Bring Me The Head of King Kenny

|

AFTER yet another weekend having found myself trawling through my social media timelines, looking for just a chink in the otherwise vitriolic criticism aimed at clubs, supporters and certain football managers, an all too familiar tune was being played in the background; Sky Sports News “Andre Villas-Boas Sacked by Chelsea” Sky having unwittingly become the orchestra to the Sack Bands leading conductor Roman Abramovich.

Like a record gone wrong, with the gramophone needle stuck, jumping and repeating, giving every grime house rapper the opportunity to very soon use such a magnificent sound in a re-mix, which no doubt will top the Hit-Parade.

We have Arsenal supporters asking for the football manager Grim Reaper to visit The Emirates on such an irregularity that poor Mister Reaper does not know whether he is coming or going. One week sharpening his scythe, only for the Hit to be withdrawn moments later, when a masked Wenger strides in to Merseyside with his band of highwaymen led by the masked Robin Van Turpin demanding three points or your life!! Liverpool holding their hands above their shaking heads as their pockets are picked and relieved of any points they may have momentarily held. If only they had stoked up Black Bess whilst riding on a similar heist in Milan.

Which leads us nicely on to the faithless, fickle, frivolous fans from Liverpool, with memories shorter than a walk up Wembley Way. Oh what a difference a week clearly makes, when you throw into the mix two goalposts, a Gordon Banks-like display, finishing that even Ronny Rosenthal would have shaken his head at, and limit defensive concentration levels to 85 minutes rather than the required 98, and of course spot kicks from the Roberto Baggio school of penalty taking [Editor: The great Roberto was injured!!].

With shouts of The King is dead, Champions League qualification buried alongside King Kenny and his fallen crown which had fitted so well only 7 days earlier as The King paraded his ill-gotten gains around his palace and his adoring subjects, uninterested in The Kings very own version of “Gentlemen of The Road” tactics toward a beleaguered band of Welsh warriors in Cardiff City.
[ad_pod id=”unruly-video” align=”center”]
Packs of Wolves howling day and night, with no let up as they aim to remove the weakest from the fold, hunting him high and low, growling from the stands, howling from boardroom, somehow even managing to come in from the wilderness and occupy the changing facilities, until its sworn enemy the domestic dog Mick McCarthy is driven out to the hills, to be replaced by stronger, faster and more experienced pedigree!!

Elsewhere Rover is beginning to settle in with his new owner, his bark for the moment not quite as fierce as its bite, if only Steve Kean had known that a few long walks around The Ewood Park were all that were required to repel the jaw snapping, tail wagging beast, and of course consistency of, a victory, a defeat, and a draw giving a dying dog another opportunity to have its day.

Football supporters pay their money and so believe they in some way have a say in who is in charge, and are more adequately positioned, even if their own C.V. lacks experience than said manager when deciding that five strikers are far superior to three defensive midfielders, fantasy football managers all. This is not World Football Challenge on Sega Mega-drive or whatever the modern-day version is called? (Other games are available!!)

Where defeat is like the harmonies from an Ice Cream Van, pied piping the fickle souls from their homes, 99’s and Screwballs, replaced with unhappy fans and errrm……Screwballs. The modern fan has become too accustomed to seeing heroes move on at the waving of currency, just above their badge kissing lips and under their noses, quite happy to lord it over managerless rivals, whilst momentarily taking a well-earned break from a verse of “You don’t know what you are doing” toward their very own once worshipped leader.

Unfortunately there is a new sort of fan in town standing on the winning line, all set to judge the next competitor prepared to participate in the sack race. Lacking the patience but more virile than his previous incumbent, so much more intelligent, thought-provoking if callous in its approach, a questionable ideology toward loyalty and its knowledge stretching as far back as its previous viewing of Match Of The Day, this new breed – the super-fan.

If only life itself were so simple. A poor days work, an underperforming morning at the office after the previous evenings antic at the local strip club, unable to get the stapler to staple, meeting every phone call with a poorly timed “Hello”, every click of the mouse resulting in a wayward cursor, howls of derision and boos from those colleagues that once were so-called friends, who once told you how great you were, your phenomenal work rate making you the first name on the list for all projects, all the former support now replaced with: “Sack in the morning, you’ll get the sack in the morning, sack in the mornnnnning”.

I am a writer and sports jornalist with many passions of which Liverpool Football Club heads the list, having been a supporter since the 1974 F.A.Cup Final, I am lucky enough to have enjoyed much success through the subsequent years.
Currently I live in Nottingham & have a little soft spot for the worlds oldest club Nott's County who incidently I had trials with when I was 13, but then we have all had trials have we not!!
I am at my happiest when writing about Liverpool and football in general, I have an opinion which I want people to hear. I will always debate and converse, so dont be shy always get in touch. dont just spectate, participate.
I support both the Justice for the 96 campaign and also Dont buy the Sun, having written articles on both subjects.
Quote from my old school report " Christopher is an eye server " so i suggest you keep looking.

As a Liverpool fan a had a joy watching them play and i also suffered a lot. When I was Young i saw our team lifting European cups, winning championships regularly. Than I moved to England and lived there for 19yrs and was able to follow my club from closer distance to what I did b4. I watched Liverpool of Roy Evans, G Houllier, R Benitez ( the best mngr lfc had for years IMO) R Hodgson( British press favorite) and now Liverpool of KK. We all wanted Hodgson out. But I ask the question why when we criticize KK we have to b so carefull at what we say. KK is a LEGEND and will always b. but just cos hes a legend it doesnt mean that he can carry on being our mngr finishing 7th or 8th or maybe lower than that. Now you’ll say that we won the CC. Big deal. That cup means very very little. In fact it means nothing at all.It only matters in England and nothing outside of England. It is the KING who bought Caroll, Adam, Henderson, Downing for all that money. For some reason he’s gone for British players and for the life of me I can’t understand why when everybody knew that what we were buying they r average at best. Than there is J Spearing to add to that list. He ain’t good enough. KK let J Cole, Aquilani and Meireles go. Surely you as well know that all three of them r better Adam, Spearing and Henderson. We all have different opinions but we all want our club to win trophys a specially the premier league but one thing I would like to know from u is when and just when you’ll give up on KK. Is it going to b next seaso if it goes like this one or you’ll stand by him no matter what. I love KK just as much as u do mate and I don’t want him sacked but I would love to c him move upstairs and make way for the best mngr LFC had for years Señor RAFAEL BENITEZ (IMO). YNWA.

  • DON says:

The worst manager i have ever seen, 7 premier league games. 5 point, he dont deserve to be our manager, i dont care about any body, all i care is for our great Club. I dont know why some of our fans is suporting this man, is he bigger than our great Club? After all the money he spent, if he deserve more chance, then why not us give our formal manager chance because he did not send up to 15 million , after Raf was sacked. I think that he is better that this useless manager called king kenny. A manager that does not know how to change game, bad tactic, bad selection. He does not know when to make changes, am not sure if he know when a player is playing badly, can any one tell me any of our players that is beter than bellamy and why is he banching for his big money boys?

  • Paul says:

Everyone is moaning about the players kenny has brought in and say rafa was our greatest manager but I’m sorry we’re still paying for some of the awfull signings his made to. But have kennys signings been down to damion camolli?? He done the same thing at spurs brought in players they never needed. Apart from Sunderland we have played well just no one that can score. 2 3 players we would be fighting up there again.

    • Matt Castellian says:

Which awful Rafa signings? Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Maxi, Kuyt, Shelvey? If Camolli was responsible for the currentsignings (Henderson,Carroll,Downing, Adam) and Kenny had no say in the matter then Kenny should grow a pair!!!

      • Paul says:

Really you can’t remember 1 bad signing of rafa you must be blind to what he won then

Nunez. Zenden. El zhar. Voronion. Degan.

        Kill robbie keanes conferdence

So don’t say he never has made a bad signing

    • Bekim says:

All well and good mate but Rafa wanted to buy D Alves, D Silva M Ozil but wasn’t given the money. Yes he bought some bad players but he’s won us EUROPEAN CUP something I can’t c us wining again if KK goes for British players cos if they were so good England would have won something mate. Remember EL NIÑO, ALONSO, GARCIA,MASCHERANO ,REINA,AGGER,ARBELOA,KUYT,LUCAS,JOHNSON,SKERTELetc and when his players sold he recouped money he spend(read PaulTomkins books to find out more) YNWA

      • Paul says:

You sound like you support Chelsea give the manager a season don’t do enought your out, rafa forced out alonso cause he wanted Barry. Look at fergie he almost got sack gave him time now look.

        • Bekim says:

Me supporting Chavs u having a laugh mate. If I did I wouldn’t b on Liverpool web. S Gerrard wanted Barry too. He spoke about him when with England. YNWA

        • Paul says:

But he never tryed selling alonso tho like rafa.
I always thought we got behind the manager and not slagged of the manager. We all know this was a working progress team and like u said before we have domenated games all season just no one can put it in the net. We’re be back up there under kenny. People slating downing his been man of match for last 2 out of 3 games And not played a whole game in one of them. Got no assists I understand but when as a winger you have know one to aim for it don’t help.

        • Bekim says:

I never mentioned Downing cos I Personally rate him and I think he’ll b good next season. As for the King i never said I want him sacked. But its not working for him. We’re stacked on 39 points from nearly 30 games mate. We scored 30 goals only so is everything well and good. I don’t think it is. Still I would rather watch Liverpool play in European cup finals(Istanbul, Athens) than playing at Wembley against Cardiff in CC.

        • Bekim says:

Pardon me. I did mention DownIng but on the equation that we bought 4 British players for all that money and none of them has been good so far. I think Downing will b good next season. The best British player we bought Bellamy and he cost nothing.

        • Paul says:

Totally agree with Bellamy shame his injurys stop him from playing full games. Thing is with Adam is he played well last year and for 7 mill not many people thought that was bad at all but he ain’t been great. Not even gonna start with Carroll no control not a creative bone in his body waste of 35 mill lucky to see 10 of that. Think it was a massive mastake not buying anyone in January. But still fill lets get behind what we got rather than slag them of at any chance

        • Bekim says:

I swear on my life mate that I get behind our team each and every game but it’s so frustrating. When we loose the game it ruins my day completely. I’m miserable and I don’t wanna talk to anyone and that’s not healthy. Hahaha

  • ali says:

    My god bekim.
You said everything i keep saying to my friends.

Rafa bought the best players , and guess what those players who left us are Barce and Madrid players.
KK bought very bad plays for around 80m.
i think kk should leave very soon ,what a waste of money ,big waste..

we need rafa back or frank regard the bulder of current barce team….
i prefer rafa 5 years contract

  • MrClean says:

Scouse Liverpool will be supporting KD till they die!

    • Bekim says:

I love KK as much as u do. 4me he will always b a LEGEND he is but if it gets worse for the club I love even thou I’m not scouse than I will never support him till I die. When EL NIÑO went to the CHAVS I think KK said that no player or person is bigger than this CLUB. That should apply to him 2.

      • MrClean says:

It does apply to KD too but while he’s the manager of the mighty Reds he gets my support until the directors make a decision. At the end of a storm is a golden sky!

        • Bekim says:

At the end of the storm there will always b a golden sky but I’m worried mate that were not going anywhere anytime soon. I would not like to c the directors make a decision cos I would want to c him still at the club. I would love to c him move upstairs and still b involved at the club at some capacity. I’m not for him to get the sack now I just think(IMO) is not working and it won’t work. I would love to b proved wrong and if he wins the Premiership next season I will b the happiest person in the world. YNWA

    • Matt Castellian says:

Scouse Liverpool!!! You’ll be telling us next you had to have been born within the limits of Anfield. Which I was by the way – despite my name. I’m a scouser through and through. Xenophobic or what!

  • David Tyrer says:

Totally agree with Bekim and Matt, why must we walk on eggshells if we even want to level the smallest criticism at Kenny? If we’re not even able to make the slightest comment then the vitriol from at least 50% of the fans will become more and more hateful the longer this goes on.

It’s not a nice situation to be in and I think that making a management change now would be silly but should things not improve by the summer then we should begin a search elsewhere. I also agree with Bekim in the fact that we’d be daft to not take a look at Benitez and with regards to his ‘rubbish signings’, I can only shake my head at that comment because the best performances we’ve seen from players since he left (Reina, Skrtel, Lucas, Maxi, Johnson) were all his signings. How ironic.

    • Bekim says:

The week we thrashed R Madrid4:0, the SCUM4:1at the Theatre of ILLUSIONS will always live with me. I hope those times will come again. I’m living in HOPE.

      • Shibashis says:

It seems so far away those glorious nights at Anfield, and defeating Madrid in Madrid, seems such a distant past now. But in all honestly just 3 years back we missed the title by a hair’s breath, it is just sad the whole situation.

        • Bekim says:

Agree. My point that the author of this article doesn’t like is that if KENNY keeps buying average British players we will never c those glorious nights at Anfield again. But is ok for this Chris guy cos we won a Mickey Mouse cup and even if we finish 10th this will b a good season. We only scored 30goals in the premier league for Gods sake. YNWA.

  • Akash says:

SACK kenny dalglish and appoint FRANK RIJKAARD…. if not means just closed the club, don’t spoil the club’s name by loosing to underdog teams like sunderland. And dalglish always give excuse if lose any match…
    .
I THINK DALGLISH ALREADY BRAINWASH OUR OWNER, THAT WHY HE STILL IN THE JOB.

    • MrClean says:

Frank R. Didn’t he get sacked from his last job?

      • Matt Castellian says:

Yep sacked for not winning anything for two years. Spent 5 yrs at Barca and won 2 La Ligas, the Champions League, the Supercopa de Espana and this is just at Barca. What a failure!!! Reply to some of the comments made to you above why don’t ya.

  • DON says:

My dear, beloved fans mate, do u people know that i would have die with heart attack on saturday, each time i remembered that this man called kenny still our manager, tears will be coming out of my eyes, since many of kenny suporters, i will use that word because i dont think that they are Lfc fans they feel that kenny is bigger than our great club, all of them have been talking rubish agains Benitez, but let me tell them that since 1980 till now, Benitez was the best manager i have ever seen. Just go and watch all our game doring his time, when Benitez was our manager, our club has a fighting sprit, it’s very hard for any club that first scored us to win the match, this man called kenny or what u people call him want to kill our great club but it will never happen, instead of him to kill our great club, our great club will kill him, i dont blamed him, he’s there making his money even if we lose or drow, he will be paid, it’s we fans that’s feeling the pains, this man has send our great club to a grave and is now planning to berry our great club by sending us to relegation zoon, but it will not happen, many of my friend is now laughing at me, as am typing all this world now my eyes is full of tears, God dont let me die with heart attack, please

  • Chris Tobin says:

HaHa nobody actually commenting on an article which about all of your comments, interesting!!!!

So you want Liverpool to become Chelsea sacking Managers at will, questioning his judgement, opinion is one thing, support another.
The screwballs all come out when the Ice Cream Van sounds……

Bekim…..which by the way sounds way too much like Beckham for my liking, but whats in a name, you dont like Silver or trophies, were you complaining we had not won anything for six years, then we do, and still you complain, this sort of rubbish disgusts me, asking to sack our Manager, you disgust me, I write ABOUT fools like you, not for fools like you.

    • Bekim says:

Silverware. Grow up mate. Its Carling Cup. I couldn’t care less if we never win it. Even the FA Cup has lost the prestige that once had. I’d rather finish 4th and watch Champions league football and actually go to the finals and win it(2005 Istanbul ) than win that Mickey Mouse cup and say that we won a trophy. I never said that I want KK to get the sack. Read my comment mate. As for u not liking my name I don’t really give toss. Just cos we don’t agree with the stuff u write u don’t have to feel disgusted with different opinions. I only came to yr web via LFC NEWS NOW.

    • Paul says:

      Well said that man

Support what we have. I’d hate to be be swapping managers every 9 months.

    • Bekim says:

So I see that u deleted my reply to u. Just cos we don’t agree with u mate u don’t have to b sarcastic. There was no comment from me about yr name. There r people who don’t like yr name but sach is life. As for silverware I couldn’t care less if we never win CC again. Silverware for me=CHAMPIONS LEAGUE OR PREMIERSHIP. THAT’S IT. As for me being fool mate if u read all the comments you’ll find that more people agree with me than with u mate.

    • Jay says:

totally agree Chris, we don’t need to sack managers every week like chelski…although it was important to get rid of Roy…however, kenny needs to get on with the job, and we need to support to him.
      we’re getting to fickle.
let’s not forget, we dumped both manc’s out of the cup competitions.
we(the players) played Arsenal of the park, we taught them how to play football, we were playing like a mini Barceleno team…yes, did you guys watch the game?
the only problem, it was Liverpool v Van Persie, he showed us what we are missing..a ruthless striker….so it means blame the players, like that muppet suarez, can’t score a goal to save his life!….and yet no one is blaming for NOT scoring!!
it’s the players on the field who have to deliver, plain simple and clear….
fickle muppets who keep talking about Kenny and bringing rafa back are just a bunch of green muppets and need a dose of reality.
yes kenny makes mistakes, but i think he deserves his time….did fergie win anything in his first full season…NO….how long did it take fergie to start winning trophies..? a long time, a very long time….so the keyword is Patience.
Kenny’s got the team in place, its a new team, new players, give it time you bunch of half twits.

  • DJB says:

Reina Is a great Keeper but I doubt he will want to stay – There’s a few British lads around who look very good so If Reina wants to go id sell him for 20 million and buy a local for 5 mil, then use the left over to get a striker. Same with Suarez – If a ridiculous offer came in – sell him and buy another striker + creative midfielder (we are missing an Alonso so much). Spearing is good as a Bench player so id keep him there (for now). As for Kenny he must be given at least 2 more seasons… We don’t have the cash just go out and buy a team capable of winning a title…

  • It’s time Kenny, It’s time.

  • New manager’ Bring back the wise head of R Benitez aka El sid.

  • Saleem Haq says:

I think there is no question the owners were faced with a massive decision when you look back at sacking Woy Hodsgon & getting KK on board. No question about it at that time no one can say he was not the perfect choice ?

However moving on having steadied the ship I do agree some of the play this season and signings have both been a shambles !! Yes we have won the CC but CL is what we need as a minimum and having spent £100m ok not all net surely it could have been spent better on players like Huntelaar, Hazard, Llorente, Cavani to name a few ?

KK is a legend and will always be but having been out of the game for such a length surely it will take time and at LFC another season without CL ? Yes the players do need to step up but ultimately the finger of blame lies with the manager. If no CL next season then surely KK & the owners need to decide replacement !!

Everyone knows Rafa would jump at the chance to have another go at managing LFC and most LFC fans would love to see him back. After all some of the best signings in recent years was by him and we were the closest ever to winning the PL.

  • Jimmy Areabi says:

This thread certainly is an indication that our support is split down the middle at the moment. It’s worth bearing in mind that even when things are going well, not everybody agrees with everybody else. Perspective is needed all around. Yes be passionate, yes voice your opinion, yes disagree with something you don’t agree with and open up a whole debate – this is part of what being a fan is all about, and what these fabulous opinion pieces bring to light by our excellent staff writers – but don’t belittle each other. We are Liverpool FC, renowned for apparently being some of the most knowledgeable fans in the world. We have never acted like certain other showers of ‘fans’ so why start now? Cast your minds back to little over 18 months ago…where we not in an infinitely worse position all round as a club, with the possible consequences so much greater?
It is fine to have a difference of opinion – some believe Kenny should be given more time, others think we should move on. Whatever you believe, sharing your thoughts is great; especially if you can back up your opinion with reasons why. I’ll even allow in some swearing from time to time if they amuse me enough 😉
Seriously though, we all love our club at the end of the day and want what’s best. Just enjoy the banter and don’t get personal (or take anything too personal). Come kick-off time, we all stand as one fighting for the Red cause. YNWA – Site Editor.

    • Bekim says:

I agree with everything u say mate. Come kick off we all stand by each other and more importantly our team. I always have done. I always do. We all want what’s best for our club. That’s 100% sure but just cos KK Is a legend and will ALWAYS b (4 me) we should b aloud to criticize just like we should b aloud to praise. The writer of this article doesn’t like different opinions. And not just that he likes to b sarcastic as well. YNWA.

    • Shibashis says:

Agree with you Jimmy, but then tell me is it right for the author of the article to call another fan ‘Fool’ because of his opinions? Especially when he did not belittle or insult anyone, all he did was to express his opinions in a quite sincere way I think.
And then when I commented criticizing the author calling someone ‘fool’, my comment was deleted. That is not constructive, not in any way.

  • Chris Tobin says:

Shib I stand by the “Fool” quote, anyone who who pute YNWA at the end of a comment that clearly does not support that specific tag is a fool, or foolish, I accept any comments or criticism of me or an article I may have written, for the record I don not delete or alter any replies, that if it has happened is Jimmy’s decision but of course I would support his right to maintain an orderly response from all, please read exactly what Mr Beckham had to say, if you comment on KK after less than a season, suggesting he be sacked then this makes my point.
Beckham only wants to play in Europe, he needs to transfer to a side that can deliver that!!!!
Opinion is obviously divided, you say blue I say red, the name comment was written in the type of humour the article is…..dont get to upset please

    • Chris Tobin says:

Or even PUT rather than pute whatever that means!!!

    • Shibashis says:

I certainly do not wish KD to get the sack now, I have said on other posts here, I will reiterate that I firmly believe next season under Kenny will be our season, but as you can imagine it pains to see the failure of our club like this.
Well glad we got this straightened out, we are all fans who love our club.
And well lets enjoy the derby victory for now and forget the rest! 😉
      Cheers !
