Venue: Anfield

Date: 22/04/12

Kick-Off: 4:00pm

Liverpool take on West Bromich Albion today and will hope to build on the momentum that the last minute winner’s have brought in their previous two fixtures versus Blackburn Rovers and Everton.

The Reds bad run of league form in 2012 has been tempered by last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Merseyside rivals Everton, and they will look to continue that form into the league, where the last appearance brought a stuttering, but exciting 3-2 victory.

Versus both Everton and Blackburn, two last minute headers from under fire striker Andy Carroll were just enough to bring victory and the £35 million man will hope to continue his newly-found scoring touch against a club who he’s already scored past in the Reds 2-0 win at the Hawthornes back in October. This season the goal-shy forward has had 60 shots on goal this season with exactly half on target, converting just four goals, a rate of just 7% of shots to goals.

Welcomed back into the fold recently has been Argentine midfielder Maxi Rodriguez who was on the score-sheet twice in Liverpool’s league win at Ewood Park. They were Maxi’s 3rd and 4th goals of the season, from just 14 efforts at goal, giving him the best minutes per goal rate of any midfielder in the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index (one goal every 124 minutes).

Being ‘welcomed back’ is not something West Brom manager Roy Hodgson can be sure of as he returns to Anfield for only the second time since his disastrous spell in charge of the club, which even saw the Reds sat in the relegation zone for a period of time.

Roy’s reign at Anfield was never right for both manager and club, but most will agree that the former Fulham boss seems to have rediscovered his level at West Brom who passed the vital 40 point mark in their last league game with a 1-0 win over QPR.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...
