My Five Fixes Would Improve LFC

The recent state of deterioration in our beloved and illustrious football club, is something that is very disheartening and extremely embarrassing, considering the immense volume of achievements that, this football club, has in her profile. You would be amazed that this same highly respected club, and greatly feared by top continental clubs alongside domestic rivals, has now become a laughing stock or better still, let me call it ‘an eye sore.’

The situation has now become so critical that mid-table teams consider us as cheap bonus for gaining three points and if drastic measures are not taken, Liverpool FC will be fighting the battle of escaping the eagerly awaiting jaws of relegation, as a result of serial displays of less than impressive performances, thereby contributing to her present state of decline. The following are the changes I think LFC should make to improve the current state of affairs:

Firstly, I want our beloved coach, ‘King Kenny’ to just swallow his pride and accept that he has really gotten it wrong in the transfer market and also take the blame for the dismal string of performances arising from the purchase of extremely overrated and expensive British flops; Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson. Particularly on the issue of Andy Carroll, watching him play makes me wonder if he is a football player or a basketball player. His height and left-foot shot power are the only attributes he possesses. He is so sluggish, terribly lazy and has no stamina whatsoever to justify his big size. He can rarely pass the ball accurately to his teammate, not to talk of shooting it into the net.

The solution I will like to proffer to this is that Kenny should stop starting Carroll as our no. 9, i.e. our top striker, as he does not contribute significantly into the game to justify his price tag. He also loses possession too easily, exposing our defense, thereby confirming the adage that says ‘what cannot add to you will definitely subtract from you.’ About the issue of Henderson, I think he has just been rushed in too early in his career to fill the boots that are way too big for him. I mean an upcoming talent like him still needs at least two more years to fully make the needed impact, thereby making me to wonder why King Kenny spilled out so much to get him rather than improving the wages of Meireles. Downing, I think has got some good attributes in him as a player (look at his goal scored against Stoke in the FA Cup) but has the wrong technique. I think he should be trained to cross the ball exactly onto the head of a player in the box rather aimlessly floating the ball with nobody to utilize it at the receiving end. I want Dalglish, to stop starting his overrated British flops at the expense of the fans and the club so as to save LFC from further disgrace.
[ad_pod id=”unruly-video” align=”center”]
Secondly, I want the owners of LFC to dispossess King Kenny and Damien Comolli of transfer market powers and appoint someone else to take full charge of scouting and market deals. This is necessary so as to prevent the wastage of the owner’s financial contribution in moving the club forward, due to their errors in the market that has led to the club’s present state of retrogression.

Thirdly, I want the newly appointed director of transfer to secure the services of creative players like Javier Pastore, Kesuke Honda, Jadson, strengthen the defensive midfield with players like Miguel Veloso, Angelo Palombo and also get attackers like Eden Hazard, Marko Marin or Mario Gotze. I think Carragher is definitely too old to cope with the pace and trickery of the current Premiership attackers. A replacement should be made as soon as possible and Coates should intensify training to fit into the defensive mould.

Furthermore, I still think that Dalglish should be retained because of his tactical abilities and enormous experiences in the Premiership. I mean, if he should be sacked because of the damage caused by his British flops alone, how about the signing of Enrique and Suarez which has been impressive.

Finally, I want Dalglish to stop the stubborn attitude of defending them, when they wrong. As in the case of Carroll’s reaction when he was brought off and Reina’s disgraceful display that got him sent off. He should instill discipline into the players and particularly warn the underperforming ones to step up or get bundled out in the summer. He should also listen to the fans because we cannot be wasting our hard earned income to watch them play nonsense and also mess up publicly. Failure to comply with this and I think he will have overstayed his welcome and should be shown the exit door. Remember that without the fans, there will be nothing!

Why do you and others keep talking about what should and should not be done. If Caroll doesnt deliver its the manager’s job to know that but so far KD has failed us. Our loyalty is and must always be to the club, LFC, not an individual we cant love this guy blindly to the detriment of LFC. Its in the interest of the club that he urgently step aside, we need better hands for the job. Raffa! Come back please. ynwa!

“I still think that Dalglish should be retained because of his tactical abilities and enormous experiences in the Premiership”

Seriously?? You’re joking right? Kenny admits his abilities are in motivating, he has never been the best tactician, which is why we have Clark next to him. And enormous experience in the premiership?!!? he was fired from Newcastle in 1998— that was his last management job in the PL. I love Kenny as much as the next fan but he just doesn’t have it to make us great again. Man U fans love Booby Charlton but they wouldn’t want him running the team. Kenny should take up an Ambassadorial role at the club but he definitely should not be taking us into next season. And Suarez was not his find, the ball was already rolling on that transfer before Kenny was appointed!!
Not a well researched article… but I understand your opinion, but I disagree with it

oh yeah, and I’ll take Rafa back in a heart beat…. one bad season where he was fighting with the terrible owners and some people discount him. Lets face it his 2 biggest flops were Keane – but we lost about £7m on that one and Aquilani (who may have played under Rafa) and we lost £13m on that — how much do you think we’d get for Carroll, Downing, Adam and Henderson right now?? A lot less than the £75m or so we spent on them (and that was just in one season). Everyone goes on about him losing Alonso but it was because he HAD TO SELL before he could buy… and it motivated Alonso to have his best season for us!!! Alonso, Mascherano or Henderson, Spearing or Adam — you choose!!!

  • Gazza says:

Oh this is such a bland wish-list its beyond laughable. Suggesting that a 27 year old player just be re-trained…

I love this club and all that it stands for. I am as depressed as any fan at the results, but watching these games week in week out I’m not as down-hearted as the majority of online “fans”. The results have not gone for us and its been a hard season. I accept the Carra (God bless his soul) has lost that yard of pace he never had – but with Enrique, Agger, Skirtz and Johnson at the back we looked a really solid unit. Our poor performances at the back have coincided with losing Agger, Johnson and Kelly at the back. Our midfield are dominating teams in the middle third with their ball retention and passing. We’re not getting men forward, and thats been an issue all season, but we were without Gerrard for much of the start, and lost Lucas and Adam for the end. As much as I think Shelvey and Henderson may become good players in the future…. they’re not there yet. Our midfield when all players are fit may include one of them (Shelvey, Henderson or Spearing), but a midfield which contains them is limited on experience – but on this KK has little choices due to injuries

Up front, we’ve struggled. There is no arguing against this, but 33 shots off the woodwork so far this season suggests we’re not that far off the mark. I rate Carroll as a decent player who has all the physical attributes to do well. It is unfortunate that he has been thrust into the spotlight because of the fee that he was sold for. Bottom line, the fee is now kind of irrelevant and the more people barrack him and get on his back, the worse his performances will be as his confidence drops. Support him and get behind him and he will come good. Is he as good as some other foreign players in a similar price bracket? Probably not, but our clubs owners made a strategic decision to increase the core british levels in the playing squad, and with the right support I think Carroll is probably one of the best we’ve got…

Lets just let the boys re-group, get their injured players back, and make one or two additions to the squad… and wait for next season.

Top response there mate. Much better read than the under-researched tripe that preceded it!

What a nonsence article summed up by….”I think he should be trained to cross the ball exactly onto the head of a player in the box rather aimlessly floating the ball with nobody to utilize it at the receiving end.”…I’m sure the “author” has never played fotbal befor to write b0llocks like that

  • UNWA says:

Bring back Rafa… Never play Suarez as the lone sttacker… It will never work out… Utilise his creativity by placing him behind the target man or out on the wings… Most importantly, get wingers and fullbacks that knows all about crossing the ball…

Just look at Stevie’s crosses when he is pushed out right… His fast dipping crosses are exactly the type that Carroll strives on and not those floating crosses… Let’s face it… We have not brought in the right players for wing play when we are trying to go down that route…

I still believe that we are a good team and can only hope that the boys can see their own inadequacies and improve their game for the coming season…

    • Shaun says:

Agreed mate! Kenny out and Rafa back in (was gutted when he left just when we had new owners) Torres would be in form and we’d have Mata by now!
Out: Kuyt (Aging and no longer effective)
Downing (Should have not been bought to begin with)
Carra (Only as a player coach)
Henderson (he’s not worth the money we paid so loan him out next season to Sunderland)
Adam (Don’t need him with Lucas coming back and I’d rather use Jonjo who’s looking better and better!)
Doni (expressed his dislike for Liverpool area and can use Brad or bring back Gulaci)
Glen Johnson (would get a good fee and Kelly could figure in!)

In: Adam Johnson (10 games started and is a force to be reckon with)
      Sigurdsson (has guile and smarts)
Sterling (Promote to first team, give him the #10 and let him learn as a regular part-timer as Arsene does ALL THE TIME!)
Hoilett (Great player to have on the team, skill level is 5 times that of Downing)
Lucas Biglia (Very good technically and is a beast!)

Where did the Pass and Move strategy go??? Actually, when you have Henderson instead of Maxi and Adam instead of Lucas, and just poor execution, well…enough said!!!

Also, they need players like Johnson, Hoilett, Sterling to get balls in the box! Carroll has to come good and if the fortunes are correct, he’ll start off slow and become a force to reckon with! Actually, these players don’t actually respect the badge or else they would be beasts of players! Thats what I love about Mascherano, he did that!

I was suprised with Daglish/Commoli not getting Papis Cisse as I truly thought he’d be brought in January! However, I wonder about racism at LFC! You need to mix the players! Simple as that! You can say what you want about Kenny being the greatest LFC player, but what John Barnes endured and how he performed, he showed how great he is,…Just ask the second greatest or may be even the first…STEVEN GERRARD!(copied his game of Barnes who he admired!)

  • ZZ says:

Gazza you say you rate Carroll as a decent player who has all the physical attributes to do well but no other top teams play with such a striker who has no pace, technical ability or such atrocious passing. Took at other similar strikers to him such as ibra, lorente, dzeko, gomez, kroos, even adebayor they are all big but posses the attribues that i’ve said carroll lacks. He is lazy and slows down the way we play, most often we resort to hoof ball. He drops deep but hasn’t the pace or vision to get back.

Then you ask if carroll is as good as good as other foreign players in the same bracket. Your next comment is absured, “probably not” like there is any doubt in it…get you rose tinted glasses off mate and accept he’ll be the biggest flop in british transfer history (don’t say torres as he was already one of the best strikers in the world when he left us and chelsea didn’t pay for “potential”).

Carroll, Henderson, Adam wouldn’t get into ANY other top club side so why should we accept it. It seems like Liverpool fans have become accepting of faliure as long as its done by one of our own, reminds me of newcastle. What happened to first is first and second is nowhere. Some of the rubish that’s come out of KK’s mouth recently i cannot believe.

  • Chan says:

First and foremost our loyalty is with LFC not KD, DC or even JH our owner. We got rid of thed 2 cowboys because they were destroying our legacy and future. If former owners can be subjected to this because they did not discharge their responsibility fully then why the exception for a manager and ex-player?

KD was given a target at the beginning of the season, 4th and a cup would be a bonus. Not only did he fail us in the league, he actually regressed the club. I can’t recall in recent memory where not onlt mid table teams but bottom teams regard us as easy pickings. That is very shamefull indeeed.

You also said that we should retain KD for his tactical ability. Are you kidding me? How many times this season had we seen KD got it wrong at the start of games and yet did nothing until its too late? What tactical ability?

KD have no ability to judge players, use them properly or tactical know how. In short he is not the person to take us forward. In this 1.5 season we had actualy gone backward.

A few years ago, the Fulham owner actually sued his ex-manager for buying 1 overpriced and overated player. KD bought 4 in 1.5 season.

Sack him and get someone who actually know how to do the job. It can be Rafa or some visionary coach like Unai Emery but one thing is clear, we can’t retain KD even for another season if we harbour any hopes of progress, let alone winb the league.

I’m so happy we have intellectuals in d house. I think ‘zz’ should be given d job.

    • Dalgish says:

Dont worry son. If he doesnt apply, lfc should sign him as the new striker. May be he will score like messi.

  • Andy says:

Just let me be! ZZ you should apply for the job.
