How Do We Replace The Epitome Of Professionalism?

WE all hear managers and players ‘calling for consistency’ from others around them when it comes to performances from individuals and players. Last season this is something which Liverpool lacked in pretty much every area, with hit and miss displays seen throughout the season and none more so than on their home turf. The new signings, and even some from previous seasons, didn’t live up to the high expectations that we’ve grown so accustomed to from people donning the Liverpool jersey.

There is one player though, throughout all of the season, who seems to have been overlooked and that’s because he always gives the team his all and he’s rarely spoken about when things go wrong and that’s Dirk Kuyt.

Kuyt is well known and highly regarded for his ‘engine’ and that he can continually run throughout the game to make an impact and help out both defense and attack. We’ve all admired and even relied on Steven Gerrard to do this for us every game and when he fails to deliver we seem to accept it as he is a Scouser and a genuine Liverpool fan.

Kuyt however epitomises everything that we need at Liverpool; hard working, never stops going and one of his best traits is he doesn’t complain when he’s brought off or starts the game on the bench. Losing a player of Kuyt’s ability and determination is a big blow for Liverpool and replacing him should be Brendan Rodgers main priority from now, although as we’ve seen before, panic buying is not the option. Replacing someone like Kuyt requires time and money to make sure you’ve found the right player.

With Kuyt leaving it certainly does spell a new era for Liverpool FC and although we are facing exciting times, it does mean that a lot of change will inevitably come and it’s change that not all of us would agree with. Kuyt could be the first of many changes that we see over the coming months before the season starts and although some changes may be minor, such as backroom staff, I hope that all Liverpool fans will get behind the team and support the new manager with whatever he decides to enforce from now.

All that’s left to be said is good luck Kuyt you’ll be missed and you’ll still never walk alone.

To be very honest Dirk failed to make an impression in most of the games he played particularly at anfield. There cant be any doubt of his athleticism but he did look to be lacking quality and in many games he was very much a passenger (along with others)
