International Exposure Could Act As Catalyst For Next Season

WATCHING the European Championships, especially England does pop one thought in mind.

The fairly large representation of Liverpool in the national team could possibly act as a catalyst in these players’ performances for club when they return.

Having played in a major tournament – the likes of Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson would certainly draw more inspiration every time they’re on the pitch. They’re not just Liverpool players now; they’re England internationals who’ve played in a major tournament for queen and country.

Of course, youngster Martin Kelly’s in the squad as well, along with the usual suspects like Stewart Downing, Glen Johnson, as well as skipper Steven Gerrard. Gerrard by the way, has been nothing short of inspirational so far for England. The usual performances we’ve come to expect from him in a Liverpool shirt (which he hasn’t quite been producing the last couple of seasons) seems to have returned during national service.

Once he’s got the taste of it back, there’s a good chance he could carry that in to the next season under Brendan Rodgers. Of the non-English players, Craig Bellamy must be retained in a more important role by Rodgers next season. The man proved beyond a shadow of doubt he was one of the most consistent performers.

His pace and initiative could be lethal down the left or right wing – interchanging with Stewart Downing. Plus he’s done well as the lone forward with Carroll feeding him with balls he wins in the air. Carroll’s been showing the similar signs during England games, winning tough balls and diverting balls towards his team mates with deft flicks leaving defenders standing.

There were certainly a few against Sweden before his well taken headed goal, as well as against Ukraine when he came on as a substitute. Defensively, Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel have to be the first choice next season. Martin Kelly breaking through as well to provide cover and rotate with them.

With Lucas Leiva expected back from injury, the midfield should hopefully be much more secure than it was last season. The rest has got to be down to a bit of luck and better judgement.

But the international exposure for Carroll and Henderson in particular should do bags of good for Liverpool next season.

Well, you can hope anyway.

Th only thing good that will happen to Liverpool is, if the owners decide to get of thier arse and spend some money.

Its that or get left behind yet again and miss out big style on top 4.

I love my team and have watche and followed Lfc for years but its getting silly now, no players are signing, we are being linked with crap and others clubs have already started the plans going ahead.

Make no mistake the time for FSG to talk has all been done, the time for action and spending has to be carried out.

If not why should reina, suarez, agger and skrtel stay?

Miss out on yet another season of champions league after the end of next season and we are then in the same size club as your villas. fact

Invest now or we are a second rate club.

carroll and henderson do not fit into the style of play that rodgers will want us to adopt. neither imo will skrtel, enrique and spearing . there is a lot of work for rodgers to do in this pre season

Carrol & Henderson will both fit into Rodgers style of play.

The best thing that can happen to Liverpool is if BR gets rid of most of the British crap that KD brought to the club. As we’ve seen yet again 2nite England r crap. Now they have crap manager as well and there is little chance they’ll ever win anything. JH, CHA and SD have to go as there is no chance at all that u can make them any better than they r. Its not their fault they r average. That’s what they r. JS has to definitely go 2 as hes worst than average. We need more continental players who can keep possession as thats the only way to win games. BR said so much himself so the quicker he starts the better. Good luck BR.
