JESUS Joaquin Fernandez Saez De La Torre – that’s Suso to you and me – took centre-stage, starring for his country as Spain and Portugal played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in the Under-19 European Championships.

Suso’s highlights (shown below) will leave many Liverpool fans mouth’s watering, with a performance reminiscent of David Silva, floating in from wide areas and dictating play. The Reds starlet put the coup de gras on a fine display towards the end of the match with an outrageous ‘flip-flap’ on his poor Portuguese opponent.

18-year old Suso has been touted as one of the gems in the current crop of Liverpool academy graduates, along with Raheem Sterling and most fans want to see him given a first team opportunity in the near future. If he carries on with performances like this, hopefully Brendan Rodgers will oblige.

For now, the young Spaniard will be hoping to continue his exciting form and take it into the semi-finals of the European tournament where his country will meet France this Thursday. Beyond that lies a possible final encounter against England – with Academy team-mates Conor Coady and Jack Robinson.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.

The kid’s good! Mouthwatering is the word, maybe we will see him this season.

  • David C says:

He is the perfect player for Rodgers pass and move football philosophy if used enough he could be one of the young stars of the season

  • Andrew says:

I never set my stall by youtube (or any other video) in judging a player. All this video showed us was Suso has good feet and a good range of passing but would he get the time and space in the EPL? The other thing I noticed was that he looked to pass rather than shoot in most circumstances which would concern me if, as it seems, we play 4-3-3 as we’d need our wide men in the 3 to be getting at the very least 15 goals between them to be anywher near successful. Don’t get me wrong I hope he makes it big time but let’s not heap up the expectations, after all we heard great things about Le Tallec, Pacheco, Paul Anderson, Adam Hamill and afew more and not one of them have made it (I hope Pacheco proves me wrong but I can’t seeit).

    • PoolAn says:

He is looking to pass because he is playing for Spain, they rarely take shots unless its inside the box, even when in the box they will still look for a pass.

  • Wan Gerrard says:

he’s good young player..hopefully to see him this coming season

  • Bill says:

How long before we lose him to Chelsea or City?

  • King Kong says:

Why do we need to buy new players? I doubt that there are any better young kids than him.

    • shadow says:

      Don’t forget its not EPL

      • Bash Miah says:

you keep going on about EPL, and no doubt can name load of foreign players that have failed…
Flip the coin, how many English players play in Leagues across the world, how many in La Liga or Serie A? How many success story’s compared to those who came to Premiership. Didn’t people say Juninho, Zola, Kinkladze, Ronaldo, Robben, Nani, Gael Clichy, etc etc wouldn’t make it, too physical a league etc etc?
And how come the diminutive Spanish are so successful and easily kick our A@se!!! Get real, we are where we are because we don’t allow our young talent to flourish, to encourage endeavour and skill, together withe guile and determination.. Listening to press interviews of our players over the years gives the impression that they relish ball work most, but mention most of their time is spent running???
Anyone who plays the game knows that those who are naturally gifted are always better than those who have to graft for their lives, ultimately the grafter can only catch up because the naturally gifted has let things slip otherwise there is NO chance,..
Lucas Leiva wasn’t as good as Suso, was cr@p when he started, but has nurtured his game to his strengths, something BR can do with Suso.

        • Al says:

Good point – BUT Lucas Leiva was not cr@p

He was a box to box player like Gerrard for Gremio and captain of the under 19 brazil team..

He was converted to a DM by Benitez who has a habit of converting player Carra to CB, KUYT to RW, Babel to LM etc..

He couldnt flourish as we has near one of the best midfield in the world, Masch, Gerrard and Xabi..

Lucas is actually a genius who has changed his whole game to accomodate liverpool and the fans..

SORRY FOR THE RANT – YNWA

  • ebuka ifionu says:

    the guy is good

  • Darren the red says:

We have SO got to play this guy this season!!!!!

  • Jaysuso says:

The next alonso!, nurture him, look after him, let him train with the first team like sterling and Pacheco, then give him an introduction at 70 mins in prem games only when we’re winning…
We have a lot of potential in our team. Let’s not sell or loan any of the good reservists, get them involved..

Can’t wait for the season… YNWA.

  • RedRoy says:

Suso, bit lightweight but will soon come of age, clearly talented, could be rodgers’ type of player, let’s hope we still have him this time next year.

  • Stonyk says:

Ive been keeping an eye on his progress for a while and this game does highlight what an exceptional talent he will be but does anyone else get the sinking feeling of how long til he gets tapped up? My fear is Chelsea, city or spurs (once the Qatar owners buy them) 🙁

    • shadow says:

Qatar’s owners won’t buy spurs because they have a kind of gentleman agreement. Only one club by league bought by a Qatarian family.
We’ll probably lose him some day, or for money or because the age. So take the best of him and enjoy.
      Even Gerrard is not eternal.

  • The truth! says:

Anyone who judges him on these clips alone are deluding themselves. Yes, without question, he has potential, but that Portuguese defence was putrid. He wouldn’t get that time on the ball in the PL.

    • Shibashis says:

He is HIGHLY rated by all at the club, you are right he does have potential, lets give the boy some credit, he has lived up to the mark so far, and so lets not doubt that he will do so in future too.
Lets back him, and hope Rogers can mould him in the right shape for PL.

  • David Tyrer says:

Well, if he isn’t given a few more opportunities next season then there is something seriously wrong with the state of the our club. Also, he’ll probably leave. We cannot let that happen. Awesome-looking youngster.

  • Bash Miah says:

Suso will be better than most midfielders in current LFC squad, McManaman, Gerrard, Owen, Carragher were no where near that good at the same age, the only player to come through in recent times with pure ‘RAW’ ability was Robbie Fowler, …
It’s all good saying it was a putrid Portugese defense but Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Jay Spearing, and Jordan Henderson would probably have STRUGGLED, anyway if anyone has any video footage of the aforementioned 4 (any compilation from any time in their entire footballing life), matching the skill and ability Suso showed in this ‘ONE’ game, then please share…

  • hadi lfc fan says:

beter than downing we should play him in first team YNWA

  • MyReds says:

Another precious treasure left by Rafa!!!

  • xna says:

Xabi Alonso’s passing vision with the touch of David silva and a bit of dribbling of Don Andreas 😀
wow what a player we have!! will be hard to keep hold of if we cant find great players around him and success for him

  • Lfc4lifer says:

He hasn’t always been this good but he’s improving fast as the footage shows he’s rdy to up to next level, be it just being on the bench is good enough.
Only thing that worried me in the past was he strength but it’s getting there!
Thanks to Rafa we have a Gem of a player ready to unleashed lets hope it’s sooner rather than later.

  • Jack says:

If anything, this video exposes Suso’s flaws, He obviously does not know when to dribble, pass or shoot.

  • ismail says:

    suso the good man
