Agger Wants Anfield Stay

ACCORDING to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool Football Club have rejected a bid from Manchester City for central defender Daniel Agger, and manager Brendan Rodgers has once again made clear that the club are very unlikely to part company with the Dane.

Rodgers confirmed that a bid had been made by the current Premier League champions to try and secure Agger’s services but that it was well below the Anfield club’s valuation of the player, with the Northern Irishman pointing out that it would take a massive bid for them to have their heads’ turned.

Rodgers revealed that he and Agger had been in regular contact over the summer period and that the defender sees his future to be at Anfield and nowhere else. The 27 year old is included in tonight’s squad for the Europa League qualifier at Anfield alongside confirmed starter, Luis Suarez.

Suarez, who had been the subject of a bid from Serie A champions Juventus, put pen to paper on a new long-term contract extension earlier in the week and Rodgers is hoping that he will be able to persuade Agger to do the same.

“But we don’t want to sell him so unless someone comes in with a ridiculous offer, that makes you look at it and think you can benefit in one or two other areas, there is no way I want to lose one of my best players.

“At big clubs there is always rumour and speculation, particularly in this period of the season, it is just shame the window does not shut when the season starts.

“Unfortunately there will be rumblings right the way through. You can’t control that because it’s purely not in your hands.

“But for me, the most important thing is I’ve got open communication with the players. Daniel and I have had a number of conversations so he knows where I am at, he knows where the club are at and he doesn’t want to leave which is great.

“In my first conversation with Daniel at the Euros he made that quite clear. He loves the club, loves the supporters so that was music to my ears, but we’ll see.”

In response to all the speculation surrounding a possible Anfield exit, the Dane has responded by having the letters Y N W A tattooed on the fingers of his right hand.

Agger, this is great news, you are an excellent player, the club had backed you through your injuries and you had rewarded us with great performances and loyalty. You are worthy of the shirt. YNWA.

Now for you BR, stop this crap about MC can have DA for 22 mill. If a key player such as DA wants to stay, your reply should be “you can’t have him at ANY price. Prove you are worthy of this sacred position and that JH did not make a mistake by appointing you. Any thing less, You WOULD Walk Alone.Just ask KD.
