Simon Kjaer

Agger’s international team-mate and, during Euro 2012, his central defensive partner, Kjaer is a player very much in Agger’s mould. Tall, strong and fast, the classy centre-back could be a dead ringer, in terms of style, were in not for his inconsistency and reported attitude problems. At just 23, it’s a trait that could easily be worked out of him though and even our own Dane struggled with form from time-to-time over the years and has always been an outspoken figure when he is not happy with his situation.

Like Agger, Kjaer won the ‘Danish Talent of the Year’ award and is highly thought of in his homeland. Currently a Wolfsburg player, Kjaer was loaned out to Roma during the 2011-12 season but largely failed to impress in his time there. However, despite this setback, the Reds aren’t alone in showing an interest in the centre-back and it could be something as simple as finding the right club to settle at that could see the talented Danish-man find his form again.

Despite having a relatively bad season in Italy though, Kjaer went on to partner Agger for Denmark at Euro 2012, creating a very impressive defensive partnership. It is unlikely that Kjaer would cost a lot, given that he has fallen out with Vfb Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath and is unlikely to make his move to Roma permanent. He would be more likely to be a 2nd choice centre-back though, in my opinion, and isn’t ready to step into Agger’s boots.

Jimmy Areabi (Editor) - @fantasista1077: Huyton raised like Steven Gerrard, football has been my passion since the time I received a Kenny Dalglish badge as a toddler, and I've followed the Reds ever since – something that was easier during the 80s, when I worshipped John Barnes! I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.
Having played football all my life, I aim to continue longer than Stanley Matthews...
