Carroll Needs Support, Not a Price Tag!

THE ongoing reports of the possible sale of Andy Carroll, seems like they’ll be doing the rounds until either he leaves or the deadline passes and he’s still at Anfield – regardless of Rodgers’ latest comments.

You could see why Rodgers originally chose to stay coy about the big frontman, given his lack of form throughout most of last season.

However, he sparked to life towards the end and frankly, it seemed like the season ended at the wrong time for the young Geordie. He was initially low on confidence, you could clearly see from his terrible first touch and lack of sharpness.

He also wasn’t played in the right position most of the time. Towards the end of the season, he was deployed more as a second striker – winning balls and holding up the possession for the midfielders to link with. All that, while Suarez or Bellamy provide additional options upfront.

At the summer’s European Championships, Carroll did that quite well. Despite all the talk of him not fitting in to Rodgers’ style of play – the lad must’ve been gaining in confidence so making him feel unwanted at the moment, may not be the right way forward. Even with Borini’s inclusion in the team, there could be three forwards to choose from for places upfront.

A lot of people seem to be fixating on the £35 million figure Liverpool dished out for him last year, but that was done bearing the future in mind. His abilities were identified as something that could be further developed for the future. The man’s got to be given a real chance.

If you’re expected to rip the back of the net every time you take to the pitch, just because all that money was spent on you then of course that’ll only make you more nervous. The man didn’t ask for the price tag, so all the pressure that comes with it seems slightly unfair.

Ideally Rodgers could’ve backed him and given him a chance. Then again, that’s not happened possibly due to the fact he didn’t sign the player so didn’t want to show faith in someone else’s vision – especially since that vision was shown the door after a disastrous season.

And let’s get one thing straight; it was a disastrous season. If winning the Carling Cup by the skin of your teeth against a Championship side and just about managing to turn up on the day of cup matches to get to the final’s is success, then Liverpool are in bigger trouble than what seems at that moment.

18 league titles and 5 European Cups don’t quite go hand in hand with calling 8th place in the league and two cup finals. Liverpool used to be feared, by one and all.

Until that feeling is restored amongst the English and European football fraternity, nothing’s successful.

Carrol should play with authority and not fear ..he should learn from ibrahimovic ,crouch and other tall lads not jst falling down as if he is not a giant. He has that power to command but doubt is ruin him.

What’s all the fuss about Carroll? If Rodgers does’nt want him, sell him. No-ones doing to offer more than £15 mill for him because they’re not as mad as KD and Commoli. If Lfc don’t want to take such a big hit on him, play him, make him feel wanted and get the best out of him, i’m sure that if he gets a run in the team, he’ll chip in with some much needed goals.

Rodgers should stop talking about his style and just keep Carroll. He can score goals and that’s a player we need. He is capable of scoring, why do you think Newcastle want him back. Rodgers should realize that his stlye of play will not come over night and should work with what he has. Learn from jose’ Rodgers.

carroll needs a taxi to john lennon airport . carroll is a good player but a waste of money . football has changed , you will never become a great team with a big striker in modern day football . not carrolls fault but he must go .
