Who Would You Sign?

LIVERPOOL FC is still one of the most prestigious football clubs to play for, even without the offer of Champions League football. The sheer history and tradition of our club and the added bonus of competing in the Europa League means making the switch to Anfield for any player a very lucrative and appealing one.

Even before the final ball was kicked in the 2011-12 campaign, plenty of names both home and abroad have been linked with a move to the Reds. Rodgers has already secured the signatures of both Fabio Borini, Joe Allen and Oussama Assaidi, and I for one hope that the signings don’t stop there.

It has been pleasing to see us linked with quality players such as Nuri Sahin of Real Madrid and young Spanish starlet Cristian Tello of Barcelona. For me I think Tello would be a great addition to the squad. He is known for his speed and he would give us the width that we often cried out for last season. As well as bringing these attributes to the table, Tello has also demonstrated that he has an eye for goal notching seven in twenty-two appearances for Barcelona last season.

One potential worry with Tello is his lack of experience. He has only just turned 21 years of age and there is always the fear that moving abroad and being thrown in at the deep end in unusual surroundings could be too much pressure and expectation for the youngster. With this in mind, if Tello was to make the move, preferably this would be on a permanent deal rather than a loan, where he would be allowed time to adapt to the Premier League and his new surroundings.

Adam Johnson is another player that Brendan Rodgers has been heavily linked with since filling the hot-seat at Anfield. Again, Johnson would provide natural width, pace and a direct style of play.

Another wide player, in the form of Theo Walcott, has been mentioned on more than one occasion in recent months. A lifelong Red, Walcott is another player that could tick all the boxes for Brendan Rodgers. His pace, trickery and direct style of play would certainly please fans. Due to being a fan himself, his motivation, determination and willingness to give 100% every time he wore the red jersey would surely never need to be questioned. At the age of 23, Walcott still has his best years ahead of him and what’s even more amazing is that the 2012-13 campaign will be his 7th season of playing top flight football. For his age, he has a vast amount of experience at the top level and this would only benefit those playing around him.

In my opinion, a new striker should also be on Brendan’s shopping list. Clint Dempsey has been linked and during his time with Fulham he has certainly proven that he has a goal or two in him. If this transfer was to happen I think Dempsey would be a squad player and a good option to bring off the bench when we are in need of a goal. Whilst on the subject of goalscorers, Jermain Defoe is a player that I feel would guarantee you that. Should he be surplus to requirements at Spurs I think this is an option that Brendan should definitely consider.

The closing stages of the transfer window can be an exciting period during the football season and I’m sure that between now and 31st August will be no different.

With the transfer window slamming shut in just over two weeks, the big question is, who would you sign?

Honestly i’m disgusted by Rodgers, when i saw Downing STILL starting (must sell him NOW since he’s nearly 30 years old or we’ll never sell him), Kelly again as right back (he just can’tplay wide, there you need fast and agile players with decent feet, especially if you wanna play a creative football) and JOE COLE come from the bench like a player who can resolve the match, i mean, simply ridiculous and i’m starting to get tired honestly, it’s the third year that i hear “we need to wait” “we need time” “we need faith”, well, i waited enough, i have enough of managers AND MANAGMENTS not capable for this club, if Rodgers will fail, and i hope not, they (FSN) shoul bring back Benitez quite fast…

Agreed, we need new owners. Ones that believe that we can compete on all fronts, including financially. Hope a Sheik gets bored and buys into LFC for fun.

The problem is that FSN have spend 100 millions last year, that’s reality, and that’s reality if i say that KK wasted so much money like no one as ever did…i really don’t know why people doesn’t realize that we need A MANAGER WITH INTERNATIONAL FAME AND EXPERIENCE, someone who can handle the situation, it’s funny because there’s one of those (few) managers free that loves and lives in liverpool and we don’t wanna see him…it’s amazing how people keep hurt themselves when they could have success easily…
