We Need To Give Borini A Break

Another Premier League game, another Manchester team dominated and another lead squandered. It’s all beginning to sound like territory we’re treading all too often at the start of this season and optimism is starting to come in smaller doses as the weeks go on.

The season has really not begun in the manner we’d have all liked it to and we’re all no doubt looking around for reasons as to why and for people to blame. But pointing the finger at just one person can often be a bad exercise in making yourself feeling better. When times are bad however, there is usually a scapegoat and, the way things are shaping up, it appears as if Fabio Borini is on the fast-track to becoming the new scapegoat.

Just as losing isn’t solely down to the manager or the staff, not being able to score goals or win games isn’t solely the fault of one player. But when Liverpool again failed to get a result, despite dominating the play – even when down to ten men – many fingers started to point in the direction of Fabio Borini, particulary when he was taken off. Perhaps he wasn’t being blamed for the loss, as such, but frustrations are often vented at the most ineffective player – that’s just the way it goes.

I admit that I wasn’t overly keen on the idea of signing a player for so much money when his only full season was on loan at Roma last year, and he has had a slow start to his LFC career but you’ve got to give the lad time. They often say ‘there’s no smoke without fire’ and the striker has been at Chelsea, Roma, Swansea and now Liverpool, so he must have something about him, given that he’s been at some of the biggest clubs in the world already and he’s still not 22.

His goal scoring record is not great, true but then he hasn’t played many games in his career and the full season he had with Roma ended with 10 league goals, which isn’t a bad return for a youngster. He’s a willing runner and a very hard worker and with that kind of attitude it’s only a matter of time before he comes good.

And I think that the most important thing to remember, is that he’s still a kid, essentially. I mean, if some people are still adamant that Henderson (a full year older) still ‘needs time’ to fully develop into a top player, then I think the Italian player should be afforded the same time.

Like Jordan, Fabio was signed for a large fee at a young age but the fee sort of cancels out his tender years and people come to expect the world from him instantly. The fact that he’s a striker and is one of only 2 established international strikers at the club means that the pressure on him must be immense. So, as the greatest club and fans in the world, I think we need to get behind him from now on and help to ease some of that pressure by supporting him all the way. And who knows, maybe if he begins to feel like he’s being more accepted by the support, the goals might just come naturally?

Fabio will be fine – we need to cyt out the individual mistakes and rely less on Suarez – kids scored 5 on Thursday – Adorjan and Sarin are the future – all our signings are going to get better – HAVE FAITH but I dont think we will win at Norwich – the wait will go on until end of October

Rodgers is not a good manager coz he left out good strikers nd brough in borini likewise he unable to sign demsy instead of giving first priority during the market he aclaims dat he dont have money

Rodgers is a good manager. Just give him time and things will turn around, what happened in the transfer market was not his fault and I think ur being a bit harsh on him. Give him the support because that’s what he needs.

  • Sperm thrower says:

Borini needs to play as the main striker, not out wide on the left or right. Rodgers should play him up front against WBA in the Capital One Cup midweek with Pacheco and Downing out wide supporting him. If he does well then Rodgers should stick with him as the main striker at Norwich next week with Suarez and Sterling supporting him. If he does fuk all again then play Suarez, Sterling and the Assaidi guy.

Yes, the author is right, we should not blame Borini but rather the man who signed him.

The same chap who decides to shell out 10.5 mill for such an inexperienced striker and at the same time loaned out Carroll (our plan B) plus missing out on Dempsey altogether.

This is just on the strikers i have yet go into details of BR strategies, which is one dimentional at best.

This is what we get folks when FSG appoints someone based on whether they are compliant and meek or not (loan out Carroll, no Dempsey, no problem, meow) but based on ability. That is why Rafa did not even get a phone call from FSG. Rafa would never acccepts the Dempsey situation meekly precisely because it does not do LFC any good.

BR, however is another story altogether.

Ya Rodgers refused to go for an interview for the pool job. He said if he is not the number one target then he did not want the job. That shows real compliance. As for Rodgers signings he brought in 4 players Allan big success assadi and borini (you don get anything for 10 million))to soon to tell. Yesil just a kid. All the same that is 1 success out of 4 players. Rafa brought in pepe, Johnson, skirtel , agger, alonso, mascarano , Torres, Garcia. That’s 8 successful players. ( not counting Lucas cause he was bought as an attacking midfielder Liverpool got lucky that he is so driven, rafa had no way of knowing) 8 out of 76 players that were worth the money payed. That is 1 success every 9.5 players . Which tells us what. Dalglish was more successful in the transfer window. So what is it about Rodgers tactics that you find one dimensional. Also do you find barca,Spain and holland one dimensional. If we do have to resort to long balls in to the box why not play coates throuh the middle to knock the balls down. Do you really think you could out with Think rodgers tacticlly. Carroll was loaned out to up his value. What is the point in having a player worth 15/20 million on the bench when some of our first team players aren’t worth that. Would be very surprised if andy value does not rise by 5 million at least under big Sam.

The interview process? This just shows that BR is very good at manouvering FSG’s desperation and cluelessness about football. Look at the competition, Roberto Martinez is the N0. 1 challenger, serial relegation battler.

Rafa won us the CL in his first season, BR can hardly win a game, let alone a trophy.

What is so dimensional? BR knows only one tactic, to pass the ball ala Barca whether or not our players are up to it or not. When it does not work, its still the same old tactics and it cost us points. Refer to all the 5 games so far for examples, you would not be dissapointed.

Manure had shown us the perfect example in our latest match. They did not played well rather ugly infact, but they won, 3 points, period. We are in the results buisness, if you can play tiki-taka and still win like Barca fine but if not just get the win. That is the only thing that matters. You mean you prefer to play great passing game all season and get relegated just because under BR (and KD), we forgot how to win? Hope in that 180 page dossier of his, it would tells us how to actually win a game. Actually BR and FSG have something in common, good PR, Great sound bites, nothing else.

10.5 mill can’t get you much these days? Wonder how much did Bemba Ba and Papiss Cisse cost the toons? You know, the same guys who got KD and DC paid 35 mill for a certain Andy. The last time i checked, those two knows where the net is.

BR could let AC go on loan or even shell out 10.5 mill for a one season EPL Borini (Hmm something in common with BR) AFTER you get a proven goal scorer such as Dempsey. 0 goals, 10.5 mill Borini and no 23 goals, 7 mill Dempsey? Pure stupidity don’t you think?

Rafa would never allow all these to take place. Torres, Mash,Alonso, Agger, Garcia and many more success to Anfield. He bought some dudes but so does greats such as AF (Kleberson and Veron anyone) and unlike KD he did not shell out 20 mill for a 0 goal, 0 assist winger (just one example, i can give you at least 3 more which includes that 35 mill squad player that you mentioned.). Rafa bought youth (please check Sterling, Suso, Shelvey, you know the players we are raving now) too but not at the expense of experience first teamers who can help out straight away. I guess maybe, just maybe, like some of us Rafa realize that our rivals would not just hang around and wait for us to get better (i hope part of that 180 page dossier would address this as well) and that must be the reason Manure rack up those 19 titles while we are err..rebuilding. Rafa did not win us the league but at least he nearly did and every season except the last one, we were competing.

Worse start in more than a century. It says it all, doesn’t it? Guess BR is just continuing the trend of KD of setting records, albeit all the wrong ones
