LIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers described Luis Suarez as “unplayable” following the Uruguayan’s second-half performance against Newcastle at Anfield on Sunday and has vowed to bring in players in the January window in a bid to give the Reds’ striker more support.

“I thought Luis was unplayable. It was a brilliant goal. He has been fantastic,” Rodgers told espn.co.uk. “His first touch coming from that height was an incredible piece of skill.

“That is what he is, a world-class striker. Most people in football know he is a real threat for us in and around the area.

“We know he needs support going forward. If we can add the types of players we want to finish off the type of play we are producing it is going to be a really exciting team. For now we’ll just keep plugging away, keep our heads down,” Rodgers added.

“He is an absolute joy to work with. He’s aiming to get better every day he trains. And he is still a young player.

“He’s committed his best years to us here, which is brilliant. He just has a real hunger for the game. He has a hunger to score goals.”

Schalke’s Dutch international striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar has been heavily linked with a move to Merseyside in recent days, with reports in Holland suggesting that Liverpool have opened negotiations with Schalke regarding a possible move for the striker who notched almost 40 goals for the German side last season. Huntelaar will reportedly be available for a cut price €6m, as his contract is due to run out in the summer, and it’s thought that his experience and his potential to impact the Premier League immediately will sway FSG into signing a player who doesn’t fit their model.

Any successful move for Huntelaar will provide Liverpool with the added benefit of reuniting Suarez with his former strike partner from his Ajax days. This partnership was nothing if not prolific in Holland as the two racked up 68 goals in 52 games for the Amsterdam club between 2007 & 2009.

Absolute bargain. Him or llorente. Bag Walcott too. Suarez is the magician weaving and tying defenders in knots. Walcott the speed and directness. Llorente or huntelaar the finisher.

  • zahid says:

Would love him i think Llorente is going to Juventus Suarez could help lure Huntelaar but the only thing is if Schalke get to the next round of the CL then i think it may stop it from happening in January even if that means letting him go for free in the summer Schalke will make more then the £6-7 mill we may offer for him by reaching the next round so it won’t be no loss for them.

dont get your hopes up . because of our tight owners we will probably go for the 2nd rate rubbishy gary hooper . dont expect top players

    • Paddywhac says:

“2nd rate rubbishy Gary Hooper” wind your neck in mate. Hooper is a great finisher as shown in the champions league

      • bob says:

yeah right . 1 goal in group stages wow . lots of goals in a league of the same standard as the blue square .

kris boyd , scott mcdonald scored hundreds in the SPL , and how did they do in the premier league ? have they even got 10 premier league goals between them ?

    Just want a forward…..please!

  • brenwils says:

I hope this is true and we sign him in Jan and hopefully Walcott too, it would make us a serious attacking threat with plenty of pace and goal scoring ability wich we are seriously lacking at present I just hope fsg back BR with the funds YNWA .

I don’t think the LFC bosses are going to spend big so I don’t have much hope for the future

  • Elias says:

If walcott fails , we must get dries mertens. We need huntlaar and eriksen

  • megzy says:

Don’t believe walcot will come,we have other potential players that could create better impacts in our team, huntler is good, what of soldado or dem ba, mid fielders like felaini, dyer, sesseyoung, ben arfa, cabaye, let’s get two mid fielders from here then one more striker from ma options. Then ??we now talk of central defender like cocini of new castle or sharcros of stoke then we are good to go… YNWA…

I would pick Zaha over Walcott. A younger version of the same type player!

  • Huntleer would be great addition to the strike force of liverpool pairing him with suarez would mean alot

  • Ray Pugh says:

There are some very good players with contracts running out. As far as I know these players will be available on a Bosman in the summer:

Walcott, Sturridge, Llorente, Tello, Huntelaar, Holtby, Moussa Sissoko

There are others available like Ashley Cole, Hangeland but for me the above are more likely options.

Personally I’d be looking to buy Huntelaar in January and either Walcott (preference) or Sturridge.

Then possibly tie up others on a pre-contract. Tello I think will actually stay at Barca but if we could get Llorente and Moussa Sissoko to come next season, I’d be very happy

  • Johnny Luken says:

WE SHOULD BUY CAVANI, HUNTELAAR, BENT, BA, ZAHA, WALCOTT, INCE, STURRIDGE, BONY, DE JONG AND ABUMEYANG ALL AT ONCE, THEN CONSTANTLY ROTATE THEM PLAYING A DIFFERENT 3 EACH WEEK.

SELL STERLING, AGGER AND SUAREZ TO RAISE THE CASH.

MY FAVOURITE 3 WOULD BE DOWNING, BENT AND CAVANE.

    YNWA
