Valencia midfielder on Liverpool’s radar

Liverpool Sofiane Feghouli The Mirror have reported that Liverpool FC appear to be considering making a move for cash strapped Valencia’s Algerian midfielder Sofiane Feghouli.

Feghouli has started 28 games for the Spanish outfit this season and has netted 6 goals, in addition to his 5 assists.

The report states that Liverpool have sent their scouts to Valencia to watch the 23 year old and Liverpool will be hoping a £9 million offer will be a sufficient approach for a club which needs all the money it can get.

However, it is thought Valencia will consider nothing less than a £13 million offer but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is confident that he will not have to shell out this amount for the player.

Feghouli’s contract with Valencia runs until 2016 after he signed a contract extension at the end of last year and has stated his desire to continue playing in the Spanish league; but Valencia’s financial instability along with a poor league form could spell the end for Feghouli’s time at the club.

Liverpool were reportedly interested in acquiring the midfielder’s services last winter, and if they were to revive their interest in the player they will have competition from big spending Paris Saint Germain, and the French club will have no problem opening up their wallet and splashing the cash to at least stem Valencia’s financial woes and bring Feghouli to France.

However, if Rodgers were to convince Fedhouli to come to Anfield he would have a man who, despite his young age, is a promising talent and has already had sufficient experience in Europe.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Rodgers must not be allowed to spend any more money or the next manager will inherit his mess. This will set the club back even further for years to come. It’s no point dressing BR up as some sort of messiah, he is a bang average manager with moderate aims in life.

Well said . I dread to see what average players he will be bringing to us in the summer

Rodgers should not go for fegholi, he should spend an extra £3-£4M and bring ISCO from Malaga instead. But Rodgers needs to clear out some more dead wood players first then the owners need to give Rodgers £75-£80M to bring in 9 players this summer.

Rodgers just needs to clear the rest of the dead wood players still at club: Four:
    1: GK: Jones
    2: RB: Flanagan
    3: CB: Coates
    4: FD: Borini
Then the owners need to back B Rodgers heavily with £75M-£80M, which is £2M less than what they let K Dalglish spend on Adams, Carroll, Downing and Henderson. This summer to complete some major surgery to playing staff and to strengthen the squad and bring some more class and quality competition for places within squad.
So with those 4 players who need to be shown the door in the summer, Mr great Loyal servant Carragher is retiring. So that would be another 5 players would have left.
And these are the 9/Nine players needed to improve our squad dramatically:
    Five Defensive players:
1: GK: M Vorm(29) Of Swansea for £2-£4M to compete and Cover P Reina.

2: CB: A Williams(28) Of Swansea for £7-£9M to compete and Cover Agger.

3: CB: A Pearce(24) Of Reading on free transfer to compete and Cover Skrtel.

4:LB: A Cissokho(25) Of Valencia for £5-£7M to compete and Cover Enrique.

5: DM: E Capoue(24) Of Toulouse for £7-£11M to compete and Cover LUCAS.

    Four attacking players:

1: RW/RWF: J A Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia for £4-£6M to compete with Assaidi and Sterling.

    2: LW/LWF: B Arfa(25) Of Newcastle in swap deal with A Carroll and £10M

3: AM: Isco(20) Of Malaga for £12-£17M to compete and Cover Coutinho.

4: FD: C Benteke(22) Of A Villa for £16-£18M to compete with Sturridge and Suarez.

Rodgers is doing a good job with what he has had to work with, last year club spent £83M and struggled to score goals and finished 8th with 52 points ,47 Goals scored and 40 Goals against after 38 games. So a GD of just +7

We are currently 6th in league on 45 points after 29 games with 9 games still to play and we have scored 56 goals, more goals than Arsenal,Man City, Tottenham only United have scored more goals than us in League at moment(68) and we have conceded 36 goals. And have a GD of +20. Yet we still have nine games left to play. So we have improved in league this year but struggled in cups.

We have been poor in the cups this year but improved within the league, we have a very weak squad which is not capable at the moment of competing on all fronts in 4 competitions.

But if the owners back B Rodgers with £75-£80M in the summer and Rodgers ships out the 4 dead wood players and brings in the 9 players mentioned. Then next season we would have squad capable of competing strongly in all competitions.
