Liverpool Carra managerTHERE is a common consensus throughout the media today that Brendan Rodgers may approach Jamie Carragher, and ask the defender to rethink his retirement at the end of the season.

Carragher has already announced his desire to end his career at the end of the season, and there is a possible job in the media awaiting him once he hangs up his boots, but Rodgers is confident that he can play for at least one more season.

Carragher has definitely stepped up his game this season, with 33 appearances under his belt and a much improved work rate meaning that he has been a consistent first team player since the turn of the year, ousting Rodgers’ initial plan to pair up Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel.

Speaking to Goals on Sunday Rodgers said: “He’s been fantastic and I do believe he could play next season. He and I communicate a lot and he’s obviously got something in his mind. He and I will sit down between now and the end of the season anyway and we’ll see where it goes.

“If he does go, I will certainly miss him because he’s been brilliant for me in my time there, going in as a manager of a club of that size. He’s shown great respect and really helped me and the other guys.

“The thing for now is to keep performing the way he is until the end of the season and between then and now he and I will chat and we’ll take it from there.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
