Italy LFC BoriniLIVERPOOL FC striker Fabio Borini has expressed his desire to step in and fill a huge gap for the team as a result of Luis Suarez’s 10 match ban.

Borini had been sidelined with a shoulder injury for 10 weeks prior to Liverpool’s 6-0 thrashing of Newcastle, and the Italian wasted no time in marking his return to the side with a goal after coming off the bench.

This was Borini’s first Premiership goal for Liverpool, and he is now eager to grasp the opportunity with both hands following the absence of Suarez and make an impact, as well as continuing to contribute when he returns to the squad.

The Italian told Sky Sports: “It had been a long injury for me and a long wait to score in the Premier League, it’s been hard. When I hurt my shoulder they said my season could be over but I fought back as I really needed to come back earlier.

“I took the minimum possible to get back training which was eight weeks instead of 12. Some people probably didn’t think I could make it but I fought back. I can play a big part now not because Luis is suspended but because I am back fit.

“Whether Luis is available or not, we all need to focus on doing our jobs.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

I hope next season LFC will ship out thefoward players who cannot score many goal. Downing, Borini,Carroll and Henderson the highest salary but only contribute just a little achievement.Joe Allen and Jonjo Shelvey is still ok.They have good future as versatile players.

Borini is not Liverpool quality. If he wasn’t one of the managers pets he would be dumped long ago

Not good enough . A shocking waste of 11m. He has had 17 games to show us something but hasn’t shown any promise at all

Only one goal and Borini is making noise. Sergent Brenden Rodgers should ask for a refund on Borini and send the player back to Italy. I know that Rodgers is trying his best to justify why he wasted Liverpool 11m on Borini. I will advise him get the refund and go for a player that is of Liverpool quality.
