Liverpool target Aspas LIVERPOOL FC have reached an agreement with Celta Vigo to sign Spaniard Iago Aspas for a reported fee of €9m, as reported in the Liverpool Echo and Marca.

Aspas, a versatile forward is expected to undergo a medical on Merseyside when the Spanish season concludes next week to finalise the deal. The 25 year old has scored 12 goals in 36 appearances for relegation threatened Celta this season after helping the team to regain their place in Spain’s top flight with 23 league goals last term.

Brought through the youth ranks at Celta, Aspas even has a Supporter’s Club named after him – the Peña Iago Aspas – and has become a hot prospect in La Liga after demonstrating what he can do this season – his first in Spain’s top-flight – marrying frightening pace with excellent movement.

Hot on the heels of agreeing Kolo Toure’s signing, Liverpool have moved quickly for Aspas and seemingly concluded their second piece of summer business – however, the move coincides with the latest news to come out of South America regarding Luis Suarez, as the Reds number 7 gave an interview, stating it would be ‘difficult’ to turn down any approach from Real Madrid, after he and his family have become sick of the British media.

Are Liverpool preparing for the possibility of life without Suarez, in moving for Aspas?

Let suarez go and a better striker will come. Michael Owen left lpfc and we got Torres. Torres exit brought suarez. If suarez decides to leave lpfc no squirms. We will always get a better striker. Warning: Brendan Rogers should and never again buy average players. Rogers please make use of your senses and let lpfc be lpcf again. You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Suarez is among the world best but i wouldn’t blame him if he wants 2 leave but Bredan should pls and sign good players like Tello,Benteke or Rooney

Have very mixed feelings about Suarez news. The whole Evra debacle was as much LFC’s fault as it was Suarez. Suaerz should nevet have been put in the position at the tribunal that he was, but Suarez dug himself in pretty deep too. There is no doubt that the players and fans gave him suppory though.
The whole bite issue is squarely on Suarez but this time the club dealt with it properly and once again the players and fans stood behind him. I can underdtand him wanting to protect his family and wanting them to mot be persecuted in any way. Unfortunately this time he brought the problem down himself and to think the same wouldn’t happen in Spain if he has another incident might be a bit naive. I think he really needs to put in a full season, post suspension, at LFC, incident free, and then see if it’s accolades or simply more of the same b.s. from the British press.
If he really presses for a transfer then FSG have to absolutey stand up and make any suitor pay every quud of what he is worth!

I DONT THINK HE WILL LEAVE BUT IF HE DOES, HE WILL NEVER WALK ALONE. IT WOULD TEACH THE BRITISH F.A. AND PRESS HOW NOT TO TREAT THE PLAYERS WHO MAKE THE LEAGUE ATTRACTIVE AND ENTERTAINING. YNWA

No one can blame Suarez if he wants to go . He deserves to be at a club capable of winning things. This press thing is just a smokescreen . He wants to play for a better team

      Way to support LFC pal.

      • David Tobin says:

It’s the truth. Its got nothing to do with supporting or not supporting

You expect Suarez to stay for years more in a team going nowhere ?

        • Denis D says:

David, Suarez needs to look at Torres and think i could end up like him. When Torres was at our club for two years he was the worlds most feared and lethatl striker.

When Torres was at his peak at Liverpool he was the best striker in world football alongside Samuel Eto, Then he got injured lost some form and started to sulk and then left for chelsea.

Now look at him, you would never think he was the same Torres who used to put fear in every defender in world football’s eyes when he was with us, Now defenders line up hoping to play against him.

Suarez is world class and he was the third best player in world football last year, but his mad antics and stupidness at times lets him down.

If he had cut all the biting, diving, then admitting diving malarchy out of his game then there was no way in Hell G Bale would have won player of year.

As over the full course of the season Suarez was easily the best player, but due to all the other things he done over the course of season, even though G Bale is a serial diver. He received the accolade of being best player and young player of year, when Suarez was the right ful winner.

Suarez, should give the club another year or two after the club has stuck by him during all his mad antics, also Suarez needs to shut his mouth more. You are under contract, you just signed a new contract.

And no one told him to bite ivanovic, no matter how much he complains about the english media if he didn’t act a fool at times then the could not hound him or be on his case.
But because of Suarez’s Character, the English media wait for him to do something then it becomes intensified.

Suarez, needs to learn if he did not do stupid things in limelight then the English media would not have nothing to hound him or chase him down about.

I hope he stays at club David, but if not . The owners and B Rodgers need to stand tough as Real Madrid are offering £60M plus in cash for Bale and are planning to offer us players who are rubbish and £20M for the services of Suarez.

Suarez should for no less than £65M or he should be sold for no less than £45M with Higuain, Benzema Or Modric in the deal

Then with that money Our club could bring in 4 to 5 class, quality players to replace Suarez.

We replaced Torres over the years, we can and will replace Suarez if we have to over the years.

          • David Tobin says:

@Denis . Torres has won the champions league . The Europa league. The world club cup. And played champion league football every season

Do you really think he would swap all that for mid table seasons without even getting to champ league ??

We won’t be able to replace Suarez with a top class striker this time , because look at the state we are in . No top striker would want to join Liverpool right now

        • Denis D says:

David are you a comedian or something?

When Torres was at his prime at Liverpool he was best striker in world and most feared striker in world football.

Now look at him he is completely different striker, defenders would prefer to play against him than Demba Ba any day of the week.

Torres may have gone to money bags chelsea, to win trophies but as a footballer , most of them take pride in being a huge part of that process. In chelsea winning Champions league and Europa, Torres contributed very little to them winning both trophies and that is why they are so desperate to offload him now.

The reason our club is struggling to get back in top 4 is one because we have had a pathetically bad and weak squad over last five seasons with too many dead wood average players within squad, two the tight american owners do not really want to spend anything to get club back amongst the elite sides in world football again, over the last decade plus in all the managers that were at club , the managers brought more average dead wood players to club than class quality players. Four, instead of clearing the dead wood average players at club, we keep selling the class, world class players we have at club and keeping too many dead wood average players on at the club.

So until the owners seriously back Rodgers with £50-£100m to spend in Transfer Window and also whatever Rodgers can bring in on players sold to go towards strengthening and bringing in more class quality and depth.

We will be competing with Everton, Stoke and Fulham again like we have been for 5 years now for a top 6-10 position.

As Manchester United, Man City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal all have much better and stronger squads than our club and have done for last five seasons and they keep strengthening and so do we have stayed behind them in league for last five years.

And the lack in class, quality competition and depth within the squad is the main reason side has been so incomplacent for last five seasons.

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

tanks realist, i wldnt ve said it beta unless….. I add that no top class club want to buy kolo except rodges.

  • peter kelly says:

if i was luis suarez i would leave liverpool too ,everyone knows how much great a footballer he is and was prob the best in the premier league last year ,but i wont put my family through what they have been through by the media ,he has every right to want to leave ,id love to see him stay forever or even one more season .id give my life to know what happened with patrice evra and why suarez when he came up against the tribunal refuesd to tell them what he had said ….ynwa
