Luis-Alberto LiverpoolSPANISH newspaper Sport and Sky Sports La Liga correspondent Guillem Balague, have revealed that Liverpool are close to clinching a deal for Barcelona B loanee Luis Alberto.

The 20 year old Alberto primarily operates in attacking midfield, but is also known to be efficient up front, if required.

The player is currently on loan from Sevilla at Barcelona’s B side, and according to Sport:

1: Liverpool are very close to sealing the deal for the youngster.

2: Barcelona have a €4 million buy option to make the player theirs but it seems they have opted against this approach.

And finally: In 37 games Alberto has racked up 11 goals and 17 assists for the club.

When Sevilla chief Ramon Rodriguez was questioned about Alberto’s future in April, he said: “It seems unlikely that Barcelona will pay. Not only the €4 million as it is a rather high amount.

“The ball is in the court of Barcelona, but in my mind, Alberto will return and this year will serve to develop him for the first team.”

Alberto has represented the Spanish national team at Under 18, Under 19 and Under 21 levels, and he is represented by the same agency that is currently handling the transfer of another Liverpool target, Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

Wow. Another unknown. I thought this was Liverpool FC not Wigan

    • smith says:

Mark have you seen this player? He is a beast of a player he can pass, shoot everything, he was good enough for barca to have a close look.

    • j75j says:

Rodgers is more interested in what a player can do then buying a name.

    • Niki says:

Unknown for you, first look at him and then say something,in a 2 of years he’ll rock.

      • sid says:

???? How do u know you plank !

He is unknown . Could be great . Could be rubbish

  • Raul says:

Not sure if he will be an immediate impact player

  • GOdwin odey says:

He is ?????????G:D 😀 Ð,go and get him

  • Joe says:

if we get him he will be a bargain.!
he will play immediately in the first team, and replace
    Downing..
    The lads that good…
thats IF we get him though!

    • TaintlessRed says:

I doubt that. He’s 20 with no top flight experience and plats centrally not out wide. Aspas is more likely to take Downings place.

  • Barnett Davis says:

The guy looks incredible on YouTube clips but then again so did Assaidi ! Ha

  • Tyler says:

Yes . Loads of clowns were telling us last year that Assaidi was going to be a world beater

You haven’t seen him play so everyone stop with the bull sht

    • TaintlessRed says:

True, but he’s talented. Reason Barca aren’t taking option is that they have Messi, Pedro, cuenca, tello, Sanchez for front three. They’ll sell villa but now have Neymar as well.

In midfield, they play a 3 with always a holding midfielder (Busquets, song, Mascherano) leaving 2 other midfield positions. Those are taken by Xavi & Iniesta. Followed by fabregas and the excellent young alcantara. The players Barca are looking to progress from la masia are primarily defensive. They aren’t going to buy a young loan player who won’t even make their bench.

  • Dan says:

Don’t know him but to be honest, so what. If they guys has represented the Spanish team at practically all levels he can’t be that bad. Besides at that price it’s a better risk then some other players we have paid a high price for. End of the day the Scouts would have a better idea than any of us and if they feel he is good then we have to take their word for it, that’s if the rumour is true.
As for Assaidi he hasn’t really been given a run of games has he? If we sell him I doubt we lose anything anyway. End of the day he is still young and I doubt he was bought to fit in immediately anyway.
As for YouTube, even I can make myself look good on there and that’s saying something.

    • Cuauc says:

Good comment, agree with all. I hate when fans think they’re 100 times better than the professional scouts

      • Brigadier says:

LOL!! Professional scouts who signed Borini, Assaidi, Allen, they will soon be ex-professionals after they get sacked by the ruthless FSG. What about Comolli?! Was he a professional?!

  • samuel says:

is it with kids he wants to push d team towards 4th place? BR is a big mistake

  • LFC_Fan says:

These are actually very good deals. We should understand, we are in a bit tight corner for not being in CL. It’s not helping us financially & acquiring marque either. We don’t have the spoiled money like MC, Chealse, Monaco, PSG or Anzi to over pay multiple times to bring players. Instead of spending 50mn for 1 Falco, I am always ready to buy 5/6 players like Coutinho, Borini, Zouma, Digne, Tello or this boy.

Players like this guy (or Aassidi) brings enormous possibilities. If they click, they are gold, if not, still we can always recoup at least 80-90% of the investment. Just for an example, Coutinho already has doubled his value where as still we can get almost the investment money for Coates or Aassidi. What I don’t like Donkey Carroll, Henderson (ok give him benefit of doubt, after all he is home grown) or Downing like investment. Even Adam was a poor waste as he was not good enough even for bench.

However, this boy is much, much better than Assaidi, mark my words. He played for Spanish age group teams & was in contention for Barca first team. Aassidi came at 24, when technically & skill wise players don’t improve much further, but this boy is just 20, like Coutinho; could end up someone like Iniesta or Cazorla.

  • Rai Reds says:

Lets build the team around B team players – great 🙂 rather than squandering $3-$6M here there and everywhere lets go big or go home buy one or two $10-$20M proven players …

  • Fisseha Mamo says:

Idon’t like to comment on the rumoured guy(Alberto) but Iwhat to say is that is LFC allowed to play with 22 ordinary players? because Toure is already signed,Isco on the verge,Suarez and skertel going out,and Rodgers is rumoured only with kids and free agent players.what does it mean? he is prefering quantity rather than quality!it would true if he assumed him self as swansea or wigan boss but this is LFC!!!!.may be the owners(American;traders) do not allow and back him with money.Even the boss is not LFC level…..!!
Other thing Ican say as Lfc fan from ethiopia,Isay today suarez’s shirts burnt!!! that is stupidity…!!!!burning that shirt means burning the most glorious LFC brand!!!let him go and replace him with other talen or play the hopefull guys we have already in the acadamy!! YNWA!!!!!!!LFC will return to its famous Championsleague next year who ever depart or comes!

  • tantaw says:

yes he is unknown but he is great player………wat about cr7 he was unknown before signed for man u but now he is world class player…….even falcao, messi, benteke and many more…….this is football……..welcome to anfield (alberto)

    • Tan says:

Ronaldo wasn’t unknown. He was one of the hottest talents in Europe at sporting

  • Craig says:

This lad looks really good, a bit like Alonso but he can score.
I think our team will be fast and hungry next season.i cant wait for pre season

    • TaintlessRed says:

I agree that he’d be a good signing. I’m pleased. However he isn’t all that fast. He’ll run with the ball when needed but doesn’t have the pace of a cuenca or tello. His passing, creativity is his biggest suit.

  • sid says:

Lots of bellends think he is fantastic cause of 2 minutes on YouTube. You people need to wise up and stop getting carried away

  • Denis D says:

I think that B Rodgers should forget about this kid and go for more players in the Coutinho and Sturridge, players known in world football with class, quality and potential to be world class in future but with Points to prove.

Coutinho and Sturridge were both known players to the world of football, both are class and quality and both wanted to prove their worth and are now excelling at Anfield.

The owners and Rodgers need to stand firm with Suarez and only sell him for £55-£65M and then if Carroll is sold for £15M also and Downing is also shipped out for £7-£10M

Then these 6 attacking players should replace Carroll, Downing and Suarez:

1: FD: L Muriel(22) Of Udinese for £10-£12M to compete with Aspas and Sturridge

2: FD: C Benteke(21) Of A Villa for £15-£22M to compete with Aspas, Muriel and Sturridge

3: AM: I Munian(19) Of A Bilbao for £10-£14M to compete with Coutinho, Shelvey and Suso

4: CM: De Guzman(25) Of Villareal for £5-£7M to compete with Allen, Gerrard and Henderson

5: RW / RWF: C Tello(21) Of Barcelona for £8-£10M to compete with Sterling

6: LW /LWF: D Capel(25) Of Sporting Lisbon / Clube De Portugal for £4-£7M to compete with IBE

Those 6 players would cost the club between £52-£72M

And in Benteke and Muriel, you would have two ready made replacements in the Carroll and Suarez Mould who would bring 30-40 goals to the side/squad. Cost: £25-£34M

In Capel, Munian and Tello, You would have three Spanish Starlets with mobility, Pace, Speed, Class, Creativity, Quality and Goals in their locker. And they would all have something to prove and would bring 20-30 goals to side whether created or scored. Cost: £22-£31M

In De Guzman we would have a mobile, quick, box to box midfielder, Good passer of ball, good touch, Good at putting in tackles who has played tremendously well this season in Premiership and scored some good goals along the course of the season competing with Allen, Gerrard and Henderson for the CM position near. Cost: £5-£7M

Those 6 players would change the whole dimension of Squad and get the club back competing with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham for the 3rd and 4th position in the league year in and year out.

    • Johnny says:

So we wont use any centre backs then, coz Carra, Coates, Skyrtel, are on their way out.
And no competition for Enrique at left back. MMMM, seems you just wanna play forwards all over the pitch.

  • red33 says:

GUYS!!!! It doesn’t matter what you all think,we still praying for idol players that liverpool gonna get,all we can do is to hope our wish come true.

  • brendan says:

Let BRod, get what he thinks suites his plan, kolo already onboard, nice signing it is, even if elpistolero leaves, we will still be at anfield and we will continue to progress, stop drawing teams, lets relax YNWA

  • Willy d'gaffer says:

Improved scouting network I must say. Keep the searchlight’s on Brendan. Get talented young players. Don’t waste money on already made players. But I think Benteke should be an option cos he’s gat point to prove. Go Go Go LFC. Red till end not till death cos even after death I still remain a
    Red

  • Lee says:

Wow,liverpool should sign this boy.Am sure he’ll be star of the future. He knw how to hit the target and also is very much skilled.

  • Agali says:
