Another bite out of his reputation?

Suarez ChelseaIT is true. Luis Suarez has never had the best reputation for quite some time now and he certainly hasn’t helped his case as of late.

One has to wonder if his latest actions drove the stake into the heart of his PFA aspirations. It was nearly impossible to find anything about his play that could discredit him.

However, the pundits got just what they were hoping for. They got another incident in which they can drive Suarez’s name further in to the ground and this season’s love affair, Gareth Bale, took home the trophy.

Apart from immediate consequences, however, one must ponder what sorts of long-term ramifications this could have on the player, as well as on the club.

To be honest, it’s hard to see any way out of this for Suarez. He was already the brunt of the attention in the media and now he gave them something else to remember him for. The way Suarez is written about I’m not sure a lifetime of helping little old grannies cross the street could wipe his slate clean. So what is there left to do?

It’s interesting to look at the bite and try and see how it will impact the player’s future and where he calls home next season. On the one side a case could be made that his best chance at repentance is with another club. Give him a fresh start with a new club, new teammates, and a new media landscape and see how it goes.

However, given the severity of his suspension you have to wonder if any league that takes on the player wouldn’t be persuaded to allow the suspension to carry over.

If the suspension dissuades clubs from purchasing the player then he is stuck trying to make amends at Liverpool. This is where the club will face its share of the burden.

As Liverpool try and painstakingly rebuild the club to its glory they certainly do not need any distractions. And that is what Suarez risks of becoming. His sporting genius aside, Liverpool are a club with a long, illustrious history that may not find it beneficial to field a player bringing in negative attention.

In the management’s quest to rebuild the club I doubt they’re intending on rebuilding it into a bully pulpit.

This situation is delicate and it will have to be micromanaged, not from the media, but from the club and the player himself. A collective approach will need to be hashed out and all sides must be on board.

Maybe then, just maybe, Liverpool and Luis Suarez can shake off any tarnish they’ve acquired and rise from the ashes.

YNWA means we stick to our own whether its good or bad. Suarez has his weaknesses
but his commitment to the clubs success is unrivaled and at a time like this we are
To show him love and understanding.

You can say whatever you like about Suarez but if he was a Man Utd player he would be portrayed as a victim in the press. There have been some horrendous tackles and outrageous incidents comparatively dealt with lightly by the FA. I think we should start a petition to have the FA investigated and have them show complete transparency in their dealing with disciplinary issues.

Oh come on . Quit with the conspiracy theories . It is embarrassing

Us Liverpool fans are fast growing a reputation for making excuses and crying conspiracy.

      It’s got to stop .

What like the government papers that were released in 2012 where it stated Thatcher wanted to starve the city ?..and we knew this but were called moaners and conspiracy theorists..Geoff be careful not to have that peasant mentality and accept all that media give you.

  • Kellyman says:

Geoff you have to admit that there is favouritism. Look at the John terry incident, he only got banned for 3 weeks for racial abusetwards another player, but yet Suarez got 8. I don’t think it’s a club bias but a nationality bias. If it were Gareth Bale biting someone do you think he would have got 10 weeks.

    • David Tobin says:

It’s not a nationality bias or a club bias

It’s a personal bias against Suarez. Unfortunately he has made himself unpopular .

But I agree with Geoff. We have to stop moaning. It makes us look bad and is of no benefit to us
