BARCELONA are interested in signing defender Daniel Agger, according to the Daily Star.
The Danish centre-back is being lined up for a £12.7million bid from the Catalan club. Despite spending £50million on Brazilian sensation Neymar, Barcelona have insisted they can afford Agger too.
Liverpool will be hoping that the offer of Champions League football at one of the top clubs in the world won’t tempt the 28-year-old, who has been the key to the club’s defensive play for the last two years.
Agger’s comfortability in possession would fit Barcelona’s style too, as the La Liga champions look to replace the ageing Carlos Puyol.
The Danish centre-back is under contract at Anfield until 2016, after signing an extension back in October.
After Jamie Carragher retired at the end of the season, Agger became the Reds’ most senior centre-back at the club. And with questions over the futures of Martin Sktrel and Sebastian Coates, Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to keep hold of Agger.
Barcelona aren’t the only club reportedly interested in the centre-back. High spending Monaco have also been linked with the Dane, who has been at Anfield since 2006.
Agger scored 3 league goals for the Reds this season, including the first in the Red’s 6-0 thrashing of Newcastle at St. James’ Park.

I think the owners need to make a statement.. If Luis wants to go then let him. Get 55mil for him sell carrol for 15mil, that’s 70mil.
