LFC signingLAST night Liverpool FC confirmed they have finally completed the signing of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, subject to international clearance.

The 25 year old first caught Liverpool’s attention last season after he produced a number of quality performances in the Spanish top flight – his 12 goals helping Celta Vigo narrowly avoid relegation.

Liverpool announced last week that they had agreed in principle an amicable price for both clubs to sign the Spaniard. This figure was not revealed but it is believed to be around £7.7 million.

Aspas was primarily a lone forward during his time at Celta, which will be good news for Brendan Rodgers following the uncertainty of Luis Suarez’s future and the ankle injury that is impeding January signing Daniel Sturridge.

However, his versatile nature means that he is just as effective anywhere across the front line, which will be beneficial to Liverpool in the midst of their lack of consistency in their forward line up.

His skills with and without the ball are also noteworthy, with his wide range of vision whilst on the ball and ability to make smart runs without it, all contributing to his talent, possessing the creativity that Liverpool have had a glimpse of these past few months with Philippe Coutinho.

Aspas is Liverpool’s third signing this summer, with Kolo Toure coming on a free transfer from Manchester City and Sevilla youngster, Luis Alberto, who also completed his move over the weekend.

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

so many attacking options now. Interesting to see how we will cope defensively. Aspas, Sterling, Suso , Alberto, Sturridge, Alsaidi, Suarez, Downing, Coutinho , all part of the forward line

No-one even heard of these players before and now they’re all ‘excited’! Deluded idiots.

I sometime get the feeling LFC have stopped bothering with the older more clued up fans and are just playing up to the younger fifa playing fans, you know, the ones who are more likely to go out and buy the shirts, club merchandise

This is NOT exciting. Top players would be exciting…not average squad players that no top clubs want
