Reds look to complete three quick signings

LFC target PortugalLIVERPOOL are looking to do most of their summer business early, with three players on their radar, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Reds are eager to step up their pursuit of Tiago Llori and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whilst also discovering if they were successful with a bid for Sevilla star Luis Alberto.

A deal for Tiago Llori is nearing completion, after Liverpool had been locked in negotiations for the 20-year-old.

Despite Sporting Lisbon requesting £4.2million for the youngster, it is suggested that the Anfield club have offered closer to the £3million mark.

Llori has expressed an interest in joining Liverpool, and the Reds are hopeful they can use Llori’s interest to finalise talks in the next few days.

Ian Ayre and Brendan Rodgers will then turn their attention to Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scored 25 league goals for the Ukrainian side.

Shakhtar Donetsk are expected to ask for £20million for the Armenian, who scored in the nation’s 4-0 victory over Denmark.

But the transfer of Luis Alberto is out of the Reds’ hands at the moment. The 20-year-old spent the season on loan at Barcelona, who have an option to sign Alberto on a pre-agreed fee. But that option expires after today, meaning Ayre and Rodgers will know tomorrow whether they can bid for the Spaniard or not.

  • JOHN says:

but our first priority should be henrick mhitaryan.who can score the same as suarez or more. also we should not sell suarez.

  • Ahmad zaki says:

The end product will tell our chnce f winning de title

  • Anon says:

I agree john. We should make sure we get in the top guys. Then keep Suarez. Then we’ll be a greater force this season! We know he is not unhappy at “lfc” he is unhappy with how EPL is victimising him. Which is true and even more so because he is a Liverpool player. He has said he is unhappy but that if he stays he will give his all. We will have a strong team!! Why am I not seeing talk about a top or strong defensive central midfielder? Clearly we hav to use make shift centre mids every week….who can’t defend enought to give attacking mids more freedom. Id like to see a mascherano or alonso or another lucas or someone like that. Stevie can be devastating and get forward a bit more

  • red says:

Please stay focus on LFC issue and don’t divert attention to other things. Man Utd without Ferguson is nothing. I expect they will win nothing for next 5 years or so unless a better manager comes to rescue them.

And I’m LFC fan that watch every match in full 90 minutes + all cup matches since 1993. I lost count of how much money spent on supporting LFC all these years.

BR and FSG are HARMFUL to LFC and must be REMOVED as soon as possible. Readers should learn how to agree to disagree.

    • Stevo says:

      @Red

“BR and FSG are HARMFUL to LFC and must be REMOVED as soon as possible. Readers should learn how to agree to disagree.”

explain? rather then just throw comments out there and state the above why not try to explain them! I think you are wayyyy of the mark!

BR has Liverpool playing some of the best football i have seen us play for a very long time, the FSG group are making up self-sufficant, we (Liverpool) have always been history, and bringing players through the youth system (as it is now) so what do you expect them to do? throw 100’s of millions of pounds at the club and for us to go bust like we nearly did 2-3 years ago?

and just because “And I’m LFC fan that watch every match in full 90 minutes + all cup matches since 1993” your post it tosh, more substance is needed!

if i went to a restaurant and after my meal i stated the meal was rubbish and the chef should be removed, then walked out of the restaurant what do you think the owner would do??? NOTHING, because it has 0 substance!

    • Dennis says:

Red . I totally agree . Well said. Don’t mind the dumb kids who have a clue

      • Denis D says:

To the other Denis: Its not Rocket Science, or Fantasy Football or anything,

We have been competing with the likes of Everton, Fulham, Stoke for a top 6-10 position during the last five seasons.

We have not won a premiership for over 20 years, the great Liverpool teams of old that were dominating in the 80’s all had squad class depth and quality.

There was always at least two class quality players competing for one position, sometimes three.

Saying positive things about united Kills me but in all honesty:
Now Manchester United have had that since Ferguson had taken over them. Squad class depth wins, Stop incomplacency and wins you trophies not your best 11.

And that is how it has always been in football, it won’t change anytime soon.

I am just blatantly honest, Facts and Realism is there for all of us to see it is just some fans plan to look through things, as we are looking to try and get back in top 4 . United are the clubs main rivals are looking to retain the premiership again this season. In the five seasons of competing with Everton, Fulham and Stoke for a top 6-10 position in league, How many times have United won the premiership?

    • callum says:

      Your right Red

  • Denis D says:

If Suarez desperately wants to leave, Owners and B Rodgers need to stand firm and should not sell him for no less than £65M to Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Monaco or PSG.

IF Real Madrid have offered over £65M for Bale, Suarez is a better player than Bale and is currently the third best player in world football at the moment. So the owners and Rodgers should not accept nothing less than £65M, the least club should accept from Real Madrid is £47M and either Benzema, Higuain Or Di Maria in the deal.

Other than that £65M on he is not allowed to leave, then with A Carroll to bring in £15.5M, and hopefully Downing can be shipped out for £7-£10, Assaidi should be sold for £2-£4M to Ajax, Borini should be shipped out to fiorentina for £7-£10M , Coates should be shipped out for £6-£8M and Spearing to be sold to newcastle or Palace for £3-5M, Flanagan should be sold for £1-£2m and B Jones should be sold for £1-2M and If P Reina doesn’t want to stay at club, he should be swapped with C Tello(21) and £2M cash.

Then Rodgers would have a huge war chest plus 25-£40M off the owners and there would be alot of spaces to fill:

And these are the places that need filling: to add strength and depth all over the squad, so we have healthy class quality competition at club for every position:

2 GKS To compete with one another: S Mignolet(25) Of Sunderland for £7-8M and A Mccarthy(23) Of Reading for £5-£7M to compete with one another for the no 1 Position ( Total: £12-£15M) Two Good Goalkeepers for next decade competing with one another

Three centre backs are needed to compete with AGGER, Skrtel and Toure both Agger and Skrtel need to be kept at club at all costs: A Pearce(24) Of Reading on free Transfer, K Papadopoulous(21) Of Schalke for £9-£12M and Tiago llori(20) Of Sporing Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £2-£5M (Total: £11-£17M) Then club would have centre back strength on par with uniteds: Evans, Jones, Rio, Smalling and Vidic.

Left Back: A Cissokho(25) Of Valencia for £4-£6M to compete with Enrique

Defensive Midfielder: E Capoue(23) Of Toulouse for £7-£10M to compete and Cover Lucas ( Capoue would be able to match the physical power and strength of the strong powerful midfielders who have caused us problems in the league: Diame, Mikel, Mulumbu, Nzonzi, Sissoko, Tiote and Yaya Toure.

Centre Mid: De Guzman(25) Of Villareal for £5-£7M to compete with Allen, Gerrard and Henderson. De Guzman would bring more goals to side from centre midfield and is a box to box centre midfielder with good engine, passer, good at getting stuck in and a very good player to have at club.

Attacking Mid: I Munian(19) Of A Bilbao for £10-£14M Or H Mkhitaryan(24) Of Shaktar Donesk for £18-£22M to compete with Coutinho, Shelvey and Suso. Some more class, creativity, goals and quality from hole behind the striker / between the lines.

Two Pacey, quick, skillful goalscoring wingers:
RW / RWF: C Tello(21) Of Barcelona for £8-£9M to compete with Sterling

LW / LWF; D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £4-£7M to compete with IBE

FD: L Muriel(23) Of Udinese for £10-£12M to compete with Aspas and Sturridge
FD: C Benteke(21) Of A Villa for £18-£25M to compete with all the forwards at club, then instead of two good strikers in first team, club would have 4 competing with one another and they would all offer something a bit different from one another.

    • Fynest F. says:

Man you have said it all, how i wish the Rodgers can see this it will be very good for the club

    • kevin says:

sounds more like science fiction mate!!!

      • Steve says:

Do you play a lot of football manager?

        • Denis D says:

          RE: KEVIN AND STEVE:

Do you think its a coincidence Our club have been competing with Everton, Fulham and Stoke for a top 6-10 position in the last five seasons?

Our club needs huge over haul of players still: 9 Players still need to be moved on:

Rodgers has shipped out since his reigns: Adams, Aurelio, Aquilani, Bellamy, Cole, Carroll, Doni, Kuyt, Ngoo, Rodriguez, Spearing and wilson. 12 players shipped out, 8 permanent and 4 loaned out.

And only replaced 5 of them, yet 12 left club: Allen, Assaidi, Borini, Coutinho and Sturridge.

The thing is only 3 of the 5 signings have worked and look like Liverpool players: Allen, Coutinho and Sturridge. Assaidi and Borini are both average hard working players.

so that leaves 7 players still to replace at club.

But club still has alot of dead wood average Hard working players to clear out also this summer:

1: GK: B Jones 2: RB: Flanagan 3: CB: Coates 4: DM: Spearing
5: AM: Pacheceo 6: RW / RWF: Assaidi 7: FD: Borini 8: FD: Carroll
          9: LW / LWF; Downing

None of those players will be missed if they were sold tommorrow, None of those players have showed enough class, quality full stop or consistantly to be Liverpool Players.

Those players would all struggle to get in the likes of Southampton, Stoke, Swansea, West Brom and West Ham first 11 week in week out.

So why are they at the club still?

we are supposed to be competing with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham for the 3rd and 4th position in league. So we need to have less poor dead wood average hard working players and more class, quality consistant hungry players with points to prove at club.

And Steve you do the maths, if Rodgers shipped out 12 players so far already and only brought in only 5 players to replce 12, how many players down are we? Plus the 9 dead wood average players most true real Liverpool fans know offer the club very little full stop, need to be shown door.

How many players would need to replaced if the 9 dead wood average hard working players are shipped out this summer?

Not Fantasy football its REALITY and FACTS. Our squad needs a huge overhaul again, if that was not case. Why did Rodgers ship out 12 players in under 11mths?

If we shipped out the 9 dead wood average players also plus your forgetting our loyal great serving vice captain has also retired. That would be 10 players out.

Then i think if the club ever wants to get back competing with United for titles again, then we need to get more depth in every position like the great Liverpools of old had and what Manchester United have had Under Alex Ferguson its not rocket science.

Whereas we have one GD GK in Reina, They have two in De Gea and A Lindegaard. Reina needs healthy competition for his place, so he is always kept on his toes and the mad incomplacencies he has had over the last three seasons would drop drastically if there was someone as good as him competing with him week in week out for his position.

Whereas we had three good class quality centre backs in Agger, Carragher and Skrtel, United have 5 in Evans, Jones, Rio, Smalling and Vidic. Agger and Sktrel need some real class quality competition for their places , so they keep on their toes and are not incomplacent. Toure has been signed but hopefully 3 more centre backs are brought in to compete with Agger, Skrtel and Toure. Skrtel should not be sold, he is awesome centre back and should be kept at all costs.

At Right Full back we are stronger than United: Johnson, Kelly, Wisdom they have Raphael and Jones or Valencia covers him.

At Left Back we Just have Enrique who is class, quality but he has no real competition for his place, where they have Buttner and Evra. So both are kept on their toes, Enrique needs healthy competition for his place.

In Centre midfield we are Equal: we have Allen, Gerrard, Henderson
United had Anderson, Scholes, Carrick and Cleverly.

In Defensive mid we are stronger as we Have Lucas, but he has no real competition for his place and when he is out of team or out injured , we have no one in middle of park breaking up play and tackling. So we look totally different team with Lucas out of team. United had fletcher but he has struggled with illnesses and injuries and is no longer a force in that role. Lucas needs healthy competition for his place

In Attacking midfield: We are slightly stronger than United as we have Coutinho, Shelvey and Suso. United have Giggs and Kagawa. But Coutinho is far superior than Suso and Shelvey and needs someone of his calibre competing with him week in week out to keep him on his toes and not to get complacent.

On the wing: United are alot stronger on wings and have better wing options: we have Assaidi, Downing and Sterling. United have Nani,Valencia and Young and have recently signed Zaha.

Upfront: United are alot stronger than us: where we have two good strikers in Sturridge and Suarez. United have 4: Hernandez, Rooney, Van Persie and Wellbeck.

And no matter how much this kills me saying this, that is why United have dominated the premier league since the 90’s and now and them and City are miles ahead of everyone else at the moment, because United have always had squads with alot of strength and depth within them. We have not had that at club since the 80’s

And until some huge surgery is completed to squad and until our club have two good class quality hungry players competing for every position at club, we will not win a title. All the best teams in the world know its there squad class depth and quality is what keeps them ahead of everyone else.

And its not SCIENCE FICTION OR FANTASY FOOTBALL, ITS FACTS AND REALITY. NOTHING ELSE Just instead of our club doing a Bayern Munich Chelsea, Man City, Monaco, PSG and Real Madrid buy pumping in £250m plus on players in one and Half seasons, Our owners and Rodgers needs to first and foremost ship out the 9 dead wood average players who are simply not good enough.

And bring as much money as he can from player sales, and owners need to back him heavily as Our club need £100-£120M to be pumped in on one season, then we would be back amongst the elite teams again.

i need that Armenian as well as a standard winger (preferrably right footed). Skrtel and Downing should leave pls as long as they can generate enough funds for d procurement of their replacements

  • Kevin says:

I think it’s fairly shrewd business by BR if the Luis Alberto deal pulls off. He’ll have got a experienced and proven squad player in on a free at the back and used the money from the Carroll sale to provide him with 2 extra attacking options as opposed to having none with Carroll out on loan. All done with no net spend. I don’t think anyone could look at that as being anything but good business for LFC.

  • red says:

    @Stevo:

Explain ??? It’s very clear for all LFC dedicated supporters to see. That’s why you need to spend some good money and watch every match in full 90++ minutes. Since when we play CONSISTENT GOOD football under BR ??? Only Suarez goals saved us from further embarrassment. Our league position was distorted by unusual goals by Suarez. King Kenny LFC was way better than BR’s.

In order for LFC to survive and to be a winner again, it needs dedicated, paying, thinking and critical supporters. Where is the stadium as promised by FSG ??? Are you happy with the ticket price and the kits ??? Remember the remark from FSG: “we can compete with everyone in the transfer market”. And what happened to their promise ??? Assaidi ??? Sahin ??? Borini ??? Sturidge ??? Aspas, who ??? Toure ??? More cheapo loan deals ??? More cheapo, second rate, B team, relegation team players, young kids, old retirees for LFC ??? LFC needs world class players. Currently we only have Reina, Suarez, Aggar and inconsistent + aging Gerrard.

Unless you have GREAT manager like Rafa/Ferguson* that know how to use average players according to tactical requirements, you are expected to fail !!! Look at Arsenal, so many years trophyless with average players. This is what FSG attempting to copy. Arsenal low budget operation and huge ROI is what FSG looking for. It is good for business sense but LFC is a GREAT football club. To win trophy and be competitive in all competitions are LFC objectives. Profits are secondary.

LFC under Rafa never fear any team including the Europe greatest teams like R. Madrid, Barca, AC Milan, and local best teams like Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc. And look at BR performance against local better/best teams. Enough is enough. LFC is not BR training school. LFC is not BR personal lab for experimenting with tiki taka concept. LFC also is not FSG cash cow.

LFC managers/owners come and go. I stand by my observation. BR and FSG are HARMFUL to LFC. There is nothing to lose if there is buyer for LFC and BR be sacked next morning. In fact I’m hoping for immediate BR sacking and public listing of LFC so that LFC can be owned by dedicated supporters.

*Man Utd won the EPL numerous times with average players/kids just because they had great manager Ferguson in charge. BR currently only good for smaller clubs in lower league or be a assistant in EPL.

    • Tim Williams says:

Just read this Red and I must say I have to disagree with a lot of what you say. I will seperate:

      1. Unless you are part of a legacy, Shankly/Paisley/Fagan/Dalglish how can you expect any manager to play consistent football in their first season?
      2. Saying ‘without Suarez goals’ is like saying ‘if my aunty was a man…’, We dont know what would have happened without suarez or if he wasnt in form, its speculating. What we can say is that Suarez has seen his best season in a red shirt under Rodgers.
      3. Who is to say we cant compete with anyone in the transfer market if it were a level playing field? It isnt though, we cant offer CL and we cant offer the money City/Chelsea/PSG can. We are also still dealing with the toxic fallout from H&G.
      4. Are you actually slating the signing off Aspas even before it is official?? incredible. Are you the type of person who would only be satisfied if we signed a ‘name’? I would rather the club properly scouted out players and signed good fits than just spending on a ‘name’. Nobody had heard of Michu before last season, but hedid ok!
      5. Whilst I am not putting BR in the class of Rafa or Ferguson, he hasnt done to badly with players like Downing and Enrique has he. Lets not pretend that Rafa was perfect and got 100% out of all his signings! For every Alonso there was a Nunez, for every Torres there was a Keane, for every Mascherano there was a Kromkamp.
      6. Arsenal have average players?? behave yourself, in recent years they have had Fabregas, RVP, Nasri and so on. Their problem has been purely financial as they have been paying for their stadium, so in the meantime have been satisifed with top 4. With that paid off it could be an interesting summer from them. Arsenal are probably the most financially sound club in the league and up there in Europe, so their model isnt too bad to be following. Is it perfect? no? But the basic premise is sound, and if tweaked is excellent.
      7. How are they harmful to the club?? I just dont get it. FSG are stabilising us after the club was almost destroyed, if they are doing so to sell, so be it, but they will have made us an attractive proposition for potential buyers, something we havent been for a long time. If BR is sacked today, do you not think a new manager, even if it was Rafa would need time to settle in??
      8. I dont think anyone is happy with kits or ticket prices, but that is modern English football, it is a money generator, every other English club is doing it. How can you call for world class signings in one breath and want reduced tickets in the other? unfortunately in the modern game they walk hand in hand if you want a club to be self-sufficient.
      9. I agree with you, I would love fan ownership of Liverpool Football club, but this can only ever be realistically achieved if the club is self sufficient and not reliant on rich owners. To be so the books have to balance. Are we not heading that way?

      • red says:

        1. Unless you are part of a legacy, Shankly/Paisley/Fagan/Dalglish how can you expect any manager to play consistent football in their first season?

=> This is LFC. Rafa first session = Champion League trophy, King Kenny first session = save LFC from relegation zone, King Kenny first full session = 2 cup finals, won League Cup trophy

        2. Saying ‘without Suarez goals’ is like saying ‘if my aunty was a man…’, We dont know what would have happened without suarez or if he wasnt in form, its speculating. What we can say is that Suarez has seen his best season in a red shirt under Rodgers.

=> Thanks King Kenny for signing Suarez. Review goals by Suarez, mostly by individual tireless efforts + skills and not the result of BR smart tactics.

        3. Who is to say we cant compete with anyone in the transfer market if it were a level playing field? It isnt though, we cant offer CL and we cant offer the money City/Chelsea/PSG can. We are also still dealing with the toxic fallout from H&G.

=> No above average players want to play under BR. CL is just a convenient excuse

=> Michu was an exception rather than norm. Seriously, Aspas who ???

=> Under Rafa, no matter there were Nunez, Keane, Kromkamp, Traore, Momo, etc LFC was COMPETITIVE and OFFENSIVE. LFC was even better with Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Arbeloe, etc. LFC under BR is BORING and TAME.

=> Arsenal will sell its players when they reached beyond-average standard like the ones you mentioned. Simple business model by Arsenal. Buy young players cheap and sell them astronomically high when they have matured. FSG trying to copy Arsenal. They are stoking Assaidi, Borini, Sturridge, Aspas etc and will sell them when they are matured. The unfortunately thing is, some players never come good no matter how long they are in the club. And most importantly, LFC needs performance NOW !!! Stop cheating fans by the re-building wording.

=> Rafa knows EPL and LFC. Warmup time is not needed for Rafa or any good managers. Rafa first session with Chelsea ended with a trophy. This is what a good manager should be. FSG will put LFC under mid table team category for very long time until it is no more profitable for them. Thanks Fsg but really no thanks.

=> BR is wasting supporters money in sub standard players. LFC supporters also not happy pay good money for watching experimental tiki taka. If we are so desperate, we rather watching real tiki taka in Spain, Barcelona. Are you happy with FSG false promise aka “we can compete with everyone in transfer market” ???

        9. I agree with you, I would love fan ownership of Liverpool Football club, but this can only ever be realistically achieved if the club is self sufficient and not reliant on rich owners. To be so the books have to balance. Are we not heading that way?

=> LFC global brand alone worth than Man Utd debt !!! FSG just lucky to buy it at huge discount. If Man Utd can do it, why not LFC ???

        • Tim Williams says:

          Thanks for the reply.

          1. Cup competitions do not require any level of consistency. Rafa’s league form in that first year was erratic as to be expected. BR actually got more points in his first year. As for Kenny, there was certainly no consistency in the league, and as I said, Cup’s are a different beast. Did I want either sacked? no, but they were which is a seperate issue.

          2. Suarez was a brilliant signing, no denying it, but to withdraw any connection from BR’s management and the improved performances of LS smacks of a blinkered view of BR. Thankfully, LS was brilliant in that first half of the season as FSG left us wanting in August.

          3. you think? LS signed a new deal last year? Again you are speculatingas we dont know know if what you suggest is true. It is quite clear that players do want to play for BR though from the performances we get out of the younger lads and those being brought in. Whether we are after the ‘names’ you want though is more an owner issue than manager issue.

          4. Benteke? Hernandez? Oscar? did we know anything about them before they came to the PL? What did established names like Torres, Shevchenko, Morientes bring to their new teams in PL? I cant believe you are writing Aspas off already. There is a chap on twitter called ‘breakfastpercy I believe who has in the last few days really detailed the scouting system at Liverpool. It is very imp[ressive and I am confident in their ability to spot players to fit at our club. Am I saying Aspas will be a legend? of course not, have no way of knowing, but he has my support and im looking forward to seeing him play.

          5. When you make the point of Liverpool ‘being even better’ that was a few years into Rafa’s reign when he has had time to settle. Rafa was not always offensive, in fact he is quite a defensive minded coach at times. Im not arguing against Rafa, love the guy, but to dismiss BR as Tame and Boring again smacks of blinkers. There have been times this season where our football has been exquisite.

          6. That is the problem with the Arsenal model, but the basis is sound. Again you are speculating, FSG have to date shown no evidence of buying cheap, building up and then selling.

          7. No denying Rafa knows the premier league but it isnt a case of just coming in and managing, certainly not with someone like Rafa. The club needs time to adjust and adapt to to new philosophies and approaches. You cant bring Rafa at chelsea into the mix. Chelsea have a much superior and bigger squad than us and in fairness should have won more this season.

          8. Sub-standard players?? Sturridge and Countinho have been very good so far and allen and borini have seen disrupted seasons through injury, how can they be truly assessed?? I dont think BR is trying to implement ‘tika-taka’ at all, there is an encouragement for players to use the ball well and dominate possession, but this tika taka stuff is a bit of a myth. Am I happy with their comment? Im not arsed, think it was a bit daft to say, but I am pleased with how they have learned and what our policy is looking like now.

          9. lucky to buy at a huge discount? you have any idea how toxic the club was??? Man United started in the 90’s and have been managed extremely well off the field since then. Their marketing model should be copied and we should have done so long long ago

LOVE THE BOTH OF YOU GUYZ FOR THE WAY U VE TAKEN THIS. esp red. while he is afraid nd shares my view on the club being “extremely too big” for rodgers nd our having him is at our expense which is evident in how he has practically nd deliberately deceived most fans into believing we aint worth what we are worth and that he is the best thing that has happened to us in a couple of years. i like fsg just that either ian iyre is giving them bad advice or they dont know how to run a football club. they ve a nice plan but the wrong coach. I know u personally dont think (like every above average player) BR is the right man for liverpool but u believe he can learn with our support. am also afraid that is the kind of guy who would after learning at the expense of the club, dump the family for greener pastures or make demands we cant meet. i do not need to tell why “i think” am right here but i followed this guy from swansea nd there was nothing liverpool about him then nd he hasnt changed a bit.
