Rodgers seeking to assemble a team of winners

LFC coachesBRENDAN Rodgers in a recent statement to Liverpool’s official website, liverpoolfc.com, stated that “In order to breed the consistency needed to give us success, we need to bring in winners – those with the winning mentality,” a sentiment I share completely.

In examining a few top football teams globally, it is clear that they all have one thing in common; they consist of certain individuals, who can be deemed leaders.

These individuals all display the fight and determination required to be successful at the highest level. Their work rate is second to none and each player is aware of his responsibility and will stop at nothing to achieve success.

If Liverpool FC is going to be consistent, then there is no doubt that we need not only look at the player’s skill set , but also their leadership qualities, work rate and their level of determination. In addition to this, each individual should be aware of his responsibilities, so that he can achieve his goals for the team.

Currently, with the retirement of Jamie Carragher, Liverpool FC is left void of that vocal and commanding presence in the heart of Liverpool FC defence. The addition of Kolo Toure may be a sensible move on Brendan Rodgers’ part. Certainly, there can be no doubts as to the quality and experience which Toure brings to the team. He may lack the pace he once had at Arsenal or even at Manchester city for that matter, but there is no question that his ability to read the game at the highest level will be invaluable.

This signing has now allowed Brendan Rodgers to focus his attention on solidifying the Liverpool attack, which he has started with his second signing of the transfer window.

The (expected) signing of striker Iago Aspas looks to be a very good one and at approximately £9million he would be a very welcomed addition to the already talented Liverpool squad.

Iago Aspas is a player not afraid to take on players, he has good close control and excellent dribbling skills; something that is needed at Liverpool Football Club in order to breakdown stubborn defences.

Brendan Rodgers made mention recently that all he needed was an addition of about three or four quality signings to have a squad capable of challenging at the highest levels. Therefore, with two quality signings already secured, who will be next on Rodgers list?

I have been a Liverpool F.C supporter since the mid 80's, I fell in love with this club when I saw the likes of Ian Rush and John Barnes play. I hold a Law degree from the University of London ,and a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of the West Indies.

worst season in decades? please our points tally has grown by 9 in one season the best tally in 4 years solid start let’s build on it next season and search for 70 YNWA

    • scouse ed says:

It IS our worst season in 60 years . Seasons over in February. No cup runs . No Euro qualification. One place better off.

      Embarrassing from start to finish

The above sums up some fans. This is real life not Fifa or Football Manager. Brenda in his first season in charge when being told to cut players wages significantly, had to get rid of numerous players, after that has to rely on younger untested players, got us 9 points more than last season, we scored plenty more goals and conceded 3 to 5 more than last season; that is progress. Having no cup runs or Euro qualification, take a real look at the team above us 4 or even 5 of them have far greater spending power than us, that is if we believe Wenger actually has money to spend, and Everton have had stability.

Please please please we keep getting deluded fan thinking the likes of Carroll are actually class, if they were teams would’ve have lined up last season and be willing to pay good money for them, when we tried to get rid of them. I know Carroll went to West Ham, a team just promoted, the point is if he was class the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham would have took him they all needed a striker.

    • Dennis says:

Fsg gave him 55m . The 3rd highest in premier last season

Any other stupid exfuses you want to get in ?

      • Ibrahim says:

        Spent about: 60mil

        Received in transfers about: 10mil

Cut wage bill reportedly by about: 15mil

        60 – 25 = 35 mil.

Saying that he spent 60mil and got rid of about 10 first team/squad players is rather decent.

        • realist says:

Spent the same NET as dalglish

Had no injuries to major players

          Stop with the dumb excuses

  • peter says:

        • Dennis says:

When we get a proper decent manager then lets stick with him. Rodgers is useless and is making us worse

Like I said . Ask anyone who hates liverpool – should we keep Rodgers ? We know what they will say

      • daft lad says:

Those fans also enjoyed us having Rafa.

  • Kevin Messam says:

Rodgers still has a lot to do, but I say give another full season and see.

  • Raam says:

There’s too much hatred inside someone here. MU stuck with SAF for more than 5years for glory which has never stopped ever since. If everything went according to plan, even K.Dalglish might have succeeded. But who could have guessed Torres will do what he has done!?.Same again with Suarez. BR has to rethink again. Improvements can be seen. So, lets give him time. I dont know how old you are but some of us were there when Liverpool were the kings of England and Europe. And we have the feeling that those days are not far. EPL is a race without finish line, just a sport. End of season is just like a pit stop. Mu went 7 titles ahead and we cought them. Than we raced 11 titles in front and MU cought us. Now they went 2 in front. So what?? Be a good supporter and get behind BR. We will be champions soon. But if you want instant joy, you’re wasting your time at wrong club dude!!

  • Raam says:

By the way, BR might have been SAF first choice to succeed him at MU. And where have some of us been when MC tried to approach BR to replace Mancini.?? Please guys, all of us want the best for our beloved club, so give good comments and stop accusing one another.

    • realist says:

Ha ha haha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Rodgers first choice to succeed fergie ?

Ha ha ha ha ha haha ha haha ha

Where do u get off making up such childish nonsense

You obviously have zero understanding of football

Rodgers is a poor manager. Get over it and stop being such a deluded fantasist

    • David Tobin says:

Raam . You are being silly suggesting that United or City were ever interested in Rodgers

….it’s just not true . Why would clubs who could have their pick of anyone choose a low level guy who has achieved nothing or won nothing ?

You are just making it up . I doubt even a championship club would go for Rodgers after his disastrous first season at anfield

  • paullfc30yrs says:

Whats with all these stupid deluded,”In Brendan I believe” comments?, I have never heard fans say this before, even when we have had great managers who have had a CV which proves they can win trophys, It just sounds like Brendans PR machine.Suarez was always going to be sold, coutinho will be next, probably next season if he has a stunner this. How can we win anything, when we are constantly building, I have never heard so many excuses made “For” any manager, by fans who have no evidence,(only a very poor season,in which we could not beat any top side, bar spurs, unlike last season) to show he can win anything.
