Liverpool pre-seasonLIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers has yet again stated that Luis Suarez will not be leaving Anfield this summer – unless something drastic happens.

Those words have been used to either discourage any suitors who feel they can tempt the Uruguayan striker with bids well below his valuation, or indeed encourage any serious buyers to submit only offers which could be deemed as ‘drastic’.

Last week Liverpool rejected a bid said to be in the region of £30 million from Arsenal, and as the Reds prepare for a second official approach – be it from the Gunners again, or Real Madrid, Rodgers reiterated the club’s stance.

Speaking during an interview in Jakarta where Liverpool are currently touring as part of their pre-season preparations, the Liverpool manager had this to say:

“Luis is a very important member of this squad and I am looking forward to working with him again this season after he had such a fantastic season. There has been lots of speculation about Luis moving to another club but, as I said, he is very much a Liverpool player.

“We had an offer that was nowhere near what we value him at. He’s one of the top strikers in the world.

“Of course he wants to work and play at the top level. But unless something drastic happens, he will be staying here. He has got three years left on his contract. We are looking forward to him helping us get into the Champions League spots.

“That’s a competition we are fighting to get into. The great name and history of Liverpool dictates we should be in that competition.

“No matter who the player is, nobody is bigger than Liverpool Football Club.”

I've produced work for many football media outlets & am now happy to run a major site on the club I love - providing our fans with a voice, and to bring as much information and news on the club as possible.

  • Paul says:

I think the club need to set a dead line if they have any intention of selling. We dont want it to go through on the last moment like it did with Torres. We would panic buy again and put a bid in for Carroll lol

LFC just need to keep the point that if LFC put saurez on the bench then saurez’s chances of playing worldcup will be in danger !! keep up with ur contract with LFC or untill LFC says so , or rot in the bench , and stop with the antics.

    • daniel says:

Using his w/cup chances 2 kip him won’t work 4 LFC. Since his national team still invites a player like Coates who virtually sat on d bench 4 most of last season. LFC should let go of Suarez @ d right price 2 a non EPL team.

  • Steven B. says:

We have good chance of getting back to top 4 if we can only tight up our defence by bringing in the like of Papadopoulos K.and a good defencive midfielder. Sell that idiot L. Suarez a trouble maker, who is he self? Milan Baros goes we’ve Torres . Torres go we’ve Suarez. Let him go another notable will emerge. Follow this trend Ronaldinho-L. Messi-J.Nemary___.

  • Steven B. says:

Henrickh M.has started scoring for BVB.

  • Raam says:

And so did our Aspas and Coutinho and Ibe and Sterling. And Henrikh also out injured for at least 4 weeks.
