Reds set to seal French left-back deal

Aly CissokhoACCORDING to a report from The Express, Liverpool look poised to win the race to bring French left-back Aly Cissokho to the Premiership on a loan deal, despite interest from several other clubs.

Reports in Spain have claimed that Cissokho will be joining the club on a season-long loan, for a fee that is believed to be around £900,000. If Cissokho impresses Reds manager Brendan Rodgers enough then he will have the opportunity to remain at Anfield on a permanent basis for £3.5 million.

Liverpool were not the only Premiership club interested in the Frenchman, with Sunderland also hopeful of procuring the defender but Liverpool are now the front runners in the race, as they hope to provide competition for current left-back Jose Enrique.

Rodgers had admitted that the club were looking at potential left-back, as well as hoping to bolster other positions as well, the Northern Irishman saying:

“There are obviously certain areas of the squad where we’re a bit thinner than others. We probably need a bit more support – that extra bit of quality – at the top end of the field and that’s something we’ll look out for.

“That’ll be mixed with needing cover in the left-back position – that’s something we’re looking at. It’s not really about numbers, it’s about quality. If we can do that over the next number of weeks we’ll be happy.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.

As expected, better players must be sold and be replaced by cheaper option. This is not LFC standard. Even last session relegated QPR never do it !!!

p/s: As predicted, more loan deals coming despite ‘we can compete with everyone’ promise by FSG. Who says FSG is good for LFC ???

The downgrade continues . Top managers/players replaced with cheaper inferior manager/players …..all so the greedy yanks can save money
