MelwoodSPEAKING to Liverpool’s official website, one of the club’s summer signings, Spaniard Luis Alberto, has already set the bar for his success at Anfield, as he is insistent that he wants to emulate the success of former Reds player Xabi Alonso.

Alberto made the switch to Anfield from Sevilla last month as part of Brendan Rodgers’ rejuvenation of the squad.

As a Spaniard, Alberto hopes to join the long line of illustrious countrymen who have enjoyed success after donning a Liverpool shirt. But for the 20 year old, there is only one man who he hopes to live up to, and that man is Xabi Alonso.

Alberto told Liverpoolfc.com: “It would be great to have the same success that Xabi Alonso enjoyed in his time here, for me not only is he an excellent player but also a real professional who you have to admire because it’s something to be proud of that we have players like that in Spain.”

Alberto took his first step towards Liverpool stardom as he took to the field for the first time in the club’s comfortable 4-0 victory against Preston last weekend.

Since Alberto’s arrival he has took the time to get used to the city and have a look around: “In the spare time we’ve had up to now I’ve been into the centre a few times and we had Sunday off so I went over to Manchester then, I want to get out and about and get to know the place as much as I can as it’s very important to do that on all levels.”

Hey all, I'm 17 years old and I've only been writing sports articles for a couple of months. I'm an aspiring journalist living in the Anfield area (about 5 minutes from the stadium, seriously, I can hear the roar of the Kop from my house!) I've been a lifelong supporter along with my entire family (except one Uncle, but we don't need to talk about that) and I've followed the Reds through the good and the bad times - and there's been a lot of both. I recently got accepted into college and shall be taking a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Journalism, with this hopefully being the first step towards a full time career in journalism.
