FSG standing firm on Suarez

Melbourne Victory v LiverpoolI have a lot of time for the way Liverpool have dealt with the Luis Suarez saga so far.

But the time is due where the club need to draw a line under it and say “that’s enough” one way or another.

With just three pre-season games left before we begin our Premier League campaign against Stoke City on the 17th August, the dark cloud of Luis Suarez’s situation continues to hang over Anfield.

One way or another we need to blow that cloud away and concentrate on the ongoing rebuild of our team.

The Americans cop a lot of stick when it comes to transfers at Liverpool, sometimes rightly, sometimes wrongly, but to date they have handled the Suarez situation about as well as they possibly could.

They have rebuffed a laughably low offer of £35 million and have publically poured scorn on the now infamous £40m + £1 offer that has, if you believe what you read, caused FSG to decide to not sell to Arsenal no matter what price they offer.

Strong leadership has not always been forthcoming from the club, but to date you cannot question the resolve of the Americans to keep our star player. Or at least keep him out of the clutches of a domestic rival.

Perhaps FSG have been well briefed about the carnage it would cause amongst our fanbase if we were to sell Suarez to a rival. It would certainly be playing on my mind. Arsenal have become the butt of many jokes having sold their star players in recent years as they take a frugal approach to the market. If we sold Suarez to them, it would evidently weaken us and strengthen our direct rivals for the Champions League spaces that we covet so much.

So far we have stood firm against Arsenal. Our resolve might be tested a lot more if Real come in, but FSG have made it clear so far that Suarez is simply not for sale to The Gunners. But what can the club do now?

After issuing a firm rebuttal to rumours that the club was up for sale over the weekend, I would now like to see the club issue a firm statement saying that Luis Suarez is not for sale to any team in England.

We do not wish to sell him full stop and have no plans to do so “unless something drastic happens,” i.e. Real Madrid make a bid. But with their resources going into the Gareth Bale deal, that at this moment in time seems massively unlikely.

Those were also the words of Brendan Rodgers just last week. “…unless something drastic happens.” And unless something drastic does happen, I think FSG deserve some credit for the way they have handled this situation.

Unless something drastic happens…

My only fear that if Suarez is staying ,his ego will only get bigger. Than he is only playing for himself and not for the team. This will hurt the team more . Or if he decides to bite someone else next season . Hmmmm …..

Liverpool needs to step up we need to invest in Quality players, week in week out in the EPL liverpool keeps puting one on high tension liverpool can do better only when we invest on good players nt average players we bought already this season!

  • fitz says:

    • Vince says:

They’ve shown they don’t want to sell him. If they wanted to make a quick 40 million they would have by now! Too many whining plastic fans talking lots of negative nonsense on this! FSG have only had a few years of king Kenny blowing millions on three players. And the managers been there one season…ONE. Catch a grip bitches

      • Dennis says:

          • Mark Wilson says:

Hmmm. Has Vince got brain damage ? And does he still think we will have 60000 cheering us on while everyone else struggles with FFP ?

Ha ha ha ha ha comedy gold.

  • Mark Wilson says:

Everyone knows Henry will sell if the price is right , it the Torres situation again.
So yet again the transfer window opens for Liverpool near ticket sale time we hear of all these big names we are going to sign and how many then once we all buy our tickets the names go and the numbers drop. Last week Brendan said he expected three marquee signings this week ericksen has gone its all hyped rubbish to sell tops and tickets we will be lucky to see top seven once Luis goes that’s why he’s going he can see it to. We get an past his sell by date ex goner and suddenly we have experience at the back no excuses or hiding places this season Brendan and Ian come December and we have 3 wins and draws or defeats what then more pr rubbish on who we will sign in January, everyone else has strengthened with experience we have not and our target is top four most players want to win the league how about saying that from time to time. How many times did Luis pull us out of a hole last season never mind meaningless end of season wins with tea s who were booking their hols. Stop the pr rubbish tell us the truth three marquee signings never will happen. Sick of the yanks we are going nowhere with fsg.

  • Patrick says:

No Suarez = no top 4. Simple
Suarez saved our season last and we r hopeless without him. BR doesnt have a clue and is not bringing anybody gud into d squad. Suarez SOS

  • max says:

My problem is not that Suarez leaving, its the timing.
Im worried Arsenal in the last minute might pluck up the courage top ay the money then we will have no time to recover to get a replacement. Also suarez could hand in a last minute transfer request??

We will have to wait until December to get a replacement, by that time we will be way behind the top 4.

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

what planet is vince from????? i doubt that sucker is a lfc fan. get real or better still come to planet earth nd see for yourself

  • Gthor says:

Suarez is a great player, but he thinks it is all about himself. At LFC we know that nobody is bigger than the club and this Suarez saga is hurting our furture plans. Sell him right now and let´s be done with it. I would prefer to be in fifth place than having to read all the filth that has been said about my club, manager and owners by our own supporters, all becouse of a striker that has been given the chance to shine at Liverpool FC and dos not appresiate his status in the team. SELL HIM QUICKLY.

    • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

“i will prefer to be in fifth place…….” really? well, unfortunately, we are in 8th and wont get to 5th anytime soon with the way things are going… “all because of a striker that……” its all because we have the wrong coach and players who ve lost their ambition cos there coach has no ambition.

      • Ozred says:

Right… Benitez had lost his ambition when he landed us in 7th or whatever it was in his last year? But hang on, he’s the bloke everyone wants back???

KD- Also clearly lost his ambition by landing us in 8th and blowing $100m… But half the * in here wanted him.

Rogers i year 1 improves us to 7th with mtigating circumstances destroying our front half of the year and everyone wants him sacked… The grass is always greener.

Just get behind your club and stop whining. If he’s proved to be no good he’ll be moved on, Give me any manager with the team we had last year that can take us to the top 4 and i’ll show you a mirical worker.

        • Dennis says:

Blah blah blah . ” be a sheep , believe what your told and support your club”

Same old braindead rubbish from you

Always excuses and ‘mitigating circumstances ‘ NONSENSE

You haven’t a clue about football

  • vicky says:

fsg are toying with my club and fans. Alot promises but not yet fulfill. Imagine news coming out from shalckr 04 today about papadolopous. Fsg should please offer lfc to those who value round lether game.we can’t be losing our top target every time. Henrik, have gone, now papa ll soon gone. No better signing and we are aiming for top 4 not even how to win the EPL.what a shame.

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

  • Aaron says:

    @vince. Shut the fu@k up , u complete Bellend

  • Paula says:

I just wish Luis would stay and brendan would go. Luis is Liverpool standard Brendan is not

  • Tired of the whining says:

Haven’t been on this site for a fee weeks, forgot how depressing all the comments are. Season hasn’t even started in ernest and so many here only want to focus on the negatives, completely ignoring any positives. I can’t see why the team should even bother with the doom and gloom so many here prefer to wallow in. New season, clean slate, so many unknowns. Relax and try to enjoy the Team we love instead of working so hard to find the negatives.

    • Maxwell says:

It’s a negative period in our history. There are little or no positives. Go back to burying your head in sand and pretend everything is ok
