FSG standing firm on Suarez

Image for FSG standing firm on Suarez

Melbourne Victory v LiverpoolI have a lot of time for the way Liverpool have dealt with the Luis Suarez saga so far.

But the time is due where the club need to draw a line under it and say “that’s enough” one way or another.

With just three pre-season games left before we begin our Premier League campaign against Stoke City on the 17th August, the dark cloud of Luis Suarez’s situation continues to hang over Anfield.

One way or another we need to blow that cloud away and concentrate on the ongoing rebuild of our team.

The Americans cop a lot of stick when it comes to transfers at Liverpool, sometimes rightly, sometimes wrongly, but to date they have handled the Suarez situation about as well as they possibly could.

They have rebuffed a laughably low offer of £35 million and have publically poured scorn on the now infamous £40m + £1 offer that has, if you believe what you read, caused FSG to decide to not sell to Arsenal no matter what price they offer.

Strong leadership has not always been forthcoming from the club, but to date you cannot question the resolve of the Americans to keep our star player. Or at least keep him out of the clutches of a domestic rival.

Perhaps FSG have been well briefed about the carnage it would cause amongst our fanbase if we were to sell Suarez to a rival. It would certainly be playing on my mind. Arsenal have become the butt of many jokes having sold their star players in recent years as they take a frugal approach to the market. If we sold Suarez to them, it would evidently weaken us and strengthen our direct rivals for the Champions League spaces that we covet so much.
[ad_pod id=”unruly-video” align=”center”]
So far we have stood firm against Arsenal. Our resolve might be tested a lot more if Real come in, but FSG have made it clear so far that Suarez is simply not for sale to The Gunners. But what can the club do now?

After issuing a firm rebuttal to rumours that the club was up for sale over the weekend, I would now like to see the club issue a firm statement saying that Luis Suarez is not for sale to any team in England.

We do not wish to sell him full stop and have no plans to do so “unless something drastic happens,” i.e. Real Madrid make a bid. But with their resources going into the Gareth Bale deal, that at this moment in time seems massively unlikely.

Those were also the words of Brendan Rodgers just last week. “…unless something drastic happens.” And unless something drastic does happen, I think FSG deserve some credit for the way they have handled this situation.

Unless something drastic happens…

Ever seen melgarejo play? Or papadopulos? I can tell you skertel is above his level!

  • Solomon Ezobi says:

FSG, I do agree with your blog, have shown some solid resolve and character in the matter of Suarez. As you rightly said, selling your priced jewel to your rivals in the PL depicts weakness.
We are building a solid foundation as LFC# to get back to where we belong. No backtracking now or in the future……. YNWA LFC#

  • ken says:

they can have credit when the season starts with suarez a liverpool player, until then they have only said no to a price that liverpool and arsenal new wasnt near enough if arsenal come back with a 50 plus big and they say he is not for sale i will give them credit then.

  • Ismailfc says:

I hope FSG did good thing because selling luis in the premier league clubs will be problems and i am sure suarez still likes the club if he wanta to leave the club he could ask but when this topic about suarez started since now he never asked anything i wish he will be at anfield next 1 or 2 years

  • Ismailfc says:

We may sell suarez but when? When he ask transfar request not and also when we get good finisher like Soldado Lewandowski Matri Benteke but if suarez is sale please sell him out of the premier league clubs

  • david says:

Now is the time for the Manager to demonstrate his skill as a top man-manager. He must emphasise to Louis Suarez how important he is to the club and be prepared to sit down and re-negotiate a contract that would benefit both player and club. An increase in salary combined with a release clause that would allow the player to move abroad next year to another football league for a given price, if the reds do not qualify for the CL, should provide the incentive for him to remain at Anfield. In any event he must remain until next year.

    • El blondo says:

It must be hard for Suarez to take lectures on loyalty from Rogers considering a year ago he jumped ship from Swansea for the opportunity to manage a top 7 team. Not exactly lead by example man management of top players.

    • Kelvin says:

Nobody can believe a word out of rodgers mouth. He is probably one of the reasons Suarez wants out

      • jack says:

Good point. Im sure if we had a decent manager Suarez might not want to leave so badly

        • Vince says:

He’s the reason Suarez stayed last year you’re all muppets on here honestly!! I can even get you quotes of Suarez saying something to the effect of ‘I see what Brendan is trying to install here, and it really excited me for the future’ or whatever. I don’t want Suarez anyways. It’s not about a star striker it’s about the team. Think back to 2005! (If you’ve been supporting them that long!) I honestly can’t wait for BR to shut all you yapping plastic * up. Show some bloody support. Seriously. Shankley was a nobody when he started. Just a thought.

          • Dennis says:

            Ha ha ha ha .
Suarez stayed because of Rodgers ? Ha ha ha ha

Get off the drugs you delude

Blah blah blah the usual ‘support your team’ nonsense.
            We support Liverpool not Rodgers

          • Dennis says:

You are a sheep vince. The same fool who said Suarez is not thst good . Lol

    • Greg says:

Suarez knew full well his importance beforehand, if anything he’s too aware of how valuable he is, the problem is he wants out. Unless there is some Damascene conversion in him, the best LFC can hope for is that Bale doesn’t go to Real Madrid and they come in for Luis. The big test for FSG will be if no foreign club comes in but a £50 million or more bid from a more or less direct competitor does. Do they then sell and so probably strengthen an opponent but also LFC hopefully with the funds made available, or, try and keep an unhappy player, with the opponent looking elsewhere and probably strengthening anyway but with LFC weakened if LS then goes dark on us? Given his “previous” in such circumstances even if there was a sudden blinding white light and a booming voice talking to him he’d probably just ask if they were in the CL and refer them to his agent!

  • Ismailfc says:

This will be good XI if BR make it like this Mignolet…..Johnson……Dagger………Kolo toure………Enrique………..Lucas……..Countinho…..Gerrard………Aspas…….. sterling…………stturidge i am sure we will get the first 10 games and after 6 games we will be unstoppable club because our hero luis back in action

  • stevie says:

Why keep a player who doesn’t want to be there?

    • RedFactor says:

How tru are things written about what Suarez said or did, from which we r drawing conclusions he wants out?

    • Top keeper says:

2 reasons 1Suarez is under a 3 year contract. 2Know body has put a bid in of £55 million +

  • Liam says:

Fsg can not be trusted , they are simply holding out for more money

  • red says:

Just a pricing issue and not because FSG values Suarez ability.

  • halroth says:

Football has changed and fans unfortunately need to realize they are fans of a business not just a team. FSG has done an excellent job so far as has BR. Get off there backs and have some belief. Since January we have not done a bad bit of business in the market. In comparison to the past 10 years this may be our best transfer market especially since we can’t offer champions league football.

    • jack says:

Lol. My friend go see a shrink please. If u think Rodgers has done a good job u need help

      • Vince says:

How hasn’t he? He’s changed so much as so much was wrong, therefore you can expect a rough start. Still finishing a place above last season. Isn’t going up an improvement? Keeping Suarez last season. Bringing in Coutinho. Getting the most out of Kenny’s flop, Henderson? Bring our quality youth into the team sensibly? You’re just wrong mate. You need to see an optician if you think there’s been no movement since the Kenny, Hicks and Gillette saga.

        • Dennis says:

Lol. Another dope who doesn’t understand football. It was Liverpools worst season in 50 years

Your just another sad Rodgers apologizer with rubbish excuses

Rodgers is a championship manager , out of his depth at a bigclub

          • Vince says:

Worst ‘start’ mate. I think youll find we finished above 8th this year. You obviously don’t understand football. Whilst massive changes are being made results will suffer. Then to finish above last year after such a bad start that shows his strength. Coming tenth and beating us in first season up? Stop kidding yourself. Liverpool have a young manager from a premier league side, who also managed a championship side (extremely well) get over it. *

          • Dennis says:

A season is over 4 competitions not just one

Do you even understand English ?

IT WAS our worst season in over. 50 years

Your just ful of sad excuses , massive changes ? So had Kenny and Roy. Wake up

          • Erin says:

Denis, in the first 10 games it was the worse start since football turned pro! You have to go to the 1895 it something!!!

  • Adam says:

I’m sorry guys, but Liverpool has been very poor the last few seasons having luis still I can’t see us breaking top 5.

  • Adam says:

Sell luis so we can get in some happy players, luis is not English so why expect loyalty,

  • Dean Fitzpatrick says:

What Fsg should really do is sell the club,Ian ayre needs to step aside an we need recognized management,no big name will sign for Brenda, where are the 2 big names he promised.they are nowhere to be found because he is out of his depth and the owners are flat broke or just to greedy to spend.its beginning to get a lot like the last 2 cowboys I’m a very worried red because this is all goin downhill and very fast at that

    • 5times says:

FAKE fsg should sell up.. B4 we kick you out as we did the last 2 gay cowboys !

    • Vince says:

That’s supporting your team alright! Brendan is a fine manager. Just because he’s not foreign and he’s Irish doesn’t make him out of his depth in the EPL. He changed drastically the way our team operates last season (his first may I add, so judge him this season). And in the latter half of the season we were incredible. Most goal scoring chances created in the whole league. Kept suarez last season, brought in Coutinho and Sturrige whis goal to games ratio was outstanding. Managed to get performances from Kennys flops hendo and downing who are now playing really well. Brought in Toure to replace carraghs experience. Got the modt iut of our youngsters! Promoted Swansea from a league that’s more difficult to play in the EPL (given the standard isn’t as high) and managed to beat Liverpool and grab 10th in his first season! Fair enough its not champs league but All managers start somewhere and i cant fault him. improved on last season. improved our football and brought in a few really decent players. Stop bitching and get behind the team we have. Negative *like yourself are in demand over at old Trafford. Call yourself a supporter? Where’s your support?!

      • Dennis says:

Ha ha ha ga . What a utter delude
        More dumb excuses

Any proper Liverpool fan should want Rodgers out. I support Liverpool not Rodgers. Liverpool made a huge mistake hiring Rodgers. I suppose idiots like u were sad to see Hodgson go too ?
Fickle and stupid fools like u Vince are not real supporters…your sheep

  • Jay keegan says:

Alex ferguson has played hard ball on numerous ocassions look what he got out of the game

  • nickliv23 says:

To the doubters I am mildly suprised at some of the outs, but I also see a lot of positives in coutiniho & aspas to name but two.as for big name signings – back to the glory days. Kenny who. graham who. alan who.well I will tell you who Kenny Dalglish. Graham Souness. Alan Hansen. Just to name 3 legends who came to liverpool from nowhere. Think its time to give Brendan a chance. This season will be the one to judge him & the club on. The same I think will also apply to John Henry &F.S.G.

  • Ibrahim says:

FSG should simply sell the club to any interested oil rich Arab, one who can spend and get us the much desired EPL tittle. We just have to spend and get quality players, gone are the days when we shall continue to talk of past glories.

    • David says:

There are too many idiots on this site

Rodgers and FSG will take us back to the top where we belong

Last season we had the most shots on goal in Europe! For a first season that’s not bad at all

      • Tommy says:

Ha ha ha ha . What a deluded fool.

We will never get anywhere with these clowns. Rodgers will be sacked after this season..only deludes like u think otherwise

And woooooo….most shots ? Wow . Who cares how many shots we have ? That’s idiotic . Anyone can take a shot . It’s winning matches that is important

And you haven’t even got that right ! I know for a fact Madrid had more shots (probably loads more teams too). So stop making up silly fake stats (again)

        • Vince says:

Madrid?!!!?! hahaha, the EPL you tit. We finished strong after a bad start (which any intelligent and rational human being would have expected with such massive changes brought in) and those statistics about goal scoring chances (not shots, learn to read) show our style of football is improving and we can threaten teams again. And I can tell you now! You certainly have no clue as to the finances of FSG, so admit that to yourself. They don’t want to throw money away. The change needs to be permanent, sustainable. Not irrational. Things are being done in a way in which once we improve we can stay there. Financial FairPlay is almost upon us and soon it will be how much you bring in, not what your oil merchant has in his account. Acquisitions in warrior and standard chartered, plus the stadium improvements should see us in the top spenders in the league. But you can’t expect this to be done over night. Your argument has no basis mate. We have improved since last season and you can’t deny that. If your a supporter you show it no matter what the club does. Stand by your club unconditionally. That’s what my father taught me about supporting LFC. You obviously know nothing through your whining demonstrations of ignorance.

          • Dennis says:

            What a moron ‘vince’ ..a total *.

Any idiot who believes in financial fair play probably believes in Santa too

And the fool David said ‘most shots in Europe’ so learn to you read

            Dumb kid

        • Vince says:

Mate you’re a FOOL HAHAHAHAHA. Liverpool did have most goal scoring chances in EUROPE. Beating Barca and Madrid. Unlike you I do my home work. Unlike you I SUPPORT my team. Unlike you I don’t hate a manager who’s been in charge for ONE season. Unlike you i dont pretend to know the hidden agendas of multi million dollar companies thousands of miles away. Unlike you I don’t judge a manager coming seventh after coming 8th a miserable season before. You’ve shown yourself to be nothing but a thick, ignorant plastic ‘fan’. I’m a supporter. I back my team against all odds.

          • Dennis says:

No sheep . You *. Post a link showing Liverpool had more shots

Your facts are wrong as always

      • Vince says:

Totally agree mate. Note 100% on your stats but finishing one place above last season in your first year after changing do much? You can’t deny that’s an improvement. Bringing in quality like Coutinho & Sturrige who had an unbelievable goals to games ratio. Solidarity not bitches please YNWA

        • Dennis says:

Oooh .1 place above . Minus a trophy , 2 cup finals and some respect

Only a total half-wit could last season wasn’t anything but a embarrassment

          • Vince says:

No Dennis, I was referring to my comment. But only a half wit wouldn’t know his own teams shots stats were the best in Europe. A key indicator of strong attacking play. rather than last year’s hitting the post the most award. I’d prefer to keep progressing in the league than win a mickeymouse cup and lose a final. Do you mean an embarrassment like making team wear Suarez t-shirts? Buying *player for a total of £70M? I’d say it was better. You’ve no grounds to assume Rodgers is incapable and FSG are snakes.

          • Vince says:

I think you mean an** embarrassment, much like your spelling. Again being so negative. At this stage I can pretty much guarantee you know nothing of financial FairPlay but continue to blindly reject it as everything’s * isn’t it Dennis. Grow up and stop bitching. I hear Man U are short of fans. You’d fit right in.

          • Vince says:

How can it be a fact if it’s wrong? My god you are uneducated to a level of disbelief. Google it yourself. It’s there for the world to see. Only a fool would say someone was wrong before knowing for certain (much like your presumptions on Liverpool) so why ask to post the link if you know I’m wrong? Google it, tell me Im right, then throw up a rope and do us all a favour. So we can get back to SUPPORTING OUR team no matter what the state of affairs are.

          • Vince says:

By the way, you’ve called me a ‘cabbage’ several times without a visual description. Would you like me to send you an email of other ‘insulting’ nouns, so no one else can see? Then you’ll look like you actually have some degree of intellect apart from your wildly-placed negative assumptions and badly worded criticisms as well as your poorly judged statements on accurate stats. Either way I’m proud to be better than you as I’m proud of my club and everyone in it. Proud to be a true supporter.

          • Dennis says:

You haven’t a clue . Not one thing u say on here is ever reality

FACT ..Madrid and juventus had more shots than Liverpool…so you as usual are wrong

            Unlike u , I know what I’m talking about

            http://www.footsteps.co.uk/index.cfm?task=leagues

Who cares anyway . Most shots means nothing…but this proves your silly make believe stat wrong

          • Mark Wilson says:

Well vince ? Your little ‘fact’ is wrong as usual

Check these things out before ,so u might not appear as stupid as you always do

          • Dennis says:

            Lol. Vince believes

            1. We will have a new stadium next season
            2. Financial fair play will matter(ha ha ha ha)
            3. Liverpool will win tge league soon. (lol)
            4. Faires will make all this happen

Never before gave I seen such a delude . He probably is only a kid

    • Vince says:

Financial fair play is coming in next year you numpty. Spend only what you make. Not whats in your rich owners bank account. We’re not like Chelsea or man city. We’re building something more permanent. The stadium at 60,000 seats will bring us more money than most teams next season! We have class not cash and I prefer it as that’s what makes Liverpool. We will be there sooner than your doubting mind can imagine. Support your team! Stop wishing for players we don’t have and get behind the ones we do. Unity. Hope. Support. YNWA

      • Dennis says:

        Lol. Lol .lol

        Financial fair play ?

Someone get this clown a lobotomy

And this ignoramus actually thinks fsg will deliver a new stadium

        Ha ha . What a *

        • Vince says:

I really would love to post that link but don’t want to be held responsible for your actions after fining out you’re wrong and wrong about a whole lot more. The fact that you deem a manager after one season, to be inept just because he recently came up for the championship shows you’re as plastic as they come. I can post you a video of how to make a rope if you’d like?

      • Dennis says:

Lol . Vince believes we will have 60000 next season. This kid is beyond stupid

        • Vince says:

I didn’t say a new stadium and I didn’t say by next season. So you can stop laughing like a deranged chimp. You literally are the most unloyal *of a supporter I’ve ever come across on the internet and trust me thats not easy! I’ve been lucky enough to see Liverpool lift a league trophy and I’m telling you it will happen again soon. You’re the blind fool. Take a look at yourself and the amount of utter *you’ve spouted about the club you ‘love’. You’re an absolute joke of a supporter lad.

          • Dennis says:

            1. You DID say next season. Your soooooooooo dumb you cant even read your own comments

“the stadium at next season will bring 60000 seats will bring us more money tHan most teams NEXT season”
            …your quote ..can’t u read ?

Vince has now ran off crying because I proved his little stat to be false and made up like the rest of the rubbish he wrote

        • Dennis says:

Maybe the fairies will build it in time for next season. Lol

  • REDDY says:

Sell Suarez for 50/55mil if we get a bid in that region.. He is unloyal and not worthy of the Red shirt! He says the fans n club never stood by him? We were ridiculed n made a laughing stock because of him yet we still stood by him!!! Take the money, buy Yilmaz(17mil), Luis Murial(15mil), Erriksen(15mil), Munian(10mil)… That’s 4 top players for 1 backstabber! Fsg promised 2 marquee signings so I think they should get us Bernard/ Di Maria and Sakho/Toby Alderwield… Top 4 is ours!!! Then MR.Suarez will see who’s a bigger club, I remember a certain MR.Torres said the same thing about he was going to a bigger club.. Lol and how did that turn out for him??? YNWA

I said no to FSG and I was right. Stadium news i.e. planning permission was due in spring then before the season starts. Both dates give by Ian Ayre. Now this. Loan signings galore. Be under no illusion the turnover will shoot up markedly this year with tv deals and increased ticket prices and the second kit in two years.

They are milking us. And I said it from the start.

ALL TRUE LFC FANS REJECT FSG.

Don’t give me all that “we are financially better off”.

Ofcourse we are better off, turnover is up and spending is down.

No progress being made however on the pitch.

FSG pls sell to Saudi Aramco Oil… Biggest company in the world rated by Forbes. Net worth of over $900billion. That’s wat we need. Not these Yanks who want to make money and not worry about titles! Brendan and Fsg out!!! We are not Man City, Chelsea, Psg, Monaco.. Cos we already One of the biggest most succesful clubs in the world. We have a rich history, we don’t need to build 1.. Just improve on 1. Those 4 clubs I mentioned would be nobodys without their sugar daddys! We are already a huge club.
