LIVERPOOL midfielder Lucas Leiva has said that striker Daniel Sturridge, born in Birmingham, plays more like a Brazilian than Lucas himself, after a fantastic start to the season, reports the Daily Mail.
Sturridge has already notched four goals in three games; his brace against Notts County adding to his winning strikes against Aston Villa and Stoke.
Sturridge, who arrived from Chelsea for around £12 million in January, has already garnered an impressive record for the Reds, scoring an astonishing 15 goals in a mere 19 appearances.
Lucas said of Sturridge:
“I think Daniel is a player who needs to feel important. When he has a responsibility to step in and score goals he becomes a big player.
“I remember at Bolton when he was on loan from Chelsea he was really important for them and scored a lot of goals.
“Daniel needs to feel that the team are really behind him and he’s got that here. What we’re all trying to do is make him feel really comfortable. He has scored a lot of goals since he joined the club and has made a really good impact. We hope he keeps that form going.
“With me being a holding midfielder, Daniel plays more like a Brazilian than I do!”
