ACCORDING to The Liverpool Echo, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed that he will not send out young striker Fabio Borini on loan.
The 22 year old has found himself on the bench for the Reds’ first two Premiership games and his season at Anfield was not as he would have imagined it, with two injuries meaning he only acquired a mere 20 appearances all season.
The Italian, however, did return in April and bagged himself a goal when Liverpool thrashed Newcastle 6-0.
Despite this, Rodgers is adamant that Borini, who came to Anfield for £10 million, should be given more time to settle in at Liverpool and says that Borini was brought in as a future investment. Speaking ahead of the Capital One Cup, the Reds boss said:
“Borini is in the squad for tonight, he’s working tirelessly, he has not got the goals over the pre-season that his work deserved. You can still see his hunger, he is working hard to get into the team and make an impact.
“Any players coming here needs time to adapt. He was a threat so we brought him here not just for the now but for the future as well.”
When asked if there was a possibility of shipping him out on loan, Rodgers replied:
“Not at this moment in time. We want to have a strong group all season for us. We want to make sure there is competition in the group.
“If you have a goalscorer it is always good to have them. He has not expressed a desire for a loan move, he is very settled here. He is fighting to improve and doing extra after training.”
Hope he stays injury free for the new season.
He shouldn’t be loaned out , he needs to be sold . Never good enough for LFC
