Has Rodgers earned big-money backing?

SpursSO, by now Willian will almost certainly have signed for Tottenham.

At the time of writing, many reports state that he was in London having a medical and that Spurs are due to close a £30 million offer for the Brazilian winger.

It’s always disappointing to miss out on a great player, especially after he’d followed Lucas and Coutinho on Twitter and gotten us all super-excited!

Of course, it is these small things that make transfer sagas so tedious these days and why, regardless of who we do – or don’t – sign, I’ll be glad to see the back of this particular transfer window.

The most disappointing aspect of the short and, probably, bitter-sweet Willian transfer saga is that for a time he actually seemed keen on Liverpool. There were some quotes and altered odds to show that he apparently wanted to move to a club ‘like Liverpool’, so the groundwork was done.

But, as has happened already this summer, Liverpool refused to match the high-end offer and will more than likely be missing out on what you may describe as a marquee signing.

I completely understand that FSG do not want to be burned the same way they were with Carroll and Downing a few years ago. The money squandered on these two was ridiculous and when you consider that Manchester City have spent barely more than half for Sevilla’s Navas and Negredo; two players who are likely to be pivotal in City having a successful season.

I get that they’re concerned about spending a similar amount of money on a single player and I would ordinarily agree, particularly as Willian is hardly known as a world-beater and £30 million (plus £5 million in future fee) is a hell of a lot of money for a club like Liverpool but Brendan Rodgers and the fans didn’t make the mistakes of signing Carroll or Downing, so why should we be made to pay?

Liverpool are in a much better financial position than we were 3, 2 or even 1 year ago, yet it’s beginning to feel like we’re selling before we can buy. We shot out of the blocks once the window opened but it feels a lot like we’ve stagnated since.

If FSG are unwilling to fund the transfer of a player like Willian, then that’s fine. If they’d prefer to spend that money on a several players that will improve the squad, fine – they’ve done that. But we’ve brought in upwards of £20 million in selling Carroll and Downing and we’ve also cleared theirs, Pepe Reina and Jay Spearing’s wages off the bill in recent weeks, so surely the risk is worth the reward and, if he turns out to be a dud, then he can still be sold on at a decent fee.

With the signings Rodgers has made so far, only Oussama Assaidi has really failed to impress and even then I’d argue that he hasn’t been given a fair go, after having looked fairly impressive in several starts and substitute appearances.

The likes of Coutinho and Sturridge, and now new signings such as Aspas and Toure all seem to show that – against my better judgement – Rodgers may know how to pick up a relative bargain. So shouldn’t he be given the opportunity to spend big? Kenny was given the chance to spend big and made incredibly expensive mistakes. In fact, I’d even go as far as to say that between them, he and Comolli have seriously set us back because now FSG are reluctant to properly back the manager.

But Rodgers has proven that he is able to get good value for small amounts and should be given the opportunity to spend bigger. If that comes with the requirement that we have a much better season, then so be it.

I’m sure it’s one he’d accept if it meant adding genuine attacking quality to the side. Not only that, but a signing like this would show the want-away Suarez that we mean real business.

There’s still over a week to go though and things could chance. While Willian will almost certainly be a Tottenham player by the time you’re reading this, there are still plenty of quality players we could bring in and the time between now and September 1st could prove to be more crucial for FSG than anybody.

As a Spurs fan, I know 1st hand the damage Comolli can do to a club. Selling Torres for £50m could have been great for Liverpool, but wasting money on over rated English players has probably set u back 2-3 years.

    • Ben says:

Yeah I definitely agree Liam. We could have really pushed on and blew it!

With regards to the original article, I was under the impression that we bid enough to get the player and were willing to pay enough in wages, but he chose Spurs as they have European football (albeit Europa), are a team on the up (not sure how Bale going will affect this) and he’s friendly with the manager (plus they have a top guy working behind the scenes to bring players in)!

I am not going to take the easy option to stick a knife into Liverpool. instead I will say once I used to envy Liverpool fans and I as a Spurs fan I know what its like to be in mediocrity. Not saying Liverpool will only be a midtable team, in fact far from it. I just cant see them forcing theur way into the top four. They finished way behind Spurs in terms of points and Spurs spent 90 million so far and possibly more to come. Liverpool unless they match the spending power will fall further behind which is unavoidable. Liverpool directors must give Rodgers some serious money because Liverpool can not rely on Gerrard and Suarez alone. Cotinho and Lucas are not a match against Brazils first choice midfield of Paulinho and Sandro with Wilian. I think Liverpool owners should look at Spurs model and copy them. its not only about transfers, Spurs have now the best training facilities in Europe with a new stadium on its way too. I hope Liverpool to well this season.

    • Ivor mediocre one says:

Sad, but true! I think Arsenal will miss out on the CL from now on (thank God, as they don’t show enough ambition for me, just content to be in it, but not to win it) and the only thing that can bring LFC back into the mix is massive spending (as you say), very astute signings that turn into world class players and stay (takes time), new owners (back to massive spending) or the financial fair play rules biting other teams on the ass (mostly Man City, but also Spurs if Bale stays)!
Time will tell, but I’m not expecting miracles!

    • Erin says:

All spurs need to do now, is to keep bale till next year and they have a tittle challange.
I’m impressed by the way they are replacing bale. I advocated we do the same with Suarez. Replace his goals/assists and move on. Good luck to spurs , that’s all ill say. Willain could be a great signing.

    • paullfc76 says:

A lot of truth in what you wrote, Spurs midfield looks stronger than ours which I believe is where most games are won or lost, thought we looked impressive on the opening day but we need to see how we perform against the top teams. FSG are not going to invest heavily, that much is clear, which is staggering considering out record sponsorship deals, TV revenue, Season ticket increases, money generated from players sold and the lowering of the wage bill, we should be able to compete with the top teams as regards transfers.

  • AGF says:

Rodgers is David Brent in disguise. The guy has foot in mouth disease – fancy saying he has improved the squad and now needs to improve the first team and no new players since. We have ana even smaller squad than last year. We will end up 6th at best this season and thats if we dont lose a major player like Coutinho or Gerrard or Sturridge. Cant see us ever getting back into the top four without an owner willing to spend really BIG. No-one wants to come to us as we are not in the Champions League and havent been for 4 years. It will be 5 years next year if we dont dig very deep in the next 9 days and get 2 or 3 WORLD CLASS players not journeyman players like Aspas and unproven youngsters like Alberto.

    • Al says:

Agreed, I don’t think Liverpool will be anywhere near 4th spot this season – we will show promise but will not be enough for Suarez or continuo who likely will be off next season then were back to square one. We need to spend big on a couple of high value established players to encourage others to come.

Spurs, arsenal , city, manure, Chelsea are miles ahead of us so 6th is the best we can hope for. I reckon it will be quite entertaining ride tho this season!

    • roythered says:

True, but not going to happen.

  • Red Ted says:

There was a huge amount of money wasted on Carroll, Downing and Adam but it wasn’t FSG who provided the funds. The money from Torres and Babel was simply recycled. FSG are in profit during this summer’s window and need to demonstrate that they mean to move quickly to get LFC back to Champions League level. Top players will only come if FSG show that they mean business; relying on Ibe and Sterling to come good isn’t the profile of a club moving on quickly. Rodgers is a novice manager, unknown to Europe, so it’s FSG who need to present a modern and progressive face – keep Ayre in the cupboard of course!

  • myleftball says:

He has not been backed in the window at all. Any player we’ve signed we have had to let go of one. We have improved the squad no doubt but the net spend can only be something like 5 million.

    • blindside says:

Our net spend is actually our net saving. We are still £4M in the black this summer. We are only spending what we get from selling. There’s a term for a club like that but I just can’t put my tongue to it….It might be interesting if we can get a marquee for that £4M – anyone seen that white rabbit lately??

  • pat49 says:

Alltough lfc have got a few decent plaers since january this policy of buying young upcoming players is allwell and good but we need expierenced markie players with the knowhow and CL expierence to get us there he squad lfc have at the moment will notge us CL qualifacation.

  • Raam says:

Where do you think Spurs got the fund to spend suddenly from guys? Its Bales transfer fee. Bale is going to Madrid. So far Spurs doing splendid job bringing in players with potential and i hope AVB knows what to do with all the talents.

    • roythered says:

Not sure if Spurs have to rely on money for Bale, the owners have shown much more commitment in their team than FSG has in theirs. Big difference.

    • yetti says:

Yeh right, bale money????? Don’t think so. Spurs are run properly. We’ve had money for last 3 seosons plus players going and t.v money. We havnt even touched bale money yet. Please research before you write crap. Please read more facts than newspapers.

      • LD says:

I beleive Spurs have already agreed a sale for Bale. Leavy only returned yesterday from Spain.

I reckon that Spurs will not say anything in order to keep the price down. If they did communciate this then players like Willian would cost 40Mill rather than the 30Mill quoted.

Yes Spurs have sold Bale. I am sure of it.

    • Patrick says:

Spurs always spend despite not taking in as much revenue as Liverpool . Spurs are well run by knowledgeable people while our club is run by dumb fools

  • roythered says:

So far this transfer window we have tried to get a marquee signing, every time, it’s just fizzled out as if it never happened. we have failed to sign any player we have bid for. These bids range between £20-£26 million, so what has gone wrong? Is it just the fact we’re not the force we once were, European football, wages, Rodgers, Ayre. Personally i think it’s a combination of all these things, but mostly Fenway, they have not invested much (in football terms) into the team. Looks like we have to sell to buy, instead of add to what we have. we’re not any better off than last year, in fact i have us + £5million this transfer window. Could they be balancing the books for a potential buyer? Makes you wonder.

    • pat49 says:

Theres been a few ruers about a sale but i recken within the next couple of seasons its more han a probability that fsg will have sold up becuse imo there out f there dept in football

  • adeniji says:

Get a * iver! I seriously and honestly detest it when people act sacrimoniously.. With due respect, I will implore you to keep ur dear empathy to ur self and tottenham ur club cos there is no way spurs can match the glories of Liverpool either now or later. Levy is spending all that money expecting to recoup all from the sale of bale to real( little wonder that he’s demanding such a whooping sum of 105mill from real, I hope he doesn’t get a shocker of his life) cos bale has publicly declared himself never to ever dazzle in spurs’ shirt, so I forsee he gonn’ go lesser than the asking price.
Permit the little digression, my point is this, willian is an over hyped player, and I personally won’t allow LFc to spend 30mill+ add ons on a player who’s unproven in the epl cos either yu like it or not, u must agree with me that he’s some kinda gamble. A chinese adage says “u don’t get drown twice in a single river”, we’ve made such mistakes in the past, so we should have outgrown such an imminent transfer calamity. With 30mill we can get two or three player to improve the squad for better than what willian possibly and single handedly would do…cheer up kopites, the window is still open! YNWA

  • Raam says:

Roythered, the takeover thing is very suspecious isnt it. Theres the old saying,no smoke without fire. But i dont care who takes over LFC as long as they are improving. Once a red allways a red.

  • John says:

Totally agreed. Base on the current squad, we will definitely not in the top four this season. We can forget about cl till 3 to 5 years later. Reason is by then player like steering. Henderson and etc young and talented players will become a true wod class player. You can compare Steven Gerald when he is 23 n 27 years old. During that time, he is at his prime of his career. Beside, it is difficult to attract big players if the team is always look like a top 5 to 8 team in the epl. How about sponsor ship from oversea ??? Hopefully the owner know how a football team operate.it required a huge investment project during the first few years to chain out a team that can challenge for trophy.if not the value of the team will drop.THus please sell off the club if u are not able to commit to it.

  • LD says:

If FSG remain as our owners then Liverpool will continue to look across at the top 4 positions with no hope in hell. I am very dissappointed with FSG. They bought liverpool on a Cheap, and have invested in essence very little. This is including the the year where we sold Torress, Mierelles and Babel. and KD wasted his 110Mill spend.

A bigger problem for all the top 8 teamsis that we could loose our covetted 4th spot next year to qualify for the EL.
if the EPL teams do as badly in the CL as they did last year and the year before, we could potentially be fighting for only top 3. There is a strong possibility that our 4th position will go to the German Bundesliga next year.

I hope as one of the comments states above, that FSG are preparing LFC for a sale. If so I hope they sell to someone with a strong commitment. Under FSG we are no better off in footballing terms than we were with the previous clowns.

  • chimezie promise .N. says:

lfc owners are doing business, dont want to move this club forward,is not a matter of ucl that make big players not going to lfc,is money, spend money and have what u want

  • Elbie says:

FSG.. you are only ruining the LFC reputation…

  • Atma says:

We the LFC have a good Scout but our owners are null. They do spend money to scout players but at the end they loose them like we at first lost Dempsey and from that day Spurs are taking all those that are best suited for LFC. It is time for the Owners to do the right things at right time. get the right player like Arda Turan, Damaio etc. Get them then your Club will get qualified. You do not have better players than Spurs, so we will be still fighting to be in the 4th. If we do not buy now we will end again under 4.

  • Patrick says:

Rodgers can’t be trusted , not after throwing away last summer’s budget on rubbish.

Obviously FSG don’t trust him either , hence the transfer committee

    • djr says:

It’s not a case of trust. Why do you think Rodgers was employed in the first place instead of a top manager who would have attracted top players? In a word, Rodgers is a patsy, he’s controlled, and that’s exactly what FSG wanted. Do you honestly believe Rodgers would have got the job under any other terms? FSG call the shots completely. I doubt FSG have any intention of spending big money. I believe they think they will achieve success without spending big.
Rodgers might manage the team and identify the players he wants, but if they don’t fit into the FSG transfer policy (transfer fee and wages) it doesn’t matter what Rodgers wants it won’t happen. I bet Rodgers has never stubbornly pushed for a particular big name player he wants to sign because he knows what would happen. Even some of the players with big salaries have been unceremoniously removed from the wage bill with puzzling reasons.
Reina loan deal is a prime example of this, Rodgers said Mignolet was brought in to give Reina competition, then all of a sudden that changed and Rodgers had to change his story. I will give good odds that was a FSG decision, and Rodgers will just tow the party line because he’s probably still amazed he got this gig. Rodgers has often looked foolish in the media after things he’s said, and that is because Rodgers is kept out of the loop, and then he has to change his story a la Reina. Downing sold suddenly after playing a large part in preseason friendlies with no replacement still in sight. Carrol loaned last summer with no cover striker brought in. Who made that decision? If Rodgers did, then that decision alone says he’s not the right manager for LFC. Would a top manager allow that to happen? That’s why I don’t think BR made that call, that came from above.
I don’t want to be over critical of BR because any half competent manager in BR position would have taken the job, but I guarantee no top manager would have. Not even Rafa, and FSG new that, and that’s why they went for a Brendan Rodgers.

      • simon says:

I agree with every word you say except the point you make about FSG thinking they can achieve success without spending big. Their idea of success is making money not winning silverware.

It simply does not matter if we win. LFC fill stadiums around the world, sell shirts, get huge sponsorships, get huge viewing figures without success.

They are business men and they know that it would cost many hundreds of millions to build a team and a stadium that can make us one of the top clubs again. So why bother.

Get rid of the expensive players and make more money!

        • Dennis says:

Djr + Simon . You are both right

It’s good to see some fans awake and aware of the pestilence that is FSG

      • pine says:

        ^^^^ this!!

      • paullfc76 says:

Great analysis, I would have to agree with you as regards the amount of power Brendan actually has, some of the decisions have been baffling and your analysis makes sense of those decisions.

  • milton says:

I think or believe we have great upcoming youngsters which should be able to do a decent job on the wing and forward play.I love Ibe did not see anoive of Albert.the funishing should inprove abite with the amount of changes we can create.Hope we can still sign greek defender and midfield diamont if your know what I mean.things look good so far.

    • Marshall says:

True that,we’ve restructured the books and finances well.l will only panick if we donot buy the greek defender cause we are creating a lot of chances but areas of concern are in defence.aston villa game will show us problem areas.

  • daniel says:

I don’t see Allen borini sturridge coutinho as rubbish and the owners have shown they are willing to back br but at the same time not over pay which is as a result of previous over spending. Yes we need great players but its time to back the amazing old and young players we have ynwa

  • Denis D says:

We all know as fans that K Dalglish wasted millions on average players ( Adams, Carroll, Doni,Downing and Henderson) But Enrique and Suarez were very good signings. Dalglish spent £115M on 7 signings. And only two of them were good signings.

But the £115M Dalglish spent on players, club had brought in £80M on player sales( Torres, Babel, Bennayoun, Koncheskey, Meireless, Poulsen and Ngog) so FSG net spend was £35M

So they should not be using that determine all our following transfers:

The owners need to back B Rodgers with £50-£70M to bring in these 6 players.

    Defensive players:

1: CB: K Papadopolous(21) Of Schalke for £12-£14M to compete with Skrtel
2: CB: T Alderwierld(24) Of Ajax for £7-£10M to compete with Agger and Toure
3: DM: M’Villa(23) Of Rubin Kazan Or B Matuidi(26) for £10-£14M to compete with LUCAS

    Attacking players:

4: AM: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao for £10-£14M to compete with Alberto and Coutinho
5: RW / RWF: J Montero(23) Of Monarcas or Morelia in Mexico for £4-£7M to compete with Sterling
    6: B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle or D Capell(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal /Lisbon for £5-£17M

These 6 class quality players will take club back to the next level, top 3-6 side in the league, instead of the top 7-10 side we have now become over the last five years.

    • no sheep says:

the same boring crap as always. i can guarantee that we will sign none of those players that you picked out from football manager, with the exception of maybe papa. And even without any of them we will make 6th at worst,

      • Denis D says:

No sheep and *boy proflanky bull*,

If we have lost out to signing the likes of Dempsey and Sigurdsson to Tottenham, did you seriously think when Tottenham were mentioned to wanting Willian we would have a chance?

You wastemen are saying fantasy football,

These are all good class quality players and all of the players are available,

Tottenham have brought in real class and quality signings this summer: Capoue, Chadli, Paulinho and Soldado. And tottenham had much better squad than us last year and finsihed two places ahead of us. And now how much better is their squad to us now?

Even Swansea and Southampton have spent more money on transfers than us without having to sell players, we brought in Alberto £6.7m, Aspas £7.7m and Mignolet £9M and Toure on free = £23.4M outwards

Yet club have sold Carroll for £15 ( 19 including add ons) Downing £5M , Shelvey £5 and Spearing £1.5M = £26.5M inwards

So the owners have given B Rodgers nothing this summer to spend on players at all. They need to back Rodgers with £50-£70M if we want real chance of making top 4 this year as. The top 3 will be Manchester City, Man Uniited and Chelsea. Us, Arsenal, Everton andTottenham willbe fighting for the fourth spot in league.

But all those three teams had better squads than us last year and two of them have strengthened well , whilst Arsenal have been in top 4 for last 15 years.

So its not fantasy football you comedians, They are not from football manager, they are good players. some international players, but as you wastemen only watch premiership football, you clowns wouldn’t have a clue.

        • no sheep says:

Denis at work so don’t have the time to reply properly. But who pays the taxs, signing on fees and agent fees?

          • Denis D says:

No sheep, when you know anything about football i will take you seriously.

We have not been in champions league for last five seasons as we have now become a top 7-10 team, not a top 1- team.

And Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City have finished ahead of us as they have much better squads than us and are always strengthening well.

There are 6 teams in the leagues who had better squads than us for last three years: Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Now even Everton.

And too bridge gaps, class and quality is needed, not money spent on peanut / players with potential, we need players in who will start firing from the start. Like Coutinho and Sturridge.

We have enough average players with potential on clubs books: Alberto, Assaidi, Aspas, Borini .

If the owners are serious about getting the club back competing with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United again for League titles then players like Aspas. Borini, Flanagan, Assaidi, Jones, Pacheco should not be what we are going for and looking towards

        • paullfc76 says:

Sorry, I directed the fifa comment a bit hastily, you make some good points, I apologise again.

          • Denis D says:

No Problem Paul, We could end up like Arsenal.

For last 5 seasons we have known the problems at club: Positions that were needed to be filled , yet the players who were brought to fill the positions simply have not been up to scratch or standard.

we have lacked out and out wingers with pace, speed, class. consistency, creativity, width and goals for over a decade. That still has not been rectified, we have two good class young wingers with potential to be quality in future but we need them to be hurting teams in premiership week in week out now.

We had centre midfield class quality depth before in Alonso, Gerrard, Lucas Mascherano and Sissoko.

Meireless was a very good footballer and we should not have sold him, but now we have a average midfield.

Allen,Coutinho, Gerrard, Lucas and Henderson is no comparison to Alonso, Gerrard, Lucas, Mascherano and Sissoko.

And a Fast Mobile Hard Tough Tackling Defensive Midfielder is needed to compete with Lucas.

Another Class, quality attacking centre midfielder needs to be brought to club to compete with Coutinho.

Then our centre midfield would have class, depth and quality back in the centre of the park and good reinforcements in reserve like we used to have 6 to seven years ago.

    • Proflanky says:

Someone please wake this guy up. I wonder why people keep living in the fantasy world when the real world is staring at you in the face. Just shut up if that load of “football manager” is all you’ve got to offer.

      • Denis D says:

Prowankster,i am up. I am just real blunt and honest.

FSG don’t want to spend real money and capital to get us back to the top, they want to spend peanuts and hope we get to top that way. Well it doesn’t work that way, Manchester City, Man United and Chelsea are the three best teams in league at moment becuase they have the most class, quality and depth within their squads. And millions millions millions was spent for those teams to get to the level they are at.

when Rodgers was after the peanut budget unknown players they are signed within days or week, but when have been linked with any class or quality player, we take decades to sign them and someone else comes and signs them or they decide to stay where they are. (Mkhityran, Costa and Now Willian)

I do not play fantasy football

        I watch and play football,

our squad lacks mobility pace speed in attack , Without Sterling and Sturridge in first 11 week in week out team looks laboured.

J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia In Mexico is an Ecuardian International, he is a winger who has used to terrorise Marcelo of Real Mardid and Alves of Barceloona whenever he played against them whether for Villareal or Real Betis. Alves has been sent off playing against him and he is class quality skilful winger with pace and speed to burn

I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao was the winger two years ago murdering Rafael of Man United at home and away in Europa League, When A Bilbao out played Man United in both legs. He is the young equivalent of iniesta player with pace and speed.

D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon or B Arfa(26) Of Newcatsle are two left footed wingers with good mobility pace and speed and would replace the dissapointment Downing we had at club for two years.

The three defensive players i named are needed for class quality competition at club: we currently have 3good centre backs at club: But they are all 28-32( Agger(28), Skrtel(28) and Toure(32) two young class quality centre backs are needed to come and compete with these 3 centre backs and to take over from them in next year or two. ( K Papadopolous(21) and T Alderwierld(24) )

And Lucas has no real class quality competition or cover for his position at club: so M’Villa(23) Of Rubin Kazan Or B Matuidi(26) Of PSG should be brought to club to compete with Lucas, Capoue now of Tottenham would have been awesome buy. But Rodgers and FSG need to wake up as Lucas is currently our most vital player in squad. And if Injured or suspended , club will struggle immensely.

Its not Fantasy Football or Football manager, its facts.

There is lack of class quality and depth within the squad, we wouldn’t have finished 6-10 in last five seasons if we were better but results at end of league do not lie and for last five seasons we have finished 6-8th

        • Ozred says:

he’s back… Dennis….. Where have you been mate??? crying in your soup after we won….

3 months of typing the same crap everyday telling everyone they aren’t true fans because they don’t want us to lose and the manager to be sacked…

Every day for 3 months, the same toe jam dribbling out of your mouth then nothing… Nothing… We win and you post nothing… You couragously wait 5 days to get back on here and….. wait for it… spend half an hour typing out the same dribble that’s violated the board for the last 3 months… Go play with Tommy. you can both be miserable, bitter fools together.

          • Denis D says:

Ozred, your a clueless crackhead. I work mate, but now i am on nights i can come on here and reply to dumb crackheads like you.

You fool, we win won game 1 0 and you think that makes us top 4 candidates, get off the heroine mate.

We finished 7th last season, not 5th or 6th. 7TH, 3-4 positions behind where were supposed to try and finish.

And that has been the same story for the last five seasons, because The Two Manchester Clubs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Now Everton have better equipped squad than us and more class and depth within their squads.

No other reason, i am just honest and blunt. I am a die hard Liverpool fan, but the fact that we have finished outside the top 5 for last five seasons shows how far we have come off the top. And we are not getting back to the top spending peanut and loan players. Good class quality players need to be brought to club, all the players i mentioned are all class, quality players who would improve the squad dramatically

But when you get off that pipe and look at the bigger picture, hen you will see what i am saying. I mentioned Capoue we should have signed, you claimed he was not class and not first teamer. I love my team to death, but Allen and Henderson Together Capoue will have them in his back pocket when we Play Tottenham. And then you will rephrase your crap

          • Ozred says:

            Dennis, firstly nonsense… Your unemployed.

Secondly, I’ll bet u 10.000 that we finish higher than Everton.

Finally, we all know that we need to improve the squad. Difference being some of us have the ability to focus on positive aspects of it which includes winning games.

          • Dennis says:

Thats a different Dennis you dumb fool ozred.

Denis D not Dennis…2 ns different person . Get it ? Fk you are stupid !

          • Dennis says:

Can’t even get that right ozred . You are a sheep .

          • Ozred says:

Hahaaaaa. Mental impairment must be a common trait with the name. Amazing that you’d bother because I didn’t use the d… Must be a busy day. For what it’s worth, was referring to Mongo head Dennis d but Dennis u can get back to the ward with him

          • Denis D says:

Crackhead Ozred, can you stop posting crap which we can’t reply to you faggot.

You have no clue about football, whatsoever.

Your views are comical, you think because we have won two games 1 0 we are champions league contenders.

We lack pace, speed and creativity in attack if Sterling and Sturridge are both not on pitch, in second half today against Villa. Aspas was basically Non Existant and when Allen came on he was dyer to say least, in second half Lucas kept losinf the ball.

We need 6 class quality players in if we are to seriously compete for the top 4 this year, as the season is not decided in 2 games and last season we beat one of the top 5 teams. FSG have spent Nothing this summer and cannot expect the team to make top 4 , when The team that finished 2 places ahead of us in 5th have spent £70M this summer . Southampton, Norwich and Swansea have spent more money on players than we have.

These 6 players are needed before transfer window shuts:
            2 class quality centre backs
A fast mobile tough tackling defensive midfielder
A Quick Mobile fast quick creative goalscoring attacking midfielder
Two Quick Wingers : A Pacey Quick Left footed skillful creative winger and A Pacey Skillful right sided winger

As our club lacks pace and speed in attack, if Sterling and Sturridge are both not in team, team looks laboured.

          • Denis D says:

Crackhead Ozred, I am employed you fool . While i am typing this , i am getting paid for it as i work in corporate Security you Mug.

And i think my tax pays for your life existance you bum, When you know anything about football i’ll take you seriously. You and No Sheep are comedians, are you two the new improved 2013 Dumb and Dumber?

          • Ozred says:

I haven’t heard 1 person say we don’t need better players. It’s just that most of us don’t derive joy from constantly whinging about it. We have won our first 2 games and u all you’ve mustered is more whinging, more bitching and more moaning.

          • Ozred says:

Oh yea. And thank god for mignolet… If we had Your cough cough top 5 keeper in the world in goal, we’d be on 2 points. U can have him

          • Denis D says:

Clown and Comdeian Ozred, So we have won two games 1 0 and you think that makes us champions league contenders now?

Are you being for real? Tottenham finished above us by two places last year because they had a much better squad than us then. And recently they have brought in £60M pounds worth of class, quality and they are still looking to bring in more class quality players.

I love my team to death, but i am no fool.

You are: Did you watch the Notts County game last night?

What it clearly showed is that IBE, Sterling are good class young quality players but they are both very weak and would struggle against strong quick mobile full backs. And It showed most true fans that the club need two good class quality experienced wingers at club before transfer window closes.

It shows we need two more centre backs at club: Like i have said since end of last season, as we cannot rely on K Toure and Agger all season, as both are injury prone. And Toure is 32, when he is out he is normally out for mths mths mths.

And Coates is useless, he should have been sold and shipped out as soon as the season end last year, but now we have an injured player on the books who is not missed as his pony, pants, poor to say the least.

It shows the owners need to back the manager with serious backing £40-£70M of funds to bring in these 6 Class Quality Players:

Two Centre backs for combined total of £25M :

1: K Papadopolous(21) Of Schalke to compete with Skrtel for £12-£15m
2: T Alderwierld(24) Of Ajax for £7-£10M to compete with Agger and Toure

A Fast Mobile Powerful Strong Tough tackling Defensive Midfielder: For £12-£15

3:M’Vila (23) Of Rubin Kazan for £10-£15 to compete with LUCAS

Two Wingers for combined total: £14 ( Less than Downing was and Allen)

4:J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico for £4-£7M to compete with Sterling ( RW / RWF)

5: D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon for £4-£7M to compete with Aspas and IBE ( LW / LWF)

6: I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao for £10-£15N to compete with Alberto and Coutinho, as Alberto does not look the good enough at moment coutinho needs some good healthy competition for his position in the attacking midfield role

    • paullfc76 says:

      Stick to playing fifa.

      • Denis D says:

        Paul, you clown?

Are Tottenham a bigger club than us? No.

Are they a better club than us? No, But for the last five seasons they have finished above us in the league and finished two positions ahead of us last season. But have now spent £70M on class, quality players: Capoue, Chadli, Paulinho and Sandro.

That aint fantasy football, thats facts.

The players i have mentioned we need to bring to club are all class, quality:

        Two Centre Backs:
        K Papadopolous(21) Of Schalke
        T Alderwierld(24) Of Ajax

        Defensive Midfielder:
M’Vila(23) Of Rubin Kazan Or B Matuidi(26) Of PSG, both of these players are more mobile, physical, Quicker, Athletic, harder in the tackle than LUCAS. Both of these players are in same mould as Makele, Mascherano, Sissoko and Capoue.

        Attacking Midfielder:
I Munian(20) Of A Bilbao is a class quality attacking midfielder in the mould of Iniesta.

Two Class Quality wide men / wingers/ wing forwards with pace and speed:
J Montero(23) Of Monarcas Morelia In Mexico is a class, quality winger with pace, speed, trickery, goals in his locker. Montero would offer the club more class, quality to club than Assaidi, Borini and Aspas all put together.
B Arfa(26) Of Newcastle Or D Capel(25) Of Sporting Clube De Portugal / Lisbon , Either one of these pacey, quick left footed wingers would bring more class and quality to club than Downing ever brought to the club.

Its not Fantasy football or Championship manager, its facts and truth, these are the players club could bring to club on cheap bargain prices and they would all make same difference Coutinho and Sturridge have had on club.

As if i was thinking fantasy, i’d say lets get Hummels, Dante, Martinez, El Shaarwaay, Messi and Robben. Players we would have no chance in hell of getting with FSG at the Helm

  • FSG Out says:

We are going nowhere with FSG, no pride, no desire to assemble a squad as good as Man City, Chelsea or Man U. No care about winning trophies, just balancing the books and using the old excuse of having an novice manager.
