Luis Suarez: Questions and Answers

|
Image for Luis Suarez: Questions and Answers

Uruguay LiverpoolTHE morning after the night before, after the night before: The sun is still in the sky, dogs chase cats, oranges are orange and I have precisely zero voicemails from Mila Kunis professing her undying love for me.

So despite the ramblings of a Uruguayan with a selective memory the world appears unchanged! Let’s be honest though, the disappointment we all felt was akin to Hulk Hogan switching allegiance to the NWO. It was in the end not entirely surprising.

The dust in mind (there is a lot of it) has somewhat settled, so I thought I would try something different take the mirror mirror approach and interview myself to gage my thoughts on the whole sorry affair!

Q1: Can you describe how you felt after reading this infamous interview?

Angry, disappointed, frustrated, betrayed, hungry, relieved. Quite a collection of emotions! Anger at any player that can pull such a stunt when he has the honour of wearing the famous red and having a stadium sing songs made for him, when I would chew off both arms for the privilege (despite this probably resulting in failing my medical).

Disappointment in him and myself that the interview was given and my reaction to it. Betrayal that after everything the club and fans have done for him this is his response, hungry as I hadn’t eaten in a couple of hours and relieved as for the first time there is no doubt in where he stands.

Q2: You mention betrayal; do you regret your actions in defending him amidst Evragate and bitegate?

No, no I don’t. During those times where he dragged this historic club’s name through the dirt, my issue was never seeking to absolve him of any blame. The issue and basis of my defence was his treatment at the hands of the FA.

A joke of a trial which would have been laughed at in a real court followed by a ban unsubstantiated when held against comparable issues. The way was treated was as disgraceful as his behaviour and that is the bigger issue.

Q3. He claims that the club made a promise to let him leave and are now reneging on it, this is fair enough right?

In isolation I could see an argument for it, but as with everything it can’t be taken in isolation. Once again this season Suarez disgraced the club with his actions, being banned once more. In every contract there will be certain actions that make aspects null and void. I imagine Liverpool will point to his repeat behaviour and subsequent ban as doing this.
[ad_pod id=”unruly-video” align=”center”]
Who is to say had he not been banned for a best part of a quarter of his time in red we wouldn’t have made the Champions League? Besides, IF true and Liverpool reneged on an agreement, it will be karma, I remember a certain someone promising to shake Evra’s hand before a match! How did that go?

Q4. He defended you on the pitch though?

Do me a favour, on the pitch he is paid, very well, to be brilliant and score goals. He did his job, admittedly to a very high level last season, but still his job. Sadly, despite every goal, crucial or not, he scored this was overshadowed by his behaviour. I’m not sure how he could repair the damage he caused the club and important people such as Kenny Dalglish, bar winning the club the league.

Q5. He said the fans would understand?

Shows how removed he is from reality. For someone from such humble beginnings you would think he would have appreciation for such a passionate fanbase who Steven Gerrard correctly stated would find a way to the moon if the club played there.

The fans have been metaphorically bashed from pillar to post in their defence of him and their support, they would expect more loyalty. Claims he isn’t leaving for a local rival or to hurt Liverpool yet a potential move to Arsenal ticks both those boxes. He talks about honour yet has shown none.

Q6. Are you surprised he speaks so freely with the media he despises?

Not at all. Yet again, his talk of honour is far removed from his actions. It amazes me how the interviews and stories only transpire when in Uruguay or away from club. Cowardly some might say.

Q7. Do you fear legal action?

Nope, but I would not invite it. I don’t want this club to see the inside of a court room again! I have trust in John Henry mind; his legal knowledge must be pretty impressive to outfox H&G. I would suggest legal action would not end well for Suarez or Arsenal for that matter.

Q8. Do you fear him going to Arsenal?

I did, but now I don’t really care. This is the proverbial straw to my camel’s back. It’s an odd move by the Gunners as he comes with a ban and a lot of baggage! A ticking timebomb. Who is to say he wouldn’t screw them over for Madrid in a year?

Q9. What would you do with him?

I would love to take the stance City did with Tevez, especially in World Cup Year. Ideally sell abroad, but hey if he wants Champions League so bad, why don’t we loan him to Celtic? They have it right?

I think I could go on and on, but I think my point is clear! Let me know any question you have on this affair or answers that are different? I’m on Twitter @timdibs

Pls is this from a fan or Brendar R?

  • Dave says:

This will represent a lot of fellow reds feelings I think, nice interview!!!!!!!

  • Ian says:

Nice piece, I would to send him to a Russian club, nice Russian winter would be a fitting send off, the temperature would match his cold heart!

  • Eddie says:

    He is just a mercenary.
He needs to look at Stevie G and Carra. The ultimate role models.
New signings should have clause in their contract to pay back some of their signing on fee if they leave before their contract expires. not if the club decides to sell them

  • CHUKWUEMEKA says:

enjoyed it esp the loan part (humorous)

  • SouthHam6 says:

Why does everyone judge the player for leaving a contract early and not honoring commitment to the club but never judge the club for transferring a player away before the end of their contract? Liverpool stuck by Suarez because they needed him and had no one else to score goals for them. They didn’t stick by him because of some sense of loyalty. Let him go already before the whole season gets crashed for the Reds before it starts.

  • Steve says:

    Good read mate

  • Paul foreman says:

Bizarrely exactly how I feel I’d love him to stay in all honesty he the best number 7 I’ve seen ever since I’ve been going to Anfield since 1990

  • Greg says:

I was having a similar conversation with myself… it’s stopped now they’ve upped the meds…
Re. Q3 though…I’m sceptical about this supposed “verbal agreement” as it is contradicted by other statements he’s made which makes me doubt its existence. He’s also made out the clause is something it isn’t. Then we have his changing justifications for wanting out. He’s a tinker that boy.
Q9…I’d like to see him anywhere else but here now as long as we get £50 million for him, he puts in a transfer request and we get in strong reinforcements. If abroad so much the better, if not then let’s bring Carra back for just one match!

    • guest says:

Strange how Brendan and the club’s answer to Suarez saying they had an agreement (like they did with Meireles, which the club tried to lie about as well) was “no comment”, not had time to think of a good enough excuse to deny it probably, Never heard a manager lie so much.

  • Andy B says:

    Wow,
You read my mind!! Brilliand piece, well written.. I would love him to go to arsenil now and i would love us to win the league or at least in the top 4 pushin arsenil to fifth then see what he does..

    Andy

  • al says:

Q11. Did rodgers do the right thing sending him to the reserves?

Yes he did. His next dtop should be grimsby town

    • guest says:

Did Rodgers do the right thing by lying ( again) to suarez about agreeing to him leaving if he gave us another season?, and you can bet your life Brendan DID agree to this, what with all the other ” Little white lies” Brendan tells.

  • Danny Barnett says:

Very well written piece my friend, nice alternative way of blogging! If I had a question it would be:

At what point are we cutting our nose off to spite our face in terms of, do we really want to keep an unhappy bunny vs what we could do with the £40m+1?
Yes it is a liberty of an offer but we could buy Papa, Eriksen and Costa (roughly) with that money and move on and forward from this debacle. Only 9 days to go! #YNWA

    • Tommy says:

Hmmmm . ‘danny barnett ‘ …he has never posted before EVER

Oh tim ..you really are a sad one

      • Tim Williams says:

Hahahaha let me get this straight? I am apparently adopting an alias and going to the effort of arranging a new email address all to simply write a positive comment??

        Ok then!

        • Tommy says:

New email address ? You dont need that for this site , and you know it

David Tyler , jimmy , Katie or whoever else writes articles and they dont get people saying ‘well written’ etc

….you write total rubbish , yet you do ? EVRRY WEEK

pull the other one tim . It’s obvious

The ‘ people ‘ who write these glowing recommendations like ‘danny’ here ARE NEVER REGULARS . Just made up people

          Sad tim

          • Tim Williams says:

Why do you think I would go to all that effort Tommy? For what purpose? I don’t get paid, I don’t receive any sort of advantage from positive comments!

Quite clear you don’t like my stuff, which is fine, other people do which is also fine.

          • al says:

            I agree with tommy.

          • realist says:

Yes. Well done tommy. No doubt about it.. Tim has been at it

  • Willie says:

Great, loan him out to a CL team. No disrespect, Celtic is far better. A team below their grade will do.

  • Alan says:

We have shown Suarez much more respect and loyalty than he deserves, but when you ask why is this the case the answer is clear we are Liverpool and this is what we do! We follow our great team with our heart on our sleeve and with pride that we are privileged to follow the greatest team in the land and indeed any other land.
And if he stays (I would rather he left for a team outside the EPL) I will once again raise my voice with thousands of other Reds and shout my support for him, for as long as he wears the famous red shirt. And again the reason for this is the one already stated WE ARE LIVERPOOL SUPPORTERS IT’S WHAT WE DO! YNWA

    • guest says:

BS , read the boards from when the season finished, its full of foul-mouthed ill-educated rants, calling our best player this and that, being prompted by the rags obviously, did we go to court on any of the two occasions to defend Suarez?, NO WE DIDN’T, so I fail to see where this so called support came from?, Kenny defended him and got attacked by our own fans, some of the more naïve even went as far as attacking kenny for snubbing the Sky reporters (that bunch of corrupt lying scum), FSG are more bothered about style rather than substance, and woe betide anyone who dares say something controversial but true.

  • Raam says:

I wonder who was the genius gave Arsenal the now famous extra £1 idea..

  • vincent says:

Blame it on the press! Suarez shld be thankful that the british press has mercy on him or none of his childish outburst will be heard….

    • guest says:

Wow, defending the media, over our best player, the same media who lied about Hillsb…………….oh whats the point, people are brainless and never learn.

  • Matt says:

You sound like a guy whose girlfriend has just dumped him and you’re trying to rationalise it.

    Move on. She has.

  • Pnderito says:

He should be loaned to a russian side in champs league or else we sell him to atletico madrid for £35 +costa

  • guest says:

    Brainless, agenda pushing article.

    • Tommy says:

Very true . It’s another pointless ‘parody’ article meant to be funny . It’s not ! . It’s rubbish

Do you ever notice too that tim Williams always ‘people ‘ commenting on his articles saying things like
      – Great read
      – Well written
      – Great article
      Etc etc

These imaginary people are never regulars . THEY ONLY POST NICE THINGS ON TIMS SILLY ARTICLES

….now im not Sherlock Holmes but ….

      • Tim Williams says:

Wait a minute…..you are not Sherlok Holmes?! This fact has thrown me!

If you don’t like me writing or pieces Tommy then don’t read, simple really! Says more about you that you continually read and comment on stuff you don’t like!

Simply because you don’t like something doesn’t mean other people don’t, unless you are the pope and therefore infallible?!? Now we know you are not Mr Holmes, are you in fact the pope??

        • Tommy says:

Yes tim . Stop writing comments under different names then

And how am I to know if I like something or not until I read it ? Duh
…and people with an opinion positive or otherwise are able to comment if they have an opinion …so why moan if I do it

Your very sad tim . You have been doing this fake comments thing for ages now

Everyone can look back on Tim’s previous articles and they will continually see fake names praising his writing . Go on take a look

          • Tim Williams says:

You obviously have an issue Tommy, if you think I post comments under false names I worry for you. Please direct your suspicions to the editor of the site who is able to see each person who has commented and whether they are the same or not! Also look up my mentions on twitter, you may be surprised, unless I create other twitter names!

Whether someone agrees or disagrees, likes or dislikes my stuff it’s up to them, not sure what you think I would get from posting fake comments??

      • Tim Williams says:

Although it does flatter me you read and take notes from all my articles! Thanks

    • Tim Williams says:

      What agenda am I pushing??

      • Tommy says:

I have no iissue at all . Its just something I have noticed for months now and I thought I would point it out.

The reason you do it tim , is because you write complete garbage , and everyone knows it . Your fake comments are to make you appear more popular and credible

Care to explain then why ‘people’ like Andy b, burnett and all the others from previous weeks , whom have NEVER commented before suddenly turn up here to praise your article , which lets be honest no one with a brain would ?

        • Tim Williams says:

You clearly do Tommy! Everyone knows I write garbage? Bold statement? Have you spoke to everyone? I would suggest if I wrote garbage I would be asked by the editor to stop contributing!

You don’t like my stuff which is fine, but keep reading it which is odd!

I have no desire or need for popularity based on whether someone likes my stuff of not, I’m quite comfortable with my life and enjoy what I do to be effected by negative criticism! Just because someone disagrees with your point of view doesn’t make them automatically wrong! Football is a game I opinions and like arseholes everyone has one.

Credible?? I’m not trying to appear credible, I just write my own thoughts, doesn’t make me right or wrong, just an opinion! You don’t have to agree.

As for who the commenters are? I don’t know! I promote my article on twitter and get positive and negative feedback on there too, if you want to carry on you game Of detective and actually get a fuller picture before throwing around silly accusations (that’s how it works in the real world, trust me!) then go check out my mentions! Or alternatively keep posting accusations on here in the hope that he more times you say it it will become true

          • Tommy says:

Well done tim . What else could you do ? You have been caught rapid . You had no choice except deny it

Not accusations tim . Merely observations

And yes , apart from the mysterious comments , EVERYONE thinks you write trash. All the regular posters and anyone Ive talked to that has read your stuff

Hmmm. Wonder will the mystery comments stop now on future articles ? Or will you use more easy regular names like tom , Dave , Eddie etc etc that are harder to spot

            Can’t wait Tim. Lol

        • al says:

Yeah tommy. You know the score. Bloody williams.

  • Liam says:

LOOOOL caught out BIG time Tim Williams

    • Tim Williams says:

Caught out?? Obviously yeah, will done Liam and Tommy, rather than talk about footy on a footy site you have irrefutable proof!

Must be impossible for anyone to like what I right!!

Anyways, enough tomfoolery, I’m off to write and post some letters to myself to give me a boost! Give me strength
