1899-Hoffenheim-v-VfB-Stuttgart-Bundesliga-3148824With defence instability the primary concern for Liverpool in what has been a great season so far, you’d think that a couple of full-back options, a commanding, leader of a centre-back and a top-quality back-up for Lucas would be the order of the day but the rumours surrounding attacking options just won’t go away.

So to add the long list of young attacking talent from around Europe that we’ve been linked to this season, another recurring name has popped up again this morning: Roberto Firmino.

Live4liverpool.com mentioned a few weeks ago that Liverpool had taken a look at the Brazilian midfielder and it now appears that that interest has taken a more serious turn, with the likes of Inter and Sunday’s rivals, Manchester United, now showing an interest.

The little midfielder has scored 12 goals and assisted a further 8 this season for 10th placed Hoffenheim and is likely to be looking for a big move over the summer in order to further his own career.

However, given the role he tends to operate in for the un-fancied German side, it’s uncertain what kind of role he’d be likely to play with compatriot Philippe Coutinho unlikely to be budged any time soon.

The 22 year old would undoubtedly be a first-class option from the bench but he is unlikely to be interested in a move – even to a club that will possibly be in the Champions League – simply to play second fiddle to a player that he’ll likely be challenging for a place in the Brazilian squad over the next 10 years.
