It has been reported in this morning’s press that Arsene Wenger’s move for Toulouse right-back is anything but cut and dried, as Arsenal have yet to make a formal offer for the Ivorian youngster Serge Aurier.
As Liverpool and Arsenal both seek replacements for their current (Johnson) and former (Sagna) right-backs, it seems that Liverpool may have been in talks with Toulouse themselves.
While all talk has been about the Red’s high-profile move for a new left-back, in Alberto Moreno, it has been no secret that Liverpool also desperately need a new right-back after Glen Johnson yet again flattered to deceive last season and a bid in the region of £7-8 million could see Aurier make a move to Anfield.
The 21 year old’s agent said “There is no agreement with Arsenal,
“We’ve talked in past but there has been nothing recently. We’re in talks with another English side.”
With City and Chelsea already being well-stocked in that area, could it be that Liverpool are that other English club in for the highly-rated young Ivorian defender? He would certainly set some tongues wagging if he was to move to Merseyside.
