Marcos Rojo in action for Argentina

As the World Cup begins to heat up, and Liverpool’s interest in Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno cools, it seems that Brendan Rodgers has turned his attentions to Argentina’s Marcos Rojo. At least, that’s according to the Express.

The young full-back has enjoyed a great start to the World Cup and has been in the papers already following his ‘rabona’ clearance during the game against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The Argentine can play in a number of positions across the back and is believed to be available for around the £12 million mark, which would be a significant improvement on the £22 million Sevilla are believed to be looking for, for Moreno.

Oddly, the Express reports that Rodgers will also continue his interest in Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand as he looks for a number of players that can compete in the same position, meaning that either he plans to have 3 left-backs, or that the future of Jose Enrique will become less than certain.

Regardless, there is no doubting that left-back is an area that Liverpool desperately need to improve upon and if Rojo becomes the Reds new left-back, it’s very doubtful that many will mind that we missed out on Alberto Moreno.

What do you think, are you excited by the prospect of Rojo? Or would you have preferred Moreno?

I am annoyed by continued connection with bertrand he is not the quality lfc should look for. Rojo is a better prospect than moreno in my opinion.

Hes not built like a tank he just looks like a normal sized bloke. Watched him for the Argies last night, nothing suggests he will be any good on this display. Iran gave them serious problems throughout the game.
