Does Luis still have a place at Anfield?

In the space of a week we have seen the brilliant side of Luis Suarez against England and the ugly side of him against Italy.

The footage does not look good for our number seven as it looks like he bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder as Uruguay beat Italy 1-0. Irregardless, FIFA have now punished him and we’ve all suffered.

It is impossible to defend Suarez and I am not going to try to argue his case here, but one thing is for sure is that despite his moments of madness we should try our best to keep him at Anfield.

I think first of all this shows how good Dr Steve Peters is at his job because when Suarez returned from his ban last season he never looked like he would do something controversial, but as soon as he is away from Liverpool and Steve Peters, he does. It was never going to happen against England, everyone knew what was going to happen against England and I wrote about that in my last article: he was always going to have the last laugh.

I have seen people on social media suggesting we should sell Suarez because it is tarnishing ‘the brand’, really?

I would never think about selling him for PR reasons. In fact, I would never think about selling him at all, because football is about winning trophies and to win trophies you need world class players; you need a Luis Suarez in your team.

He scored 31 goals in 33 games last season and did things with a football I didn’t think were possible, like curl a header into the top corner from 18-yards out. Imagine what he could do in Europe’s elite competition, in that Red shirt, in front of The Kop, it is a spine tingling thought.

Since he joined Liverpool, the amount of times at Anfield and on the road I have turned to the lads I go to the match with and said “how did he do that?”, “he is a genius”, or phrases that use foul language is ridiculous.

Despite his latest ‘moment’ I hope I am celebrating his goals and turning to my mates in disbelief next season and for many seasons to come.

Suarez is a lovely guy and loves Liverpool, we’ll back him forever while he puts on his red shirt and wants to be here. People who hate him and how good he is for Liverpool are just using this as an excuse to jump on his back and try get rid of him. Don’t fall for it and support Suarez.

  • REGHAN says:

Of course Liverpool should not sell Suarez. They should be buying other world class players to strengthen the team not sell their best player to strengthen Barca or Real. He could bite again and again I would not care any less, I want him at Liverpool for as long as he keeps playing. I support Luis Suarez and pray to God he stays. I wish FIFA would ban him from any transfer away from Liverpool. You’ll never walk alone Luis!!

selling luis Suarez is nothing but showing ingratitude. The genuis worked extremely hard just to make sure we achieve our aim and in the end, we didn’t just achieve the aim but also almost won the league. My follow kopites, is this how we’re going to pay him back? Please we all need to support him and his family.

Suarez will never walk alone. Suarez shall not be for sale. Shall remain with liverpool even if he would have been banned for 2 years we still love and need him. He makes us happy

Here in Tanzania, Liverpool fans surport Suarez and will love to see Suarez in Liverpool Jersey for double figure seasons to come.

  • Roger says:

I’m not a fan of Maradona but I liked what he said the other day. Have Suarez killed someone? Did Cheilline lost his arm because of the bite? Why don’t we just send Suarez to Guantanamo Bay! This is how some people regard Suarez. It is shamefully even to think of selling him and even worst if its LFC supporters the ones saying like that.I don’t know which is worst; mocked by rival fans for not being able to win the league or called ediots for selling the player who can help us win it.

while i find the act of biting someone in a game to be vile and repulsive i honestly dont think its as bad as some of the tackles i’ve seen during this world cup.
some of the hacks and kicks we’ve all seen would seem to warrent lengthy bans as well.
i thought defour of belgium’s stomp on the south korean player was a lot more dangerous than a bite…. and some the deliberate kicking and needless fouls warrent lengthy sideline spells as well!
so given the length of suarez’s suspension i think its a moral dilemma fifa have got all wrong.
luis suarez is a brilliant player that needs councilling…. and i would love for him to still be with us when the new season kicks off.
    ynwa luis suarez.

Did Man U sell Karate kid Cantona after his indiscretions? NO,and they went on to win titles and trophies and he became feted as a movies star! Ijust hope Fenway and Roders have the brains to see through all the hype, Owen and Carragher should keep their traps shut otherwise we will be in the same situation we have been for years, Keep Suarez and the titles will come!
