Liverpool Player Ratings vs West Ham

|

Midfield

Steven Gerrard – You can argue until the cows come home but Gerrard is no longer good enough to be considered a starter and Brendan has to show that he has the backbone and authority to drop the captain. The only concern is a backlash but sooner or later, every legend has to step down and let younger, less experienced stars have the chance to step up. If he was getting stuck in and putting himself about but making mistakes and misplacing passes, there’d be an argument to stick it out but entire games have passed him by, his passing leaves a lot to be desired and his set-pieces rarely pick out a team-mate. Sadly, the time has come for Stevie to take on the role of a cameo star. Rating – 4

Lucas Leiva – Something broke in Lucas during his prolonged spell of injuries in the past few years and it’s tragic to see a player that was verging on becoming one of the best in the Premier League now struggling to keep up with the pace. The memories of him dominating a Man City midfield comprising Toure, Silva, et al are now long gone and he would now perhaps be better suited to a slower-paced league. Serie A would no doubt be perfect for him. Rating – 5

Jordan Henderson – Did what he could but he’s spending too much time being Gerrard’s ‘legs’ and not enough time being an effective midfield player and creative element. Put his body about and worked hard but to little effect but stood out in a very static Liverpool midfield today. Rating – 6

I think you’ve been too kind with the ratings for some of those players!

    • Dan Hills says:

Yep like mingolet was a 2 at best, how on earth did he manage to take the no1 Jersey, reina never let 50 goals in a season, this joker must wear gloves with fairy soaked into them, I mean that’s 8 in 5 games come on enough is enough DROP him!!!!

      • Max says:

Spot on. Mignolet is useless. His only a good shot stopper. Not a dominant keepr all round. We r so in trouble this season.

  • olamileye says:

sterling is the best player in liverpool now i can compare him with di maria messi neymar

    • Dan Hills says:

Moreno and sterling are the only players giving their all for our team. The rest can be dropped!!! Give Suso and Enrique a chance ffs

I’m concerned that although the last 2 teams have worked out that leaving a pacey striker to man mark Gerrard when Liverpool have the ball nullifies his influence, Rodgers has done nothing to show tactical nous to get him involved in the game. Why does Rodgers think Borini has anything to offer ? West Ham were better in every department, we controlled the game for long periods but in our own half, who cares ? There was no urgency in the final 10 minutes, we were passing backwards and there was no off the ball movement. Suarez scored over 30 goals last season but was probably involved in about 60 of them. The team needs to step up, and so does Rodgers

Woh what a nyc perfomance that gives us stress?have a good starting eleven brendan.suso, enrique are just warmers?

  • ANDREW DENILSON says:

we r stess maniacs bcoz of the perfomance.

  • Regie Boniface says:

I think the mistake many aren’t seeing is the half-assed sale of Dan Agger. He aided in marshalling our defence. And Bren should look to start playing Lambert.

  • elias says:

Liverpool luck sacrifice , should have brought in a new keeper romero or ochoa not waiting for valdes to recover balloteli is not a liverpool type of striker to drive attacking spirits at least a pedro benzema type could prove to be coups , plus gerrard is no 90 minutes player anymore needed a big replacement ,we lost it in the window before the season started hop we tick ynwa

  • agf1968 says:

I cant believe he dropped Coutinho. No-one here seems to be blaming the inept tactics of the boss. Mignolet has always been pants and Gerrard’s legs went last season but we didn’t buy his replacement. Coutinho hasn’t been playing well because Brendan has been playing him too deep. Put him at the tip of the diamond behind Balotelli and Sterling (until Sturridge is back) with Gerrard behind, Henderson on the right and Enrique on the left (Sterling when Sturridge is back).

    Mignolet (until Valdes arrives)

    Manquillo Skrtel Lovren Moreno

    Gerrard

    Henderson Sterling

    Coutinho

    Balotelli Sturridge

what else do we expact where average players flood everywhere. Br. We need quality not quantity players. Get ride of lallana, boroni, lucas, lambert. And get us Maco Reus! Lavazzi! Also give suso a chance for christ sake. He’s experience young lad.

  • vickyboy says:

you fail to loan Alex song. Yesterday song single handily out play ur 3 midfielders. Nonse! Hanging hope on british lads to lead our attack in lfc ll surely stall, non of them have perform in international sence. Keane, carrol, downing, joe cole all tried and couldn’t perform.why 25mil for lallana?

  • Max says:

We are so in trouble. We are so predictable as well. Also is it me that Even at the end they still play side ways at the back !! Gerard is the best liverpool player ever, but now time has come to step down. Him, Lucas, Henderson do thexsame job. Honestly I feel sick, we were destroying teams in the first 20 mins last season. Ballotelli badly needs sturridge back. Also y do lfctv keep on showing Suarez goals!!! It does my head in. We should have just waited for Suarez we not dog any better now.

This is shaping up to be a very long season. Brent Rogers has some serious problems of his own making.
1-the goalkeeper i an absolute waste if money But, Rogers is incapable if organising it improving keepers. See Reina and his dip in form since BR arrived.
2-defenders. We blamed , Reina, agger ….for the shortcomings , skertel? Sakho? Maybe is not the defenders but the Manager??? Or is je beyond reproach?

3-Steve g and his legs that have gone. Worse holding mf player I’ve seen at the club.

4-out Brendan spent the whole summer lecturing everyone in the “right way” if playing football. Advising people on how to solve England issues … And taking all the credit for senior Suarez taking us second and almost wining the league despite Bogers being in charge. Worse thing is, He started to believe his own hype and now we pay the consequences. Top 4 is out of the question.

What was needed were 2 things. Holding mf player plus Gerrard replacement , and one Cavani upfront. Whatever the cost. Instead we bought in players like lalana and lambert . Players that played in league 1 a few years ago. It wasn’t an accident that they played league 1. They belonged there.

    In Rogers we trust.,
