Ten Potential Bosmans for Liverpool Next Summer – Part Two

Doumbia looks to have to ability to perform at a higher level than he currently is

Seydou Doumbia (CSKA Moscow)
Blessed with pace and in the prime of his career at 26, Doumbia is one of the best strikers in Russia. Having been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, Doumbia won the Golden Boot during the 2011-12 season with 37 goals in 55 appearances and continued his prolific scoring last season with 20 goals in 26 appearances.

He is extremely skilful with the ball at his feet and carries plenty of Champions League experience, such as scoring in CSKA’s win away to Inter Milan, securing their passage into the knockout stage.

There may be concerns over whether he could cut it at the level of the Premier League, but on a free it is surely a risk worth taking. His value in recent years has been around £20m, so it is a no-brainer for many clubs and incredibly poor management by Moscow should Doumbia leave for nothing.

Liverpool possess decent attacking options, especially with Daniel Sturridge, but should Mario Balotelli fail to fire on a regular basis, Doumbia could provide another alternative. Moreover, Doumbia is a major upgrade on Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert and should be pursued by the Reds if his contract is still expiring by January.
