Cabaye could add a touch of quality to the Reds midfield, but for how much?

Since the limp victory over Southampton and the defeat to reigning Champions Manchester City, it has been clear that Liverpool are sorely lacking…. something in midfield and according to reports today, appear to have found it in the form of classy PSG, and former Newcastle United, midfielder Johan Cabaye.

The French midfielder has been in Paris for barely a year and has managed just 24 games in that times, with only 3 appearances this season but it now seems that he’s growing tired of the same situation that Edinson Cavani is currently enduring, in that he is not the main man and wants regular first-team football.

The player made the move to PSG in January for £19 million and his club would likely look to try and recoup most of that fee. However, at the age of 28, it’s unlikely that FSG would be willing to sanction a move for a player nearing 30, particularly as he’d be joining the club as a ‘reject’.

No doubt Cabaye would add a touch of quality to the Reds midfield but the club – and Rodgers – would have to really consider whether he is £15+ million worth of added quality.

Would you take Cabaye to Anfield, or is it too big a risk to take for such a reportedly large fee?
