The club are reportedly close to signing this young star in January

English national newspaper, the Express, today reports that Liverpool are close to the signing of MK Dons ‘wonderkid’ Dele Alli. The 18 year old midfielder has been in fine form since breaking into the first team proper in 2012-13 season and has since made 56 appearances, scoring 12 goals before he’s even turned 19.

Manchester United, Arsenal and – how surprising – Spurs are all believed to be interested in signing the young England star, with the latter two clubs having had a number of extensive reports drawn up on Alli, claims the paper.

Alli is apparently a huge Liverpool fan, citing Steven Gerrard as his idol and any bid for the youngster would likely see this fact – if true – have a big say in where he ends up. As recently as 20th September, the player put in the kind of display Gerrard would’ve been proud of, scoring a hat-trick and an assist in a 6-1 win over Crewe.

If the Reds are to sign the player, his club will be looking for a fee in the region of £9 million, with add-ons and any deal made in the January window would see the player move back to MK on loan until the end of the season.

As probably one of the most exciting young prospects in English football, would the signing of Dele Alli be a positive one for the club?
