While Liverpool have struggled in recent weeks to score goals and pick up points, the absence of Daniel Sturridge has been sorely felt, with those charged with leading the line in his stead failing to come close to delivering in the way Sturridge has since he joined the club from bitterest of rivals Chelsea.
Speaking after the narrow but deserved victory over West Brom, Brendan Rodgers commented that the striker should be fit for the next Barclays Premier League game at QPR on Sunday 19th of October – Rodgers said ‘He’ll [Sturridge] have the course of the international break to get ready, and he’ll be fine for QPR.”
With Rodgers team having struggled to keep goals out, it is the lack of goals that has become a great concern after watching such a free-scoring side last season but Sturridge’s return should signal a true return to form as the clubs’ main man will allow the front three to gain some greatly needed balance.
Once fit, should Balotelli and Raheem Sterling partner Sturridge, or should Lambert/Borini be given an opportunity?
