Liverpool Player Ratings vs QPR

|

Midfield

Steven Gerrard – Prior to kick-off, we were led to believe Gerrard was going to be pushed further forward, in a role more suited to the captain’s talents. But whatever role he was in, he was generally fairly anonymous throughout, failing to influence the game at either end. Gerrard must show up against Madrid. Rating – 5

Emre Can – A relatively decent start for Can in the Premier League, but along with Gerrard and Henderson, was overrun in midfield. If I’d been saying those words after Wednesday’s game it may be understandable, but this was the club currently bottom of the Premier League. It was something of a ‘baptism of fire’ for Can and he will have to adapt to the pace and intensity of this league very quickly. Rating – 6

Jordan Henderson – Did everything he could to pull his team-mates through. As was once said about the Reds captain, he can’t do it all on his own. Others need to match his energy and commitment levels every game, or we’re going suffer. Rating – 6.5
