Brendan Rodgers will now enter the most trying period of his Liverpool tenure

Another insipid, uninspired performance from Liverpool and another two rock-solid fixtures coming up on the next 7 days – it couldn’t get more difficult for Liverpool or, perhaps more importantly, their manager Brendan Rodgers.

In his post-match interview, the Liverpool manager had this to say “It was disappointing. I didn’t think we deserved to lose the game, but we didn’t do enough to win it.

“We had enough of the ball and good movement in front of the ball, but we just lacked that bit of creativity and invention in the final third of the field.

“Anything we had to deal with up until the goal, we dealt well with defensively – there were no real issues. But we made a mistake and the mistake, unfortunately, has cost us the game and that’s the biggest disappointment.

“If you can’t score the goals to win the game, then it’s important that you don’t concede. Up until that point, we were solid defensively.”

As during the game in mid-week, Liverpool had managed to look comfortable right up until a couple of individual errors cost the team but unlike in the league cup tie, the away side never looked like getting back into the game.

He went on, “Over the last 18 months, we were a team that was a real threat going forward,” said the boss. “We’ve lost probably 80 per cent of our goals out of the team with Luis [Suarez] going and Dan [Sturridge’s injury].

“We can’t keep going on about it but it is an item as to why we’re not getting so many goals.

“When you’re a team that can score goals, that gives the team confidence. At the moment, we’re finding the goals a little bit harder to come by, but it’s not through lack of effort. The players are working tirelessly on the training field, working very hard.

“Last season we scored a lot of early goals and we haven’t been able to do that so much this season. It’s one of a number of reasons.”

Do you agree with Brendan here – will Liverpool start to click once Sturridge is back or is it a worry that the team are overly reliant on one player for their identity?

No I don’t at all. This is Brendan’s mess. From the change of the goalkeeper/defensive weaknesses , tactics, spending. One fine mess. All we have to show for is Brendan’s positive leadership ! Suarez, not only took us second in the league, but with another manager, we would have won the whole thing last year. All he needed to do is play for a draw against Chelsea! But hey, he made sure he took all the credit for last year. I never believed he was a top 4 manager. I just hoped he would develop into one. Listening to this guy over the summer, it became clear just how delusional he is. Lecturing on talk sport about how England should play, talking English/British talent etc. He started believing he was the reason for last seasons success. In actual fact, when tactical awareness was needed v Chelsea there was none. Where defensive organisation was needed, he spinned the situation to make people believ it was lack if quality defenders.
Nope, lack of practice, inadequate training. I don’t think any if our defenders are playing to their full capacity. Hell even Reina’s performances started to drop game by game as soon as this guy came in. Mignolet can’t be as bad as he is right now with the right coaching. Simply can not be.
What’s the answer? Buy more defenders? Another keeper? Not sure It will sort anything out.

120 million pounds spent in one season. All summer on this website me am countless others said, Suarez replacement must be priority number one! We buy another overpriced English player in the form if lalana and add Lambert to grab more publicity headlines! Instead of buying a top striker, centre mf player to come in for Gerrard we add 9 players and the last one to come was a striker kicked out bumy just about every team he’s played in.
We are in trouble. The ship is sinking and the captain is delusional . Long season ahead I’m afraid. A very long one before he is sacked . Oh, Real Madrid are his next job or barca! He’d like to work in Spain , don’t you know?

Two things must happen for us to recover, firstly stop balotelli upfront alone, secondly sack brendan rodgers now and get an experienced manager that befits lfc class and not gambling on an average manager who tru out last season depended on suarez for results.i said it last year to all kopites and they dint blv me.#SACKRODGERSNOW

Benitez? You must be joking. Have you forgotten 20m pony Aqualani, 18m Johnson, 20m Keane and Other krap he signed like Lucas. Hell NO To Benitez.

Br. To be blame. Average player produces average rerult while quality players produces quality results. Chelsea good example.

I am not suprised at the current position of lfc . I have always said it here that br cannot win us anything. He is only but an amatuer coach carried all along by SAS , & now that sas have gone, his true qualities have emerged. 80% of the squad are his signings & not even a single world class player. He & ayre wasted over 120m in the summer on useless players. Imagine the following senseless signings – Ibe was loaned & somebody he is ten times better than was signed for 20m in the person of markovic- agger was sold 3m & a woeful lovren signed for 20m. I. M. O, 10m would have gotten us a better left back than morena who has caused us two matches already – we missed free Eto’o for an italian clown. These are signs of lack of ambition on the part of the entire management & the fans are keeping quiet dying of high blood pressure. Newcastle fans reacted & are now getting results. Ayre & br has failed us & should go.

bredan rodgers team are two one dimensional and predictable.. How can you play three central midfielders in same team and expect creativity; this are guys who aint ready to take risk but rather keep it simple, last year; quiet often than none suarez bailed us out.. But now he is no more; you out to play with lucas/gerrard can!henderson lallana, coutinho, sterling and borini and sturridge should take the place of borini when he is fit simple.. We dont need super fucking mario, and please dont prevent your fulbacks from attacking with you mid table mentality.. Rubish rodgers
