Origi has not had the best of times at Lille this season but has a great deal of potential

According to reports today, Liverpool’s summer signing (loaned back to Lille) Divock Origi could well be making his return to Liverpool 6 months earlier than expected, as the Reds look set to cut his loan short.

The Belgian striker is a young player of huge potential and could become one of the star strikers across the continent but as it stands, it’s unclear what Liverpool hope to gain from recalling the player early, considering the availability of both Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli, with star striker Daniel Sturridge having returned to training too.

Having impressed massively at the World Cup in 2014 and seemingly resigned Romelu Lukaku to bench duty for Belgium for the better part of the last 12 months, the striker hasn’t had the greatest time back at Lille, scoring just 4 times this season in 25 games and has received a lot of criticism from his fans for a perceived lack of effort.

Considering the amount the Reds have already paid for Origi, it seems ridiculous to think that the club would be prepared to hand more money over for a player the club already owns, particularly when there are other areas of the time that require being addressed, with a goalkeeper and top class defensive midfielder being needed much more than another striker, at the moment.

Is there a place for Origi in the Liverpool team at present, or is it a fruitless decision on the part of the clubs’ management? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Guys forget about it…We will be reported to be after every star player on the planet but will get none. We will end up with whoever Rodgers is able to control as he doesn’t have the skill or experience to deal with Big Players…LFC Execs & Coach are playing fans for fools…They have no intend to sign Top Players…also with Gerrard leaving who will be the attraction @ LFC…Certainly not Rodgers. His a good coach but not ready for a club the size of LFC…Hope I’m wrong & everything turns out well #YNWA
