Could the striker be on his way out before the end of the day?

Fabio Borini
The Italian has struggled for games at Liverpool this season, although did get to start against Real Madrid in Spain for the Reds. Out of the three strikers behind Daniel Sturridge, Borini is probably just the best option as he still has potential to improve his shooting accuracy at 23, he carries pace which suits Liverpool’s style of play and he does offer work-rate, whereas Rickie Lambert lacks pace and Mario Balotelli has the wrong mentality.

Yet Borini belongs at a club like Sunderland; it is his level, whereas at a big club you have to be so consistent to remain in the team. When starring in sides from the bottom half you can go missing in games but be assured of a place if you perform well in every alternate fixture. This is what Borini did on loan last season with 10 goals, compared with only one this season.

He could still fetch a decent price if a club comes in on Deadline Day, with Sunderland bidding £14 million last summer. Liverpool will do well to find a figure that high, but an £8 million sale is far from impossible, with Queens Park Rangers and Inter Milan previously showing interest.

However, again a summer switch seems more likely, with Borini still wanting to fight for his place – the reason behind his summer rejection of Sunderland – despite the lack of appearances. Likelihood of leaving: 7/10
