The young Italian has been linked with a big move to Anfield
It’s no secret that Liverpool have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper for some time however, given Simon Mignolet’s recent revival, that need for a new man may have gone from ‘new no. 1’ to ‘new backup keeper’, with the news that Liverpool are interested in Atalanta’s young star, Marco Sportiello.
The 22 year old Italian goalkeeper has been impressing hugely this season, after putting in a number of top-notch displays in Serie A. At present, it appears that a host of top Italian sides are also showing intent, with regards making a move for the youngster.
However, it would seem that he is more than happy to continue his development at the Serie A minnows, at present. Speaking to Italian newspaper, L’Eco di Bergamo, the Atalanta player said: “Liverpool are definitely a great club. We are talking about one of the top clubs in the world.
“However, I am happy to be here.
“This is my first year as a starter and I recently signed a new contract with Atalanta.
“My life has changed in a few months.”
