Sterling has riled fans once again, but also the club on this occasion

While many have given their opinions on Raheem Sterling’s recent BBC interview (including ourselves), few will have the impact of reading or hearing Jamie Carragher’s views and Carra didn’t hold back in his article on the subject for the Mail Online.

The former Liverpool player and club legend believes that Sterling is making a big mistake, and that the player and his agent have disgraced themselves by taking the issue into the public eye, after declaring they didn’t want to discuss the contract until the summer.

He said: “This, more than anything, is my biggest problem with Sterling and his agent. For a 20-year-old and his agent to be taking on Liverpool FC in the public domain is a disgrace.

“I have no issue about players maximising their earning potential but the agenda that is being driven from Sterling’s camp is beyond a joke.

“The only way any good could have come from the BBC interview was if Sterling had said he was going to sign a new deal.

“Anything else, as he has discovered, was always going to create a massive problem.

“They cancelled talks with the club but not with the media. If you don’t want people talking about an issue, don’t talk about it yourself.”

The youngster has turned down a number of offers from Liverpool, all offering him increasingly obscene amounts of money, and took on the subject directly on the BBC earlier in the week.

The 20 year old attacker attempted to justify his position by saying he was more concerned with winning trophies than what he earned but the nature of his responses to questions and his contradictory comments have only further angered fans who feel that the young midfielder is just another mercenary out to maximise his earnings.

Bench him for the rest of the season and when he asks for a transfer in the summer say no and either put him back in the reserves or send him out on loan to a lower division team abroad until he apologises, if he doesn’t say sorry let him run down his contract on his £35 grand, 2 years down the line not playing at the top will ruin his game, we wont lose anything as he cost us nothing in the first place.

He is a 20 year old who is quick and still has a lot of flaws but is lucky he fits into the system and style Liverpool plays. Yes he is good for his age but I don’t see him getting much better, especially since this is how he is acting. I am an Arsenal fan and to be linked with him worries me. He doesn’t fit our style and would be a waste of money. Hope he goes to a top club and never plays. He’s too cocky for how little he’s accomplished.

As a life long Liverpool fan and realist I’m really saddened by the slow decline and evolution our club is heading to . Yes we have owners who may have saved us from bankruptcy but they are more concerned in building a profit making machine than anything else, let’s face it , our owners were not Liverpool fans following games from the 80s . Rodgers is right , the modern footballer doesn’t care of the club history , he wants the best salary and chances to win tropies , there are at least 5 clubs in the premier league who can offer more, and we are struggling like never before in attracting big name players. What 50 million player would join Liverpool today ?? How much wages would we have to offer ? If sterling is sold for the reported 50 mil the who would replace him ? Exactly no one, as a player on his level and sir with his potential would join another club . Manchester United are at least taking a big gable and keeping up their reputation as a high paying and lucrative club

Without him we aa better. He will regret. He don’t have future.
    Sterling will cry one day

Liverpool supporters are more poisonous than poison, at the same time we are more blessing than bless.
Sterling should remember and look back.

sterlin is a good player no doupt but that does not give him the rigth to think that he is bigger than the club that brougth him up.doh we are not too strong finicially but we are doing good.sterlin is just bitting more than he can fucking chiew.he has the rigth to demand but to demand for what we can’t afford……..

He wants to go. Should keep his mouth shut for a start. Score as many as he can, give 110% and have a conversation with Rogers . Along the lines of, Brendan, I want out at the end of the season. Agreed, move on.

He isn’t worth 100K a week. Has potential but can’t pay that for potential. Another fine mess was Sturidge with his reported 150k a week to play 18 games a season.

Sell Stirling, bring in a creative mf player, such as draxler, a top striker and we are better off.
