Allen overshadowed his captain against Newcastle this evening

Midfield

Lucas Leiva – A superbly understated display from Lucas. Many will have either ignored, or not noticed, how good he was but he was again the platform for all of the impressive work we saw from the likes of Coutinho, Sterling, etc. Tackled well, protected his defence and got forward to good effect at times. Unlucky to not score in the first half, although he was marginally offside. Rating – 8 – Man of the Match

Jordan Henderson – Another subdued display from the captain, who seemed happier to keep it simple. Worked in his favour, as his passing was much improved and he laid on a few good chances for team mates. Rating – 6.5

Joe Allen – A good performance from Joe, who capped off a solid showing with a superbly taken snap-shot. Showed great composure to score and finished off Newcastle’s second half revival. Rating – 7

I compliment you on noticing the fine performance of Lucas, a player I dont often appreciate.

Allen played quite well but we can do better.Ibe was poor tonight.

Both Brazilians gave quality performances .Perhaps we should sign a couple more.It does not seem to harm Chelsea.
