The young midfielder is again being linked with a move to Liverpool today

It seems those rumours over the weekend about Liverpool having signed Ruben Neves weren’t too wide of the mark. The part about having already signed the Porto youngster were a little premature but reports today claim that the club have at least made an informal approach.

Reports via the Daily Mirror suggest that Liverpool have had a long-term interest in the 18 year old and had been ‘monitoring’ the midfielder since he broke into the Porto side last season.

They also claim that Klopp has given the nod to make interest in the player more solid and a move could well be made for the player who has attracted interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs.

The paper reports that Chelsea were linked with a £29 million bid for Neves in the summer, which may seem a hell of a lot for a player with so little experience. But the Portuguese youngster is so highly thought of that a fee of that size could prove to be a snip.

The claims go no further than claiming an informal approach but considering the rumours over the weekend, we can expect this one to rumbles on for a while.

The only difference now, of course, is that Anfield has suddenly become a much more attractive prospect for young stars and established names within the game and the hopes of bringing such a talented youngster to the club have more than doubled.

Have you seen Neves play, is he worth such a huge fee? Let us know your thoughts on the rumours.
