GK/Defence
Simon Mignolet – The stopper made up for a dodgy first half with a couple of smart saves to keep the home team at bay in the second. If Klopp is all about fast attacking, with an emphasis on never letting the opposition settle, Mignolet may have to change or be replaced, as his distribution and kicking were – again – dreadful. Rating – 6
Nathaniel Clyne – Very solid at the back, which is his strength. The fact that he may not be asked to act as a full back under his new manager may well work in his favour. Rating – 6.5
Martin Skrtel – Recovered from a poor first half in which he was constantly wrong-footed and left standing to his more usual self in the second. Still struggles against faster players though. Rating – 5.5
Mamadou Sakho – Had a very good game and showed signs of living up to the some of the lofty claims from fans about how good he can be. If he can put in more performances like he did today, then he will easily become the first choice at the back. Despite this, his awkward style makes it look like every is last-gasp, even though he’s a pretty cool customer. Rating – 7
Alberto Moreno – Had an absolutely brilliant game in which he seemed to revel in his battle with Erik Lamela down the flank. That he got the better of the expensive winger is a testament to how much work he’s clearly done on his defensive game. Looks as if he will excel under Klopp. Rating – 7.5
