Midfield
Lucas Leiva – Eventually the press and fans will learn, where Lucas Leiva is concerned. Constantly written off at the start of every season, and each time a new manager arrives but he was our star man today. He may not have the legs to keep up with many of the Premier League’s fastest players but the stamina and will is still there. Thankfully, so is the calmness and assuredness that allows him to keep things ticking over in midfield. Protected the defence with aplomb and bossed Liverpool’s midfield. Rating – 8 Man of the Match
James Milner – An atrocious display from Milner who needs to learn that simply running and diving into tackles does not make an effective player, or captain. He ran the risk of a second yellow constantly in the second half and he could easily have been sent off. Walking that particular tight-rope aside, his passing was abysmal as were his corners. Milner could perhaps do with sitting out the next game or two, as he can become a hindrance when he plays as he did today. Rating – 5
Emre Can – A better game from Can starting in his favoured midfield role. He took a while to warm up to the game but he really began to stand out in the second half, when his greater stamina and desire started to show through. Could really excel under the new manager but we need to start seeing more of that class we all know is in him. Rating – 6
i think emmre can was man of the match closely followed by lucas leva. a good performance consedering all the injuries we have at present
